kinda missed this one but some guy on reddit is having problems as well now
40 minutes into the game and my switch started to act strangely. First my joycon started to disconnect and then the switch freezed. I tried soft and hard resetting but the problem won't go away. Here are some of the error's code i got: 2144-0001 / 2107-0445 / 2143-0811
I called the assistence and they told me that i'll have to pay for my repair, does anyone had the same experience? How much can they charge you?
https://youtu.be/YZizZBuu5Os (EDIT: The switch sometimes let me start the game, this is what happens, i can't move my character and the switch freeze) https://youtu.be/5HObw93lLI0 https://imgur.com/a/rk8YU1i https://imgur.com/a/fQlTST8 (EDIT: now i can't even start the game and i get this beautiful orange screen)
EDIT: i didn't mentioned that i bought my switch at launch. Idk if this can help. Never installed bootleg firmware, always bought my games. Never dropped nor damaged my switch. Sorry for my bad english but i'm a pasta eater, hope your game won't ruin your console.
UPDATE: I've been trying all day to start the game and It seems that now it's running. I'll edit the comment if something bad happen
EDIT 1: Sometimes the a button does not work. The Joycon disconnected but this time recconected, the switch didn't crash
EDIT 2: played the game for about 10 minutes. Went to the home screen and tried to conncect to the wifi. The console won't connect. Put to sleep mode but the switch didn't want to turn on again. I shut down manually the console.
EDIT 3: Started again the game, crashed as soon as i was able to move my character. The error code is: 2107-0445
EDIT 4: restarted the system, the game crashed immediately and guess who's back? https://imgur.com/a/wXYDsG0
EDIT 5: Tried to re-download some of my game data's but it seemed impossible to connect to my wifi. While restarting the switch got stuck. How funny, the save files weights 66,6 mb... My game is haunted? Also sometimes some button of my Joycons wont work. I'm losing all my hope, i called the assistance and started a practice...
EDIT 6: Maybe it's not Sw fault, the switch went crazy... I'll send the console to the assistance on Monday, hope it won't cost too much... i just want to play the game

The switch to 3d really fucked them up in the long term, i don't think its unreasonable to say that nobody in gamefreak knows how to look up or down.
With 200 people on staff how the fuck could they not design a solid 3d game?

It makes me want to know just how bad a shitshow metroid Prime 4 was before they axed it. I mean Pokemon got released in this state, was the Metroid prime 4 demo nothing but a screen saver and people acting the game out with cardboard props as millions were embezzled?

People have been really quick to blame the crashes on users having hacked firmware, or blaming it on literally everything else under the sun except this shitty buggy trash fire. It's bullshit that he has to pay Nintendo to flash his console after GF's product broke it.

I have no doubt the switch's OS played some forum in this, However this was a problem Nintendo themselves have circumvented ever since 2017, it barely even shows up anymore and only with updates that add shit to the game does it get fucked. Game Freak however, bizarrely has made it to where they got fucked from even lets go as it wasn't even an issue in that game and on launch day in around 2-3 years to boot. So yeah the exploit is probably due to the OS, but game freak was too fucking dumb to see why not to fuck with that part of the code.

Problem with the OS or not, every other game has somehow mysteriously managed to avoid it for the entire time the console has been out. This is probably some rare corner-case issue interacting with Game Freak's awful code. There's been a bunch of smug "they deserved it did you see what firmware they were running", and the Reddit post throws their rationalization out the window.

Which means that, like the pointless inflation of the file sizes for each model in the game, this sect of the fanbase is going to ignore these realizations for as long as possible. And if they do acknowledge these things, it'll be to defend them poorly.

Wait till these guys learn about the hard bricks though
"Yeah, y'see, this happened with Piranha Plant too, so it's not actually deleting saves! Neener neener neener, you toxic asshats on my T I M E L I N E! That'll teach you to question me and my prowess on TWITTER DOT COM!!!"
"Okay but what about the bricked Switches?"
"...The what?"

Smash Ultimate had a similar problem when using certain characters in certain modes, but it was caused by counterfeit SD cards and only affected Smash data. Since the problem we're seeing here is due in large part to Nintendo's choice of firmware I wouldn't be surprised if other games had similar issues, although perhaps not to this scale.

To be honest this actually makes it worse, in my opinion. Nintendo knew about a similar problem before and did nothing to patch it. Counterfeit SD cards are incredibly common. Most people aren't even aware that their card isn't legit until it has some kind of catastrophic problem, and frankly, there's no reason to suspect a counterfeit card if it's worked for every other game fine up until this one. Fake cards are common enough that Nintendo should have patched this issue, and Game Freak should have tested for this. So many things about this game feel rushed, half-half baked, and untested.

Everyone expects small launch bugs. The key word here is small. They don't expect a potentially catastrophic failure from a AAA title.

EDIT: Actually this is irrelevant - the Italian Reddit user is saying that he doesn't have an SD card in his Switch at all.

$50!? HA. YEAH. No. Switch only takes microSDs, and only certain types at that.
Try upwards of around $60 to $70, unless you want a complete lack of space for large games like BotW, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon...and/or literally every third party game for the Switch right now.

Nah; any decent sdxc will work. There’s just an endemic counterfeit problem going on right now. That 128g with the Star was 25$ a few days ago on amazon; I’m holding out for the rumored 60$ 400gb on Black Friday so I can cram every game ever released pre-2000 on mine.

Switch spergin’: the switch supports exFAT formatted cards.. very, very badly. A lot of simultaneous IO ops on different files will fuck your card up, but in a much different way than what’s being shown as a result of this Pokémon corruption. This has been a thing ever since the exFAT support was added and the homebrew community thought of Retroarch as a giant boogieman for a good month or so after it got ported due to its metadata scanner reliably triggering the bug until one of the scene’s prominent homebrew devs traced it through and proved it was something happening in the firmware rather than retroarch itself.

E: this was like a year ago too and Nintendo still hasn’t fixed it and the only way to get a card over 128gb formatted as fat32 on windows is to use a nonstandard tool. Great quality control all around.

Microsds 32gb and over are formatted exFAT by default, topped with the deniers going YOU ARE A PIRATE WITH A HACKED SWITCH, lots of tears will be shed.

This circle jerk is off the hook. Switches and it's joycons have been glitchy since launch. Now anytime something goes haywire, Pokemon is getting blamed. The issue has to do with how SD cards are formatted and how the system reads it. This isn't it the first time this issue has happened. So I get it, circle jerks feel good, but GameFreak can only code so well and want to do so much. Nintendo has acknowledged this in the past, it isn't new, and it isn't GameFreaks fault.

On a ligther note, there's some good news for shiny hunters. While the starters you get at the beginning are shiny-locked it's still possible to get shiny versions via breeding. There's also word that Pokemon that are too high level to be caught are automatically shiny-locked, and only Pokemon that are catchable have the chance to be shiny.
Apologies for the grotesque amounts of soy in that thumbnail.

And on a shitposty note, apparently the game's bad word filter doesn't work if you put another word in front of the restricted word.

Any profanity can pass the check if it has a word or letter preface before it. It's beyond a joke how easy it is to turn what is a pretty G rated game into something else. Not to mention the endless hours of handholding dialogue become bearable if not even enjoyable this way.

once again I have to show this

this is the septs that keeps on giving
Note: within ten minutes of posting I found this
We bricked now, apparently it is a physical copy

I'd like to point out that VP has already pointed that some of the bricked issues are possibly not the game's fault, https://boards.4channel.org/vp/thread/41205392#p41206988

But the hardware's fault.

And this has been an issue since 2017, https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22628/~/solid-color-on-screen

So it might not essentially be the games' fault in that regard.

Granted, I'm not too tech savvy in that regard, but at the very least we shouldn't immediately pour all the gasoline on to GF when this has been an issue since near the switch's inception. Again, maybe I'm wrong on this, but I'd rather not dive head first into the shallow end of a pool.
