It’s not just the anime either. A lot of things people complain about in modern Pokemon is also present in modern Digimon. Like the Cyber Sleuth games. They are fantastic but anyone who buys it hoping for an alternative to SwSh is in for a very rude awakening when they are confronted by the insane amount of cutscenes, extreme linearity, no exploration factor, and lack of challenge. If people think SwSh is bad with the cutscenes and getting stopped every five seconds by annoying npcs I would love to see them struggle with the first half of CS.

Definitely got more of a Persona feel for Cyber Sleuth than Pokemon alternative. Still good and would recommend it though.

As for spin-offs, Pokemon Conquest is a great hidden gem on the original DS. It's a combo of the Nobunga's Ambition 4X games and Pokemon, and was the first Nintendo x Koei Tecmo game before Hyrule Warriors. Solid SRPG if you like the genre.

Speaking of spin-offs, I wish we would get another Orre Region game (Colosseum/XD). I was replaying through them before SwSh came out and was having a great time with battles being difficult and having wacky/fun music. (Bring back Miror B dammit!) Wes was supposed to be the main villain in XD iirc but it never happened. Wouldv'e been dope to have a character that you played as become the villain in the sequel. Kind-of like a reverse Red.

Looking back the games were somewhat mature compared to the ones were getting now. I know Pokemon is a kids series but I've yet to see a pokemon game come as close to colosseum/XD in terms of atmosphere which makes you wonder why we never got a sequel after XD. I assume the games didn't sell well perhaps but damn I loved how unique those games were and would love to see one last Orre region game. I'd buy an HD remaster if ever released day 1. Before the PMD remake, we haven't had a mystery dungeon game since Super MD so I still have some hope but won't hold my breath.

Yeah I get it. The games aren't as edgy as some of the stuff from the manga but Orre being more lawless than the other regions makes it stand out. Though I dunno myself how they could still make it interesting if it's a third game in the same region.

Assuming Galarian Slowking's gonna be way better than Slowbro. G-Bro is neat, but it's held back by it's luck based ability and the fact that it's unique attack functions off of his OPPONENTS defense or special defense and not his own attack or special attack, like Photon Geyser does. Or if it was a poison psyshock might have even been better, but alas.

However, given that G-King's hidden ability will likely still be Regenerator too and his signature move seems much better, Im hoping he'll be much better. Assuming his stat will be a jumbled up G-Bro's I'm thinking it's most likely to be 95/75/100/95/100/30 (or maybe 95/75/95/100/100/30) which is a very good stat spread for a defensive pokemon, even better for a Pokemon with Regenerator, and amazing for a Pokemon with both of those qualities who can absorb toxic spikes, spread status, reduce PP, and set up future sight. I think it's going to be something of a staple in OU meta tbh, especially with mins like Zapdos coming back to form defensive cores.

I got Pokemon Sword the other day, and I have to admit, it's not that bad. I actually like it.

It's fun, and I am having a really good time with it. I do have issues with it like GF fucking up Wonder Trading and the GTS again, and not being able to turn off the EXP Share ability, but it is fun. I like characters, especially Leon, and Piers, and I know I'm in the minority for this, but I think the graphics are just fine.

They're not mind-blowing, but they're not godawful like I thought they'd be. They even look really good some times like in the mines, and mushroom forests. There is an occasional lagging issue, and sometimes objects, players, and 'mons just spawn out of nowhere, but that's it really.

I think that despite all the backlash, bad moves by the company, and the Dexit, this is still a perfectly acceptable, and fun Pokemon game.

So I was apparently right about the release of Champion's Path being an absolute shitshow. Products are selling out after minutes of being in-stock online, brick-and-mortar stores are usually selling out THE MINUTE they're stocked, local comic/game shops and scalpers on eBay are selling said products for WELL above MSRP, and the two secret-rares cards in the set selling for over $500 a pop on eBay. I'll give you three guesses as to which Pokemon is featured in them and the first two don't count.

That said, TPCi SEEMS to be getting the picture here and actually addressed the problem...

UNFORTUNATELY they fucked up by not specifying if it's new products (that we already know about) coming out or if it's reissues of previous products like the pin collections and the Elite Trainer Box.

So yeah... Not looking good on TPCi's part.

And that's all Pokemon will ever be, for the rest of its existence: acceptable with a wincing grin.

Don't call it a grave, it's the future we all chose.

Just finished Let’s Go Eevee, It was actually a ton of fun and better than I thought it would be. Also the entire game is ridiculously adorable and I spent a lot of time with the following Pokemon feature. I hate that in SwSh the following Pokemon don’t interact with you other than a “!”

That said was Kanto always this much of a slog to get through? Until you get the Poke Flute the railroading and high trainer battle density was just a pain.

Think it depended on the kind of Pokémon you get, but yeah, it's pretty slow to get through in the beginning. Once your team gets to like their level 30s around the time you beat Erika, you can easily start sweeping through trainers on the regular. Going through the Safari Zone slows you down, though.

I didn't and will not buy the DLC, so I'm kinda just waiting till the legendary spam drops to watch the singles meta (I've never cared about VGC) be torn asunder. It's so goddamn boring to watch currently thanks to Cuckgon banning every heavy hitter under the sun to the point where every battle is just a total stall slog fest.

Oh and get this. The idiots have genuinely started to ponder about banning Heavy-Duty Boots. They are that committed to sucking Stealth Cocks.

Banning something that was literally introduced to help rebalance the metagame?

Classic Smogon.
For context, it's because players have started putting them on all the walls so hazard chip becomes impossible unless you run Knock Off on everything. But stall wouldn't be such an issue in the first place if Smogon would stop favoring it for five goddamn minutes.

Don't see the point in banning them when there are other (granted not favorable, but still) counter strats to held items like it and the fact that it's seemingly done in response to Stall mons using them and not anything else.

When I went against players that used them in showdown, they weren't that big of a issue for me (mostly because I don't usually run hazard set up). This change is definitely going to do more harm than good.

Heavy duty boots is hilarious and it's exactly what smogon deserved. Years of bitching about every little mechanic "oh no we can't have people using sleep moves more than once" yet stealth rock invalidating half the monster roster was fine with them.

"Smogon: NOOOO! You can't just avoid stealth rock by putting on boots!"
"Volcarona: Hahaha heavy booties go stompy stompy"

The sleep clause made some bit of sense back in gen V due to how brutally broken the status condition was specifically at the time (if you switched out while asleep, all spent sleep turns on that mon would reset, even if using Rest). That and Breloom with Amoonguss meant you had your choice of a semi-fast sweeper or unkillable tank to put entire teams to sleep with and subsequently tear apart.

But like many things it's a leftover clause from an era long past that Smogon just never bothered to reevaluate.

The 2nd to last battle of a Battle Test in ORAS can sometimes have a verteran or otherwise old trainer who uses all legendaries - which almost guarantees a lower score. Last time this lady veteran had an Articuno with the Mind Reader + Sheer Cold combo.

Personally I'm fine with sleep clause. It's been around since Nintendo Cup (Gen 1 VGCs) and Stadium for a reason: losing more than 1 Pokemon to Spore or Sleep Powder is bullshit. Smogon not reevaluating things is dumb though. They still ban Swift Swim and Drizzle combo if I'm remembering right, despite that combo not being broken like it was in Gen 5.

Speaking of Spore: if they ever bring Smeargle back Game Freak really need to change Spore so it fails if used by a non-Grass type. Having such a good move on otherwise weaker Pokemon is what balances it and Spore Smeargle is too versatile to be balanced.
