Digimon Cyber Sleuth is a fantastic game in almost every way. However I would not recommend it to anyone who wants an alternative to SwSh for a few reasons.

-Despite the great story there is a TON of filler. It is ten times worse than Gen VII.
-The dungeons are very sparse and extremely linear.
-There is no open world.
-The battle system is almost the exact same rock paper scissors as the Pokemon games.
-The game is extremely easy except and Hard Mode is supposedly extremely unbalanced.
-All the Digimon in your party get EXP, including the ones in your reserve slots. Permanent EXP share.
-Speaking of EXP there are Digimon with EXP boosting abilities that stack. You can get them pretty early in the game. Late game if you get those same Digimon that can hold EXP items that stack even more you can fly to level 99 in a matter of four or five battles.
-The battle animation are much better than SwSh...except only for signature moves. Normal moves are poor quality and recycled a lot.

Don’t get me wrong these games are amazing and I would highly recommend them but people who haven’t played them need to take into account that both games suffer the same problems as the 3DS and Switch Pokemon games.

You know, I've been trying to think about why I'm not as bothered about the Dexit as most people and I've come to the conclusion that it's because I emulated a lot of the games. I played Blue when it came out and I had friends who had Red so we traded. I was hyped for Gold/Silver so I got Silver when it came out because I still had a gameboy, but by that point a lot of my friends had moved on, so I didn't trade much with anyone. I never had an advance, so it wasn't until several years later that I played Ruby/Sapphire on visualboy and Diamond/Sapphire on DeSmuME, neither of which allow for trading. I did have a DS eventually that I played Heart Gold on, purely for nostalgia, but I emulated Black I think around the time of its release (or as soon as a rom was available). I haven't played Black2, X/Y or Sun/Moon. But basically, the way I played all of the Pokemon games meant that even if I had favorites, I couldn't port them over. I had to play with the line up that was given to me. I'm used to playing with new sets and seeing old ones come and go.

I have a Switch now, so I probably will be playing Sword/Shield, but I can't imagine the actual dex affecting my opinion too badly. If the visual quality and difficulty is as bad as has been shown, then yeah, I'll be disappointed, but not getting all the starters? That's been my experience in nearly every single generation anyway.

This doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Not only is IGN doing it for money from site traffic and clickbait they're also doing it to guarantee that Nintendo keeps giving them review copies of future games which, in turn, will allow them to continue making MORE money.

Sword and Shield doesn't even have all 3 of the original starters. Many fan favorites and iconic Pokemon were cut as well. Even some of the heavily marketed Pokemon from the past who made appearances in spin-off titles or crossover titles were gone. Then there's the fact that older Pokemon and moves were cut, especially when Game Freak made sure to avoid a repeat of the issue where Pokemon from Gens 1-2 were not transferable to 3+ for years.

Cyber Sleuth also didn't have every single Digimon and it makes sense when there's around 1,300 with many being reskins/variants. But they made sure to cover the bases when it came to the most popular Digimon. Sword and Shield couldn't be bothered to do that.

They know about gen 1 nostalgia, but they have the most remarkable blind spot when it comes to any gen past that. There's loads of people who didn't start with gen one, but for some reason that is all they think any fan past 12 cares about. I'm referring in particular to stuff like how they handled the battle frontier in the R/S remakes. It makes it even worse considering how well HG/SS handled it, they carried over improvements from Crystal, there was no reason to assume ORAS wouldn't carry the biggest feature from Emerald. If I held shares in the franchise, I'd be pissed they didn't utilize the nostalgia factor to its fullest.

Me? I'm getting my copy regardless of what some Twitterfags say. I have been looking forward to it, I'm gonna have fun and that's all I ask from my vidya, to entertain me. Shit I bought Skyrim on the Switch BECAUSE it was a terrible port and I had a blast fucking around with glitches.
