Speaking of small indie studios, are there any pokemon/SMT clones that are worth giving a shit about? It feels like what I really want out of Pokemon (huge spritebased plotless collectathon with cool extras that support the combat mechanics to kill time during commutes) would be something easily produceable with a couple programmers and a decent art team. I've seen several hacks that basically disembowel the inside of the GB game to make something new and replace most of the art, it doesn't seem like a huge stretch to expect one of those teams to make something novel and marketable.

The closest I can think of is Siralim and that's a bit too grognardy for my tastes.
Try the Dragon Warrior Monsters series which Siralim is based off of. Not as hardcore but it's pretty enjoyable and you get to breed DW slimes so there's that.

Why do all the gym leaders look like bike cyclist?
Because sports theme, because making original designs is hard for a poor little indie studio.

Seriously though as someone who already hates sports I abhor the general gym leader aesthetic this gen. None of them are unique because they all have to wear some type of jersey shit.

I'm not that far in, but from what I can tell, there's definitely a missed opportunity to bring in all sorts of sports related to the gym leaders in their puzzles. They somewhat got it with Milo with Wooloo herding, but can you really call that a sport? The other gym stadiums should have puzzles much more related to their sport profession, so like Nessa's gym should've been all about water polo instead of just flipping switches like this is Ocarina's Water Temple. Opal's gym could be cricket because she looks like the Queen of England, although polo could work, too (if she has herself a Rapidash).

Y'know, things of that nature. But...it doesn't look like any of the gyms are like that. Which defeats the point of the sports theme.

Not sure if this game is what you're looking for but it looks like it can be a decent MMO clone of Pokemon.

You got to hand it to GF, they're armed with some great designers, no limp-wristed, noodle-armed losers here.

Edit: my sarcasm sucks, look at that hand

Here's a 'memey' compilation video of the animation goofs if people don't feel like looking around for them or wanna share it.

Gotta admit all the female gym leaders are built for sex in this game.
A perfect diversionary tactic that is sadly working based on what I've seen. So many issues with the game but who cares it has waifus that make my peepee hard so 10/10 immaculate masterpiece.

In other news it's two days in and Japan still has no official statement on Dexit (let alone "movxit"). They really were going to completely sweep that shit under the rug in front of their own country's fanbase. Incredible.

How am i supposed to coom to this, fag?

Imagine if the full dex was implemented, you brought everything up and the game shit itself. I guess it was a blessing in disguise?

I played the game for a good chuck of time yesterday and have really been enjoying it. I like all the new Pokémon and variants so far, the Open Wild area is a great place to go explore and kill time, and I’ve had a lot of fun with everything. Glad I didn’t read the leaks.
