Gee I wonder!

Charizard getting it's own unique typing confirmed. Regicharizard, Mewcharizard, Charizardquatro, and Therian Form Charizardus incoming.

Kidding aside this is exactly what I wanted. DLC, not a repackaged full price game, no Sinnoh remake (get fucked, Gen three was last Gen that needed one), new content free to people that just wanna play competitive. New areas are all open world.

Blastoise and Venusaur, as well as the Galarian starters getting Gigantomax forms mean nothing to me (though I do like Inteleon's UT sniper tower) unless they give you candies that let Pokemon Gigantomax without having to catch a new one. I never liked the Regi-s, so Regizap(?) and Regidragon mean nothing, am curious about the bird trio.

Fair enough, I take that back, though it still doesn't change the fact they should have all been in from the get go, let alone half a year later.

Difference being you were able to make an informed decision on which exclusives you wanted prior to buying, but now you're locked into DLC that wasn't revealed for over a month after release. They should have allowed you to buy one of either version, regardless of which version you currently own.
So far, the only real difference is who your rival in the new area is. You still get both areas for both games and everything.

Well, that's not true, that fighting legendary looks like it's got a version exclusive evolutions on it too. But that's pretty much it.

Not referring to the quote here, but to me it seems like the expansion passes are for both areas, so, effectively they're about 15 dollars each for each game. Color me optimistic though, since that sounds a bit more reasonable, but I do hope that this is the sign of them adding more stuff

They didn’t really specify the evolution, but that’s a fair point.

And yeah, it’s essentially $15 apiece.

TFW if they make a second pass it will go to a full 60 bucks, making this just a third version with extra steps

Still, not as much of a scam as ULTRA CHANGES

Mmm, I'll disagree with that. Gen 4 had it's issues, like the pacing in the game's dialogue, the lack of fire types in the standard games...

I honestly would be curious how the distortion world would look in a slight upped graphical standing though.

If people really want Game Freak to take more time with their games so everything can be completely polished and all, they really shouldn’t demand a Sinnoh remake this year. Kinda defeats the purpose. Not saying that it won’t happen, just that itd be good to be patient. At least with these expansions, they can just do updates to the current game and not have to make a completely new one.

Oh most definitely, but if you looked at the chat of the direct, you'd see the special people asking for Sinnoh remakes.

That's a bit of an assumption there, again we're in uncharted territory at the moment, so we can't really assume what will happen in the future.

For all we know if there is a second update like that, it could be only 15 or 10 dollars.

Or heck, the best case scenario is if they make a sequel or third version, that they include these areas in them - That'd probably be the best way to go monetarily wise in that regard.

I think the two new Regis might be electric and dragon, though I’m only saying the later cause it’s arm looked like a dragon head.

I agree we are in uncharted waters, no one knows what this future will hold and either way I do think by the end of the switch's life span SWSH will be patched with at least 3 content updates, but economically it makes no sense to release one season pass as 30 with another single pack at 15, for consistency I think it would just make more sense from a business perspective. So it will probably be a "Season Pass 1"(with armor and Crown) and "Season Pass 2"(with whatever that brings)
Either way I prefer this to, say, a third version since I don't have to restart my progress and they can focus on adding to the existing game and not wasting dev time changing content in the main quest

Monetarily wise yes but the level of shit they would get after having players pay 90 bucks for the game and season pass 1 alone might not be worth it. plus if they sell expansions in piece meal like this it's easier for someone to buy over time and also, keep the generation running longer without shoving a new game in stores. sorta like how splatoon or street fighter 5 handled content updates.

Although the dlc look promising but the price tag for them as well as the likely potential of them being packaged in a definitive third version leaves a lot to desire. The best thing about this was the reveal of a MD remake which I am hyped for, especially for a remaster soundtrack. I gotta give props for that DPP remake fakeout with that 2006. I can only imagine the salt.

Aight so I watched the direct a while ago and here's some of my thoughts on it:

-PMD DX looks pretty neat! At least Mega evolution was added
-Why did GF name the mentor Mustard???? Why???? Are they gonna name the mountaineer guy Ketchup????
-Avery's design reminds me of a shittier design of those sword and shield twins in the postgame but Klara looks cute
-The underground feature for the expansion packs reminds me of a mix of the ultra wormhole and Sinnoh tunnel features but legendaries can dynamax??
-I'm so glad Venusaur and Blastoise have a Gigantamax form now
-So the national dex cut was an excuse to add more Pokemon as a DLC for more money?? Yikes
-Well great every legendary is getting added so guess that means we'll have a shitty uber players *cough**cough* smogon sets without megas or Z-moves *cough**cough*
-The Galar bird trio look nice but the red regi and evil Moltres look like Yveltal copies
-The deer legendary's design is so weird???? Why does it have an alien body with a deer head??????
-At least GF is making regular updates after the DLC release but will they fix the game breaking glitches?

Overall I like some of the things in the direct but I dislike the purpose of it *cough* the dex cut *cough*

To be fair, they did say that you didn't have to purchase the DLC in order to get the Pokemon through trade (and I believe transfer-would be surprised if that weren't the case). Thing I'm concerned about is Pokemon Home. It comes out next month and we know nothing about it, like what features the app has or even how much it costs.

True, I'm glad that you can trade off the exclusive mons to players without the DLC and I'm also worried about Home. I highly doubt it'll be a single purchase application and it'll be cheap.
