I have been having weirdly good luck with shiny encounters in Max Raid battles. I’ve ran into three in the past two days. Is there some kind of recent hack or trick people have been using online lately?

In short, yes. With enough patience utilizing exploits, there's a way to make a raid den give out a constant flow of shinies.

Ah, okay. I thought it was weird since my shiny luck is typically shit. But hey, I’m not the one exploiting, just running into it, so why should I complain?

just be wary. There are genuine hackers making illegal pokemon appear, and if you use them online, you might get in serious trouble. Just don't go for like, a den zacian and you should be fine.

It kind of sucks that some legionaries are banned in Battle Tower or other offline stuff like that. At least VS Recorder in at least OR/AS allows one to have them in mock battles.

(I call all legendaries and mythicals legendaries BTW.)

Maybe more will open when the DLC bits are added. Since one of them involves catching old legendaries.

Actually, you're free to use the legendaries in the Battle Tower this time (at least the main trio, dunno about the "extras" as I haven't transferred anything). And as far as I'm aware the NPCs don't use legendaries themselves so you can just Behemoth Blade and Dynamax Cannon everything to death.
 
I'm just waiting for my nigga genesect to be added. I hope it's in one of the updates.

Speaking of which, does anyone in this thread have a favorite legendary/mythical pokemon?

My personal favorite has to be Zygarde. I just love the concept of many smaller creatures coming together to form a massive beast that's a force to be reckoned with. That and the fact that its lore states that its job is to protect to wilderness from a crisis where it's needed the most. Really makes me wish he had at least a Z episode in X & Y to give the big guy some more focus.

Deoxys or genesect are defs my winners for mythical Pokemon. Though Zarude is a strong new contender.
For legendaries, I've always like Zapdos and raikou.

My favorite mythical is Zeraora, it just looks so cool and strong. Sadly i couldn't get one when i was playing Pokemon Ultra Moon because it was an event.

I should point out that, looking through the coding of the Gen VI games, there WAS going to be a follow-up to X and Y, but it was a pair of games. From what one can gather looking at lose bits of data in those games, the cell mechanic you love so much was not the original plan for Zygarde. Rather, it would be more like Kyurem in Black2/White2 and Necrozma in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, where it got 2 version exclusive forms, and in each of these forms its normally useless signature move, Land's Wrath, would transform into either Thousand Waves or Thousand Arrows depending on the form. Mostly likely new Megas would be a thing, too, the best guesses I could give for at least some of them are Mega Slowking and Mega Froslass, as what they did with Mega Gardevoir being in X and Y followed by Mega Gallade in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

The Cell thing was thought up after they decided to do entirely new games for the 20th anniversary, and thus showed it off in the anime before it eventually was added to Sun and Moon. So unfortunately if Zygarde DID get a focus game, it would not be the Zygarde you eventually fell in love with but something else entirely, most likely be something like Kyurem 2.0
