I stayed up late tonight - not for my own new years celebrations, but for the Space Sunrise thing Japan was doing. Cos there were rumours they were finally going to announce D/P remakes there, and as much as I would have liked the games, that would have been the cringiest thing ever.

Well, the grand total pokemon stuff was:
1: A vr pikachu floating around while an astronaut talks
View attachment 1820099
2: Rayquaza (not a gen 4 pokemon, rayquaza) in space.
View attachment 1820102
3: A special event pikachu with the moves Wish and Celebrate (the latter of which literally does nothing now that you can't z-move.

Staying up for this was a mistake, but there's bound to be good salt somewhere.
They didn't even try to use actual Pokémon from space for this. :story: Rayquaza kinda makes sense because it lives in the O-zone and probably would always be pissed off at the ISS and satellites flying around its territory, but they didn't even put in Deoxys, nor Solrock or Lunatone anywhere or even some Moon Stones to go "See? SPACE!" They couldn't even bother to put Pikachu in a little astronaut suit.

Lol.

The fans will fix it.

I know this sounds random but has anyone ever had any interactions with fans of other monster taming games? Because some of the ones I have seen on Twitter are extremely insufferable and act holier than thou for liking TemTem or Digimon over Pokemon.

Can confirm Digimon elitism is worse than Pokémon elitism. I think it's a leftover complex from the '99/'00 playground wars over accusing Digimon of being a Pokémon ripoff. It was quickly forgotten when Yu-Gi-Oh! came into the picture, but those scars are forever.

Yeah. I see monster taming genre fans complain about Pokemon stans who accuse other monster games of ripping off Pokemon yet they pull the exact same shit. I legit see people say that Pokemon ripped off the concept of mega evolution from Digimon, Which is real rich when you realize that the term “mega” used to refer to the Digimon stage is dub only.
https://archive.is/tRtdN A fine example of making massive reaches.

The Mega Evolution is with Pokémon having like another evolved form (think they made it clear it's to be separate from typical altered formes) using the mysterious power of some artifact (e.g. the Digivice and Crests in Digimon) only to then return to a lower level. The only thing that's kinda missing is the evolution sequence, but the effect used is similar to how Tamers showcased it, hence the comparison to Digimon. Anyone who claims Digimon codified "Mega" is retarded, though, since on top of it being a dub-only thing, the Mega Digivolution that happens on-screen is through Warp Digivolving meaning skipping stages.

Ash-Greninja has some similarities with how Biomerge Digivolution works, but I think Yu-Gi-Oh! did something with the whole "sharing pain", too. Bond Phenomenon is weird, especially since it's only exclusive to Greninja. I feel like Pokémon did it in the past with psychic links, too, and not just with a push of a button to electroshock the trainer, but nothing's coming to mind.

But the most Digimon-esque of the series for me has to be the Ultra Beasts not just in looks, but in concept, which honestly bothers me because it was never hinted at prior to Gen VI. In Digimon canon, the quantum mechanic of many-worlds interpretation shows other planes of existence hinting at numerous other Digital Monsters not native to the Digital World (the one accessed through human internet). Pokémon has of yet to do a collision of worlds to bring in different versions of Ash and gang or to bring in the Pokémon Special world directly into the animeverse (see: third season of Digimon Xros), but the Ultra Beast realm and revealing there's actually a parallel world (Anabel in Gen VI being directly from Gen III hereby making her the Ryo of Pokémon) proving a split in the timeline was really too close for comfort to "Pokémon's ripping off Digimon" territory.

I still think these people are making a lot of dumb reaches since most of the examples are generic anime tropes not unique to any one series. Yet again I never watched the Digimon series past Savers.

Also the whole Pokemon timeline since gen VI is a mess due to there being a “mega” and “non mega” universe.

Yes. Telefang. Fandom literally manned by insufferable tardy sjw. Some people are nice, but big name ones are literally always These. Oh, and I think like half of new monster taming games (which all have their own twitter roundup, I remember linking to it in fakemon thread) are by people in this fandom

Azure Dreams fanbase has many people who haven't noticed it's a mon game.

Dragon Quest Monsters has your usual Dragon Quest autismu, but smaller. Nicest of the bunch.

Does any garbage pail in ORAS have anything in it? Every one I've checked* is empty. Hoenn sure likes emptying trash.

I... I don't think that's correct.

I did a quick google search and no... ever since XY/ORAS, GameFreak stopped putting hidden items in trash cans. B2/W2 was the last game that had a fuck-ton of shit in them

Man, I've been loosely following the Telefang translation project, and I had no idea that the people involved were SJWs (well, that's a lie, I'm well aware that a certain one is very obviously one thanks to their Twitter, but not the others in general). Now I can't help but wonder if they will (or already did) shove some of their political garbage in there instead of properly translating everything. You just can't have nice things, huh?
