Anyway, for my worst starter, I'd say the Chikorita line. Say what you will about the other starters, but at least they all have a learnset that's manageable. The Chikorita line's moves are mainly for support purposes with most of the more offensive moves being obtainable through other methods. Why is that the case? Why did they make Chikorita the objectively worst starter in gen 2?
If you think about it, Serperior without Contrary is basically a slightly buffed Meganium. Similar stats (only major difference is Speed), similar extremely shallow movepool, just generally not very useful.

Competitively though it's not even close. Contrary was all it took to take Serperior from the depths (it was NU in gen V) to stardom. While Meganium got, Leaf Guard...

Machamp should have just dabbed the boulder away tbh.
1. Does she have no other fighting types? Literally just the Kanto line and that's it.
2. Even if they have put favouritism on Machamp, it still sucks that they made him job so much. Heck the entire line just got canonically downgraded in power with this video.
3. You just know...

No Sirfetch'd, no Grapploct, no Falinks...

Galar Pokemon? What Galar Pokemon? There is only Kanto, goy.

Get ready for Allister's episode where it features nothing but the Gastly line.

To be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if Gym Leaders/Champion's star pokemon were some of the most popular Pokemon purely because of their star power. Especially in the Galar region, where gym leaders are sports stars.

WITH THAT SAID, anyone claiming that the most popular pokemon in Galar isn't Snom is just grossly wrong. Only a little bit better if they think it's Wooloo.

there are things in this world that would bring any person to their breaking point

today i experienced several of those things

just minding my own business, doing some max raids online nbd
oh hey a shiny salazzle, all i gotta do is beat it and catch - AND IT'S GONE
oh hey a shiny ninetales, all i gotta do is beat it and catch - AND IT'S GONE
OH HEY A SHINY RHYPERIOR, ALL I GOTTA DO IS BEAT IT AND CATCH - REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

seriously the catch rate for these stupid max raids should be higher. it's bad enough that i have to spend more time fighting these things, either with AI that are retarded or actual people who are also retarded, but the fact that i only get one chance at catching these pokemon, some of which are already a fucking pain in the ass to encounter, is bullshit.

at least i got a shiny gigantamax gengar, though. guess i'll save the bleach for another day.

I was gonna ask if you used your Masterball, but by the sounds of it, that was the Gmax Gengar. Good choice.

As for the others, all I can do is offer you an F in chat. How did you encounter 4 shinies?

actually i unintentionally used my masterball on a shiny gigantamax charizard - don't even ask. that ended up being a good choice. gengar was caught with an ultra ball. ideally i would have caught all these shinies in premier balls, but because of the fucking catch rates, i finally gave in and started using ultra balls.

shinies in sword/shield are stupidly easy to find because of an exploit people found when doing max raids. it has something to do with changing the internal clock of the game or some shit idk, but the info's out there. anyway, because of this exploit, if you happen to go online, there is a decent chance you will find people inviting people into max raids with shiny pokemon.

also humblbragging but the shinies i currently have are corviknight, magikarp, eevee, goliisopod, kommo-o, charizard, and gengar. if it makes you feel better, though, i missed a shiny reuiniclus, salazzle, ninetales, and rhyperior. so you win some, you lose some.

Chikabros for life.
Don't get me wrong, the Chikorita line has it's ups (much like all the starters), but I'm just annoyed that they gave the poor guy the short end of the stick when compared to the other starters in his generation and onward.

Back in Gen 1-2, the Stadium games made better sounds for all the pocketmons. Yet with Gen 3 and on, they just use the 8-bit GB noises. Why couldn't they use the more realistic N64 sounds?

I have to say, even if I don’t like it personally, Chikorita is pretty useless.

Really, the reason Chikorita is such a jobber in gen 2, and why Cyndaquil is such a big deal, is because they were introduced in a region next to Kanto - and specifically designed to have no overlapping key types. This meant types that had allowed Bulbasaur to storm through were replaced by the underrepresented types Charmander hadn't had a chance to dunk on.

Not that Chikorita is great even with that in mind, but it wouldn't have been terrible.

I am absolutely positive that Mankey's Stadium cry is a stock sound effect that I've heard in countless other video games and movies and whatnot. It seems like they simply used the simian equivalent of the Wilhelm scream for it.

Holyshit I forgot mankey was a pokemon. Looks like a furry bullsack.

Stylistic choice is my guess. Besides the cries have more charm to them.
I agree. The traditional cries are good cause it just makes them sound like animals. This reminds me that there's some people out there like Jim sterling who keep saying the games should give them the anime soundclips but I always found those embarrassing.
