Now how canon is the Pokémon Chronicles side-series, since we're on this subject very quick? Like could we really count those episodes as actual canon, or just wave them aside much like with the vast majority of the movies?

The Pokemon obtained in Chronicles(Like Misty's Azurill and Gyarados, and Brock's Steelix) re-appear in the main series, and one of the kids from the Raikou special is in the Johto Pokemon League(the raikou special came out before the johto league arc in Japan), and when in front of a camera he calls out to the two other kids in it.

Also, for the record, Chronicles isn't an actual series, it is a bunch of OVAs and TV specials, some from the Gen II era of the anime but most from the Gen III era, that were released in Japan, most(but not all) originally airing between the Gen II and Gen III anime to build up to to the new series. They were all translated at once(by a different team from the usual one that worked on the anime, hence the large amount of localization errors regarding the names of the characters, especially in the Raikou special) and released as an anthology in the west.

If you're wondering why Brock's mom is in one of them when it was stated she was dead in Brock's debut episode, it is because her being dead was an invention of the 4kids localization team, she simply left her family in the Japanese version.

I feel like this could be a meme or something.
Which makes think about Pokemon memes. They tend be alright imo, but most of time, they feel forced.

Really? Bloody Hell you could have fool me if you said it was a girl. Atleast he looks more passable as a girl then most of the tramps, and danger hairs on twitter.
Yeah I used to think he was a girl too, until a friend told me he was male.
Something about Avery just screams “GAY” to me.

for me its more along the lines of "we want the fujo audience"
Honeslty I like all the Galar leader designs and I don’t mind Avery too much. If he got rid of the frills and the hat it would look much better.
To each their own, but honestly the hat and the frills are the only parts I particularly like

Wait, some of you guys legit thought he was a girl?

Same and then some. Idk, I just find his design to be oddly appealing in the sense that (or at least to me) it aims to represent the weird aspect of the psychic type.

Also, side note: is the guy telekinetically levitating his pokeballs or is there some kind of device in that hat of his that holds them like that?

That would be an amazing twist on the Psychic trainer and explain the giant top hat. But that's too smart for Game Freak.

Tbf weren't most Psychic gym leaders (Bar Tate from gen 3) mostly female?

Edit: realised you said Gym Leaders, not trainers, my Bad.

Not really, but most of the male Psychic trainers were either Obscure, Effeminate Elite 4 or not true monotype.
Will from Gen 2 elite 4 and Lucian from Gen 4 Elite 4 fall into the former category. Dexio and Faba from SuMo (as fights in Dexs case) and Bede from SwSh mostly used psychic types, but weren’t afraid to break the mold and use other types. Bede starts off as Psy/Fairy mix and eventually even goes full fairy.

There’s 4 Female Psychic trainers and SEVEN male ones, but with so many of the latters being mixed cases, it feels like the other way around.

Wait, so the bitch wasn't even dead and just up and abandoned her family? And she comes back? Do they at least chew her out?

She apparently has a lot of "ambitions" she pursues but then gets bored of after a few years. That's why Brock battled her for the right to keep the gym the way it is because she was changing it upon her return. You could say that was his way of chewing her out.

This is actually true to the world of Pokémon Takeshi Shudo built for the anime. In the novelization, it's stated that a lot of adults (mostly the men) are known to just abandon their families to go pursue Pokémon training, but Pokémon training in actuality is difficult to master. So many of them don't return home because they're ashamed of their failure or they died training/battling dangerous Pokémon. Ash's dad was no different, so Delia runs the family restaurant in Pallet Town having put her own Pokémon training dreams on hold because she married young and got pregnant pretty quickly. (And that's why she tamed a wild Mr. Mime so fast.)

EDIT: Oops, I forgot to include a picture of Brock's mom, Lola. Check this out, bitch has ten kids and she still looks this cute.

As an old cartoon sperg I have a decent bit of knowledge on how things work - and I can say there's a lot to be desired from that video you posted. It feels so stiff and lifeless (much like how I feel the games are right now) and there's no sense of weight or movement which is especially jarring when it comes to the slapstick. Mimikyu was cute, and of course there's Scraggy's boner which will no doubt be used as a reaction meme, but other than that it just felt like a boring waste of time.

Not to mention it reeks of trying to capitalize on Cuphead's popularity.

With that in mind however, it would be cool to see a rubber hose Pokemon concept, black and white and all. Maybe even make it the long-awaited Normal/Ghost with the lore being the spirit of an animator possessed the very drawings they worked on or something.
