New Detective Pikachu trailer and possible Gen VIII news in the same week? No wonder Pokémon fans are so spoiled, Nintendo pampers us too much.

Maybe this is pretty sketchy, but I was just super interested by the cut Trainers that I just have to point this out as at least it is confirmed:
678015
678020

This explains his anime counterpart so much, that always confused me as a kid. But how interesting that they changed a simple army guy into a scientist (complete with a new design) who's buddies with Dr. Fuji. Maybe that explains his backstory of why he's into Fire Pokémon, I've wondered exactly when and where Blaine got lost in the mountains and was subsequently rescued by Moltres. Might've been a carryover from his army days.

Most of those Beta Pokémon make sense though. I doubt lousy Fakemon makers ever thought of a baby Blastoise and an alternate Wartortle evolution.

I dont want a fire starter with its final evolution being a fire/fighting looking ripoff. I get pyroar was fire/dark, but dear God switch it up.

Also, more eeveelution's. Specifically, I've wanted a poison type one ever since I saw some fan made ones online forever ago.

I think Nintendo has gotten the message on fire/fighting starters, so we shouldn't need to worry about that. We still have Ox, Snake, Rabbit, Goat, and Horse left in the Chinese Zodiac for fire starters, I'm rooting for Snake, we could use a good Snake Starter.

  • Brand new Mega Evolutions (particularly for those who actually need one like Ninetales, Persian, Zebstrika, Flygon, etc)
  • More eeveelutions. I've been hoping for a dragon and ghost one for what feels like ages now.
  • More regional variants. This is honestly a really great idea, even if some of the forms were a huge let down. I will never get over how ugly alolan persian is. I understand what they were going for, but I still think it looks like shit.
  • Fairy-typing to be nerfed. It's just too strong defensively. At least make it weak towards fire or get rid of the bug resistance.
  • New evolutions for pokemon like Farfetch'd, Stantler, Spinda, etc.
  • Better cutscenes.
  • Less handholding. Pokemon games were never that hard to figure out. Stop making it insultingly easy.
  • New hidden abilities.
  • Better story. Gen 7 really dropped the ball when it came to the actual plot of the games.
  • A dialing back on legendaries. Gen 7 gave us way too many.
  • A region either based on Africa, Australia, or Scandinavia.

  • Mountain region (adapted from a real place, like Andes or Himalaya)
I've heard rumours (not sure if I'm up to date on this) that the new region could be based on the UK. I'm really hoping that's not the case. Kalos is my least favourite region and I don't really want another one based on Northwestern Europe. Also, I live in the UK, so it would be kind of boring for me, though I do understand it would be a nice change of pace for Japanese/International players.

I'd really love a region based on parts of Australia or New Zealand, but I can understand Game Freak not wanting to do another tropical and/or island setting after Alola. If it is going end up being based on somewhere in Europe, I think Greece would probably be my choice of country to base it on (although that's highly unlikely). That way you could have the mainland and the smaller islands which could be similar to the Sevii Islands from Leaf Green/Fire Red.

New evolutions for pokemon like Farfetch'd, Stantler, Spinda, etc

I don't think we're getting new Evolutions for old Pokemon ever again (besides Eevee, who will some day have all types). I think they realized that was a mistake in Gen 4, and ate instead focusing on optional forms/mega etc that keep the Dex number, but give them something new.

A dialing back on legendaries. Gen 7 gave us way too many

Yeah that was a shame, I thought they learned their lesson after Gen 5 had what, 12 or 13 legendaries? Gen 6 I think had half that.

I've heard rumours (not sure if I'm up to date on this) that the new region could be based on the UK

Ugh, I think the ocean is over represented in Pokemon and would really like a region that just has lakes and rivers and only add a minority of the area.

The less new "Mega" evolutions, the better.

Gen 6 had its fun with the misuse of that term. And those very lazy and unoriginal "Ite" names.

There will probably be a new format, like Z moves. Where using them isn't necessary in the least, but please still try it!

Last Gen had no new ones. I like them doing the extra content that doesn't have to return (Regional forms, mega Evolutions, ultra beasts) they just need to actually cut them. I'm sure post game of this new one you can go find a dimensional lab that'll let you catch half the ultra beasts per version.

Let them disappear, then make a big deal about their return.

Except regional forms. Those are fantastic, every game needs them, including remakes.

Supposedly they're going to make Gen 8 geared towards older fans, and with LGPE's poor reception they may be serious this time. Lots of fans feel insulted when they have to learn how to catch a Pokemon each and every single time they start a new game, or learn that fire beats grass, etc. I hope they take our complaints to heart, the fanbase is only getting older and kids aren't new to video games and technology anymore.

I hope that they bring back something like the key (I think it was called a key) system in Black and White, where you could make the game easier or harder. Gen 5 was my favorite gen simply because the game's story was good (For a Pokemon game) and the game wasn't painfully easy. The starters could've been a little better, I'm not a huge fan of any of them save for Snivy and it's evolutions, but I generally enjoyed most of the gen 5 Pokemon designs, and that includes everyone's favorite trash bag and ice cream cone.

I just want something that feels as awesome as the first time I played Pokémon, but I've got a good feeling that's impossible. I'd settle for not having the UK as a region. There's nothing of interest their. I'm gunning for Texas.

They've been claiming that since Gen 5.

Source? I remember them clearly saying it was a soft reboot not that it's not beginner friendly. And even then when it comes to Pokemon games I don't recommend the gen 5 games to newbies because the games are actually some of the harder ones (at least in pokemon terms) gen 6 never really had an announcement like that. They basically played up the new 3d world thing and gen 7 was advertised as an exotic location. So really, they haven't. And considering how they made a schism in the franchise with LGPE, this could be a bit more different than what we're used to.

To be fair, Gen 5 is arguably the darkest out of the main series. It might explain why decided to tone down the newer games.

Seriously, I better not end up seeing more beloved icons of Video games I've known for a decade or more with new body parts and arrogant, cocky expressions on their face, over a transformation that isn't permanent, is not a proper use of the word "Mega", and is used by a very poorly thought-named item.

Give us something real to go with Detective Pikachu's Universe. Make everything look like real cities.

Not to rain on your parade but it's prolly not gonna happen. I think pokemon should keep the cartoony graphics. The more you try to make things "real" the worse they tend to age in games. I think the cartoony style is a better bet so while things are dated, they don't look as dated as lackluster facial models.

Pokémon aging poorly? That ship sailed over half a decade ago.

If they did go with something different, it’s just be a one-time spin-off kinda thing.

If they are going to do the UK, badges should be loicenses.

Though the game taking place in Australia would be much better.

I stopped playing around X because I just hated spending money on the same game every year. Also no one in school could ever beat me so got bored.
