Dunsparce Salamence.png

It's not a Pokedex entry, but it's still strange. Dunsparce doesn't look 4'11 in length or height, and Salamence looks like it should be taller than that.

Chad Dunsparce vs Manlet Salamence.

I heard from my friend Super's final boss fucks you over if you end up playing as Fennekin, but I can't recall the rant he gave me years ago about it. It might've just been a mistake on his part and there's nothing wrong with the mechanics despite which Pokémon you are.
If it's about type matchups I can see that happening. Like I mentioned before, Rescue team's main campaign is brutal for grass types.

I've always thought that for certain Pokemon - mainly the serpentine ones - the size refers to length rather than height.

... you mean that wasn't already obvious to everyone?

That just made me think about if people comparing regular Weezing to the Galar form went "Oh shit Weezing got more Swole" when it actuality he's always been the same size but his smoke-stack top-hat is just long as fuck.

I think some of it might be carryovers from when we were kids and were no bigger than the trainers themselves (except the tiny ones). The PokéDex and other official material didn't always refer to "length", just "height", though I think the anime didn't help this. A lot of the Pokémon weren't always on their belly, after all, not even Ekans which can grow an average of six-feet-seven-inches long, but Jessie's Ekans was rarely shown slithering on its belly.

Now Arbok is eleven-and-a-half feet long, but since it's based off the cobra, it's typically portrayed in an upright position. So therefore, I can totally believe Arbok are actually that huge, and it's actually pretty scary to think about. Seviper's huge, too, about eight feet long, but it moves a little differently and is typically scrunched up like such:

So I can believe this fucker's eight feet tall, too, though since this is it technically "sitting up" it's probably about as tall as the trainer, which the PokéDex (when checking Ruby) supports.

Never got why the dex measurements don't include width/length as well as height. Guess they thought that'd be too complex for little bab minds or something?
I just subscribe to the notion that the dex entries are written by the trainers themselves, who are always 10 year olds and don't consider those factors.

Ash has recently captured a Farfetch'd. This is a personal dream capture of mine dating back to the 90s.

I have already been 100% impressed in the captures Ash has already had. A Dragonite and a Gengar were captures I never would have dreamed could happen. But here we are now with a Farfetch'd that's obviously evolving into Sirfetch'd

This being said, I am fully interested in watching through this Generations anime. I havent been that fully invested in the anime since Ash lost to a Deus Ex Machina Darkrai and Latios in a Pokemon League he outright deserved to win.

Alola just didnt do it for me. I know, Ash monumentally won its League but it was too little, too late. They only did it because of the backlash of Ash losing the Kalos League.

Like I said, Captures are what make or break a Series for me. The Alola Captures were lame and had no variety.

Yes but there are still some real oddities with it, like actual snakes being measured in that way is sensible. but Wailord being measured like that? and Dunsparce being as long as Salamance is tall..and measuring furret head to tail when it actually does have feet and a proper height measure?

Edit : Also this is not a complaint as far as I am concerned, this is just one of the oddities that has always existed in the series, like goofy pokemon..and pokemon that would be good if their stats weren't fucking garbo

*Pours one out for Flygon*

Sounds neat but I honestly feel like its been way too many decades for me to start giving a shit about the anime again now after dropping it after Orange Isles ages ago, especially if they waited this long to not make Ash a complete chud. Last time I watched a few episode in a row of it was during a stream after people kept saying Ash would finally win a league (I think it was the XY series where I was impressed with the pics of his new outfit and team) only for him to get yeeted again... So yeah it does feel too little to late to give a shit now. Especially with what's said about that Aloha league shit and how forced the hype and press coverage for it was.

On the subject of Farfetch'd, I just wish Sirfetch'd looked as cool as Galarian Farfetch'd or the Sirfetch'd speculation art that came out before the game.

Honestly Galarian Farfetch'd looks strong enough by itself that it could've been an evolved form for regular Farfetch'd too, with Sirfetch'd as the third form. A little black mask would've done wonders.

I feel like that'd give it more of a bandit feel rather than the knight asthetic that they were obviously going for.

Not really if you treat the black space as an open helmet visor, especially with some additional feathers to simulate the visor.
