I seriously can't believe all the autismos who thought that less then three months after the game comes out that GF will do a Gen 4 remake. I'll give GF all the shit they want but you're setting your expectations so damn high expecting more when SWSH has the potential of modern day conveniences of DLC(Or hindrances if you go that route).
I do want to state that while it's nice GF is NOT charging us for being able to get the new pokes (as they can be gotten through trade) it's not really something to add on to an argument of "I'm going to buy this because:"
The expansion pass concept will be absolutely worth it when it gets near a point that eclipses USUM for the amount of pokes in the game. But because we know they've stated not all Pokemon will be in this game (Choice wording of the next games from interviews) it will never reach that point.
Also, worth stating: the language of the direct seemed to state that this DLC is replacing a third game. It’s not hard locked in, but they explicitly compared DLC to the third games, and said one advantage is that they can extend the adventure without forcing you to restart it.

I mean originally they were unsure if they could update the game for the missing pokemon, so even if they were already planning the expansion pass at that point, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a second set of gen 8 games they would update it just for compatibility reasons and them having more time to add shit.
for once i wasn't giga-mad at gamefreak. a mystery dungeon remake is based, the dlc looks better than the main game, and hopefully they'll make a second pass or update the game to add in the whole roster. i'm a bit pissy at lando being back, but it's worth it for more regis.
I really want to get hyped the remake of Mystery Dungeon cause I love roguelikes (as in games like Rogue, not just randomizing levels and whatever else) and I love Pokemon but there are several apparent story choices that rub me the wrong way.
You are always a human turned Pokemon. Might seem so insignificant but since you are sent to save the world essentially the Pokemon world cant save itself unless some outsider comes in to fix everything. It would be like a game where an American man is turned into an African man and sent to Africa and solves all the problems and Wakanda is truly established.
They always do the tear jerker moment where you have to leave after the job is done and we are supposes to cry that you are leaving forever yet we always fake out
What made me swear off the MD series forever was during the post credit stuff in the game your partner is eventually benched and will not contribute to the story anymore, your partner that we spent the entire game getting attached to and would have an heroed if you would have left for reals suring the tear jerker fake out is just discarded at some point if you choose to continue with the story. So the game wants to be emotional yet doesnt respect your emotions
Anyway I just wish these random rules didnt weigh down the entire subset of the franchise.
Also the Pokemon dlc seems meh, on the one hand more Pokemon, on the other more story that I feel is mediocre at the best of times and is only going downhill from there.
Yeah the new kanto starter Giagantamaxs are nice looking, Blast looks best.
And the deer. hahahhaa That fucking deer must nonstop be using it's Psychic powers to keep it's head up, so the weigh of that giant ball doesn't snap it's neck.

I... what? You seem to be objecting to, like, standard fantasy plot no. 3. They do this so that the main and perspective character knows as much about the world as the viewer, and thus is prompted to ask and learn for us.
And the games don’t treat all humans as great. The first game had a festering asshole second human, and Gates to Infinity said most of the humans who came down were defeated. Add on that there’s always a second, natural Pokémon who helps you the whole way through to the end, and I feel like your ‘only humans save the world’ take falls apart.
And that’s all putting aside that you looked at a civilisation of talking animals and your mind went straight to Wakanda.
I'm really curious what the levels are gonna be at? 70s like it should? How long could it possibly be if they are actually going to want you to run a new team with this (not)starter.
The confirmation that traditional spin-offs aren't dead right off the bat was nice. Not having to buy the expansion pass to access old mons was surprising, I guess GF hasn't completely turned into EA just yet (though they still didn't give all the mons back when we know damn well they could've). And I think an expansion pass is better than another USUM situation where we have to spend full price to play through what is essentially the same game again.
However 30 bucks is pretty steep to basically "fix" a half-baked product with content that should've been in the base game that was already $60 itself, on top of already having to pay for online and whatever the hell Home costs (which they suspiciously still didn't give us a shred of details for despite it apparently coming out next month). That and they basically lied to our faces yet again. Not even 3 months ago they denied any possibility of DLC/bringing old mons back, and look where we are now.
The hopeful silver lining here is this was their alternative solution to having to pump out an entire new game every year so they can actual give the next installment a proper development cycle.
EDIT: Also forgot the content for the passes have version-exclusive content. Yeah that's, pretty scummy. If you want to experience everything gen 8 has to offer right now you have to hack up $180, that is fucking ridiculous.
This game is going to have a few hundred dollars worth of DLC after all is said and done, this isn't also counting the monthly fee you gotta pay for shit.
Still not buying it, it's steering well into MMO Gay Bullshit Territory and if they couldn't nail the core 60 dollar game they're not going to nail the 30 dollar DLCs.

Unpopular opinion:
Mystery Dungeon DX looks like poop. I hate the hand-drawn style modern games keep doing, the only hand-drawn looking game I like is Yoshi's Island. I have the original DS so I can skip that game.
Don't mistake me for being a contrarian, I really don't like hand-drawn aesthetics as it's cliché at this point, I'm tired of pretentious games trying to stand out this way, it takes away any sense of immersion for me cos it doesn't feel real enough to put myself in their world.
