And I know it's still far-fetched an idea but, do y'all think this one will have VA work in it? Like from the previews shown unlike the other ones character were speaking with no text boxes... Unless it'll be at the bottom, it would be kinda cool if that did add voices to this game now, it'd at least make it seem worth the switch from 3DS to Switch.
Lol no, they have the anime to give them even a semblance of a personality and give them voices, why put that much effort into the game and have to pay voice actors? Plus, they "supposedly" dont have any space for the pokemon let alone voice files (well, more than the pokemon sounds at least), if vocals were added people would demand that space go towards reading the other pokemon.

Digimon does it but pokemon will almost certainly stick to voiceless.

Calm down, I'm not trying to defend the game or anything, I just feel like all that could about all of this has already been said and that retreating that ground is kind of a waste of breath.

Edit: whoops forgot the "not"
I didn't know if it had been mentioned just how insanely insulting his explanation for why there will be no national dex was. I just thought I'd bring it up.

Sorry, but if I want a game company to lie to my face with impunity and pretend they're still better than me, i'll go to fucking EA. I don't expect that behavior from nintendo.

despite this, I'm still a fan and will buy this game........ but this is the last unless major changes in the next game happen.

While I won't get into an argument about the anime being the only thing that gives the characters personalities. I will say that while voice acting would be nice, it's not worth the effort. It's like using a fruit topping on a cake, it's a nice addition and gives it some extra flavor, but it isn't needed (besides they gave the mascot pokemon the VA's cry, so it's not like they can't or won't do it).

NGL, the story mode of Sun/Moon has completely burned me out of mainstream pokemon games. I am not their target audience anymore.
I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I remember a while back I saw a meme berating ign for calling pokemon repetitive and call of duty better but when I think back on said meme IGN wasn't wrong.

Pokemon is a game intended for kids and that is a good demographic to target but at the same time I think that focusing on adult pokemon fans is also a good idea as well.

It would be neat if they did a Pokemon game marketed towards actual adult or older teen pokemon fans and not try to use nostalgia to draw in folks. Can you imagine a game in which you're an adult trainer who has already finished their journey and become the champion? In which you help the next generation of pokemon trainers rise to eventually defeat you?

Unfortunately, the only real attention for adults has been the human characters, and that's been especially blatant with Galar. I'm not even going to remotely pretend Pokemon hasn't been full of eye candy since day 1 but goddamn, it's like every important NPC we've gotten so far (short of the Professor) is scientifically engineered to make as many pants tents as possible. Fucking Bea with her impossibly vacuum-sealed torso shirt.

Alola was heading this direction too, it was a waifu paradise, but I swear it's all anyone talks about with this latest region. When Dexit/N64 tree comments aren't being tossed, it's all about the women. And frankly it's gotten quite obnoxious.

Yeah, only a few, playing Black 2 right now. Bought Moon and don't think I'll ever enjoy Pokemon as much as I did as a kid, especially with the way Sword and Shield are looking.

I haven't been paying close attention to the character designs but I have noticed that a lot of the females designs have been a tad gaudy.
That could just me though. I absolutely LOVED Cynthia's design and she was covered in black from head to toe. I was also a fan of Diantha's design as well. They didn't go too crazy with them.

Sweet fucking lord how much are you going to beat this subject into the fucking ground

NGL it would be kinda great if Pokemon games actually EVOLVED (Pun intended) like how Mario, Zelda, hell even Fire Emblem did om the switch. Sure you can't program all 900+ Pokemon but at least update the ones you have in the game. It's too late for SW and SH, but whatever the 3rd one is could at least look like it was worth being on a Console rather than a handheld. Like I'll give GF the excuse that it's the first Pokemon game after gen 7 (With more than 800 Pokemon) so the models are gonna be hard. But at least make the next game better, ask for help (Like they did for GS with Iwata) or DONT FUCKING RELEASE THE GAMES ANNUALLY.

In what regard? Pokemon is doing what Mario, Zelda, and Fire Emblem. Innovating their respective formulas.

There's a part of me that believes SWSH looks like an uprezzed 3DS game, because it was a 3DS game at one point. Before the console even hit the shelves TPC CEO claimed the Switch would be an automatic failure.
With that in mind, the all around lower quality of SWSH compared to its contemporaries and rampant reuse of assets (as in more than usual, recycling assets is commonplace but it's so glaring in this instance for what's supposed to be a dramatic graphical and technological jump) suddenly makes a lot more sense.

Not outright saying it's a fact, there's no way of knowing unless datamines tell us something specific, but still something to ponder.

But that wouldn't make sense myriad of reasons. Before USUM were released GameFreak stated that USUM would be the last Pokemon games on that system. Why would GameFreak be making a 3ds game in 2018/2019, a system they said themselves they stopped supporting. Even then graphics/models/textures that are used in Sw/Sh are at a higher fidelity than what the 3ds could handle. TPC doesn't represent GameFreak at as a whole. Ishihara was the only one who said this and he doesn't even work at GameFreak.

Sorry if I acted like a shill

Hello again Anon_Star!

As I said earlier this series needs to pick a direction and stay with it. They have to stop trying to please everyone. XY and SM tried too hard to cater to everyone and it didn't work out well. I'd rather have a game solely aimed at kids that is high quality than a mediocre or awful game that panders to old and new fans.

Besides outside of the autistic adults who can't let go of the series will an "adult" Pokemon game even sell well? We had Colosseum and its sequel being darker and more mature compared to mainline games and yet they were critically panned the last time I checked.

Pokemon XD was just a bit darker but ultimately it was just a reused plot from the first game. I think the darkest part is when you get to the factory but that was really it. You still played as a child and there was still more light hearted stuff that overshadowed most everything so it wasn't much of an improvement from the first game. I will say though that the music is A+.
The gamecube games weren't really catered towards adults I think as they just wanted a slightly more "mature" games to pander to the kids who wanted an edgier pokemon game.

I see what you're saying. It has been years since I played the games so my memory is quite fuzzy. I still wonder if an edgier spin off Pokemon game would work, especially now that there is no console and handheld split like before.

Honestly what completely killed it for me was the hours long obligatory tutorial, the idea of having to do it again kills me.

Like, I'm the first to say all pokemon games have a pretty easy story mode overall, but the way sun/moon hold your hand was honestly unbearable.
