I got ya. The soundtrack got me hooked to it really.

Don't get me wrong, I like the tunes, and the concept for the evil team is pretty clever, but it kinda made me hard to get into because the game kept getting in the way of the game. That and it's a battery sucker.

Kinda wish they took the route of Duel Links and released a PC port of the game - Or is there one and I'm not aware of it?

Wasn't that was done to encourage player interaction?
That was the original intention, but ever since the advent of online from gen IV onward that excuse has long since become obsolete, since you can generally get everything you need without having to directly interact with a single person (well, that's how it was before they killed the GTS at least), with only a few trivial trade evos and potential events/mythicals as the only exceptions. But they keep doing it anyway because "tradition" and because they can blatantly get away with it. The fact that they have dual packs of what is essentially same game that barely lowers the price yet people still buy them anyway speaks for itself.

And it says something that other IPs have tried this multiple version strategy recently and have failed miserably, like Fire Emblem Fates. Yet Pokemon, as usual, gets a free pass for no other reason than brand recognition and the fact that they've utilized such a business model from the beginning.

I'm going to remain optimistic and hope they'll surprise us this time around with something good.

Btw, has anyone in this thread tried out that "Pokemon Masters" game on mobile? I've tried it out and I'd say it's pretty decent for what it is.
I feel like Masters is bad even by gacha game standards. The devs even had to publicly apologize for the lack of content.

So Pokemon did an oopsie yet again and accidentally showed an image of West Sea Gastrodon (who's currently not obtainable in SWSH) before deleting it, but as always the internet caught it first.

Of course some morons are already clickbaiting and saying a """new""" Pokemon form have been leaked.

Might be confirmation that this is about Pokemon Home, then?

Honestly, Gastrodon is an extremely 'whatever' pokemon but I always thought it's West Sea form is more iconic, mainly due to being the first one you see in DPPt. Bit surprising that East is in there but West isn't.

It's had a fairly good life competetively initially, and it's still alright. Power creep got it.

Also it has one of the best non-Kricketune cries and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.

I mean, if a giant snail monster getting a noisy BJ is your thing, who am I to judge?

Edit: Okay, to be fair, considering the monster the soundbite is representing - A big, friendly, pink sea slug - the sounds (particularly the moistness of it) is very appropriate.

It does sound like it's giving a blowjob like a champ.

Funny autism from the Smogon forums (this franchise needs a Community Watch thread)

There's already a Pokemon thread in Community Watch, although I am surprised there's not more mention of Smogon's community in there.

I was never a competitive battler and I don't check out Smogon at all, but I figured they'd ban Dynamaxing despite the three-turn limit because of some of the Pokemon getting too OP for their own good through it. I don't get why people are freaking the fuck out over it, though.

So... Thoughts on the direct?

Edit: Looks like they're adding about 200 of the cut monsters to the roster.

This looks cute and all, but if multiplayer raids are still broken then I'm out. They said they would be releasing a patch but weren't specific about bug fixes. New special raids available after the patch today. Let's see if they fix it. Seems unlikely given their refusal to patch in the past.

They actually cut the national dex so they could sell it to you as DLC. The absolute state of Game Freak, their newest title receives a ton of fan backlash, and they decide the logical course of action is to add DLC to their borderline unfinished game.
