Thought I'd give this guy a mention.

View attachment 904918

This guy's reasoning is that since children will buy their games and apparently have no self-control or concept of money's value, that's game freak (or the pokemon company) exploiting their customers. Here's them trying to explain it to one of the replyers:

I agree with the sentiment that children have tend to have little to no self control and don't understand the value of money which is pretty obvious but to call that exploiting their customers is laughable especially when the other guy brings up the parents.

I've seen this national dex being cut thing as inevitable with the fact there are over 800 currently.
Speaking of which, there's a bit of a trick question involved here. With this installment, they claim there's now over a 1,000 Pokemon, but here's the catch, they said "Including forms." What does that mean? What constitutes as a form in this scenario?

Because as things stand now, pre-Galar is 875 if you factor in Alolan forms and megas (which is sad if they actually count the latter considering, you know, they're outright gone), even more if they mean every form like Wormadam, Shaymin, Meloetta, ect. In fact I'm inclined to believe that they really do count every single form and variation with the 1,000 claim, because just Alolan forms and megas means 125 new mons/forms minimum, which sure as hell ain't happening with how many other corners they've cut as it is. Unless the Gigantamaxing forms inflate the number which I can definitely see happening...

Them not having a national dex and their explaination should be offensive to everyone. fact: DLC exists. Even if they couldn't get every single pokemon in the game before launch, they could launch the rest as free DLC, hell they could even do it as paid DLC.

but no. instead matsuda said no and lied to everyone's faces, as if we're all stupid.

What bothers me is that the claim of dexit as an inevitability is horseshit. This isn't some third rate lesser IP, this is one of the most prolific and highest selling franchises of all time. And before someone pulls the card of how the games sell a fraction of the merchandising, the main series is still placed on a pedestal next to Mario for a goddamn reason.

Yet it's like they went out of their way to put as little effort into SWSH as possible even though the dex issue could've easily been solved in a plethora of ways. Giving more time (not delay, clearly too late at this point, but space out the releases for fuck's sake to give the devs more time to actually polish things so we don't get N64 trees), hiring more people that actually know how to program because GF still can't code for shit (reminder that the extra trip through Kanto wouldn't have happened without Iwata swooping in to save their asses, they've always been awful at this), patching in the missing mons later as you've said, or hell even adding them all back in the subsequent games of the gen, and other potential solutions.

But no. Instead they divided their already small team for a group working on triple A titles in half, gave priority to a game nobody's going to remember just like the rest of their side projects, and instead of even attempting to appease the angered masses they essentially said "This is how it's going to be from now on, fuck you" as a response. What an utter joke.

Oh man here we go... I think at this point all that's been said about the national dex and the overall management of the games have already been disscussed extensively. @BrandedEagle I get you want to start up some discussion but may I suggest a different topic to talk about?

What is there to talk about? Pretty much everyone's joked about the DynaMax shit being just a terrible idea and an obvious gimmick, we've lost all the unique spinoffs like Ranger for Let's Go and the mobile shit, and the new designs are more memes than anything else (I want to FUCK that sheep). Otherwise it's just "wow, the town looks okay" or "what Pokemon from other regions are making the cut?"

If people want to come into this thread and discuss the blunders Game Freak has made with this game without being autistic, they can. The Star Wars thread at this point is just a memorial. You come off like you're defending this game to the death more than they come off as particularly annoying, although I get some people in this thread are excited for it. When the game comes out, we'll know if it sucks or not. Or maybe it'll pick up when a Sinnoh remake is announced, who knows. I hope the Sinnoh remake has the fucking National Dex.

Calm down, I'm not trying to defend the game or anything, I just feel like all that could about all of this has already been said and that retreating that ground is kind of a waste of breath.

Edit: whoops forgot the "not"

The problem is that they're dripfeeding shit, and it's not like it's all major. The past few pages have been nostalgia over the old games as a result. If someone wants to give their thoughts on this stuff because they didn't see this thread before or whatever, they can.

While there has already discussion over this in the thread, you might be right, go on ahead.

Sorry, I went on that tangent again. I'll throw in something different here.

Apparently there's hints of a Galarian Klink line. There's an image of one in both the new jobs mode and on Team Yell's clothing.

Prof. Juniper even mentions that Klink started to appear sometime during the industrial age, so the England equivalent region would make perfect sense as the line's "original" home. While generally not well liked (the Klink line tends to get tossed in the Garbodor and Vanilluxe hate pile), I'm excited. Klinklang's my favorite Steel type.

EDIT: @Nauseated Courgi Nah you had a point. I've already done that paragraph rant half a dozen times here already, even after I already said I needed to stop doing it. But let's let bygones be bygones at any rate, no harm done.

Same actually, Klink got some pretty sick sweeps when I battled with it online and ever since then those gears hold a special place in my heart. If these rumors are true, then this is hype!

NGL it would be kinda great if Pokemon games actually EVOLVED (Pun intended) like how Mario, Zelda, hell even Fire Emblem did om the switch. Sure you can't program all 900+ Pokemon but at least update the ones you have in the game. It's too late for SW and SH, but whatever the 3rd one is could at least look like it was worth being on a Console rather than a handheld. Like I'll give GF the excuse that it's the first Pokemon game after gen 7 (With more than 800 Pokemon) so the models are gonna be hard. But at least make the next game better, ask for help (Like they did for GS with Iwata) or DONT FUCKING RELEASE THE GAMES ANNUALLY.

At the end of the World Championship that was held last week, one of the trophies that was given to one of the runner-up players in the Closing Ceremony actually broke on-stream:

Reports said that the kid did get a non-broken one afterwards, but this happening live on-stream pretty much sums up the state of the game to come. You do have to feel bad for the kid though, as he tried his best to keep his composure when a fail like this happens.

Yesh. That was painful to watch.

There's a part of me that believes SWSH looks like an uprezzed 3DS game, because it was a 3DS game at one point. Before the console even hit the shelves TPC CEO claimed the Switch would be an automatic failure.
With that in mind, the all around lower quality of SWSH compared to its contemporaries and rampant reuse of assets (as in more than usual, recycling assets is commonplace but it's so glaring in this instance for what's supposed to be a dramatic graphical and technological jump) suddenly makes a lot more sense.

Not outright saying it's a fact, there's no way of knowing unless datamines tell us something specific, but still something to ponder.

And I know it's still far-fetched an idea but, do y'all think this one will have VA work in it? Like from the previews shown unlike the other ones character were speaking with no text boxes... Unless it'll be at the bottom, it would be kinda cool if that did add voices to this game now, it'd at least make it seem worth the switch from 3DS to Switch.
