Does anyone have a starter they've never picked? The games have been around for enough time for many runthroughs.

I've never chosen Tepig or Froakie.
Fennekin and Chespin because playing Y once is enough for me.

After playing DPPt so much I concluded I just don't like the Sinnoh starters, but I lean towards Piplup because Empoleon is really strong defensively plus penguins are cool. Conversely I like all the Hoenn starters, although I like Grovyle better than Sceptile. He looked cooler as a feathered dinosaur rather than a giant iguana with a tree on his ass.

Meltan's evolution, Melmetal, has been revealed. It is also a pure Steel type. To evolve Meltan you need to use 400 Meltan candies.
I’m suddenly reminded of that old as scomic ad about the nerd getting sand kicked in his face, getting a mail order workout kit, and then getting super buff and knocking out the bully.

I'm simultaniously dreading and looking forward to Pokemon Lets Go (straight in the fucking bin)

I think it's gonna do well commercially first thing, then critically it's gonna fucking bomb. I like a lot of the new features they're bringing such as pokemon go compatibility, pokemon following you and co op. Everything else is shit; only kanto pokes, no battles outside of trainers, dunno if breeding is gonna be a thing but I hope it is.
I'm all for shaking things up, but a big appeal of Pokemon is the more competive aspects for older fans, I get they have to appeal to the younglings but all these changes feel like 1 step forward 2 steps back.

And I'm probably gonna buy it like a the freak I am

Apparently there isn't going to be breeding.

Yeah, I think it's just to tide people over until the actual main game comes out, it's just another Kanto and how many times have we been through it? It's just to drum up hype.

I'm mainly getting it because I want my pokemon to follow me.

Since I'm going to be on a bus for 6-10 hours in a few days I'm probably going to be shiny breeding in gen 2 since it has the good breeding odds with shiny ditto, anyone want me to try breeding a shiny for them? Not promising anything since I have terrible luck just want something to do on the bus besides crocheting lol.

Well, I've managed to successfully RNG my first Pokemon, which is an Adamant Elgyem. I've been needing it, because I wanted something with Synchronize to get an Adamant nature Mawile with. As for questions why I didn't RNG the Mawile? Well, I plan to hunt for better IVs, and potentially a shiny through SOS chaining. Since RNG can be a bitch with frames, and how you pretty much need to get lucky for the initial seeds. Plus, this allows my odds of getting an Adamant Mawile to go up.

I've almost completed my journey from gen 1 to gen 7. Well, almost.

I've done 1-4 and just gotta get to route 15 in W2.

Then I'll do Y and Omega Sapphire, which I never completed.

Last time I played was Heart Gold, no one in highschool could beat me and I just got really bored of it because my teams were pokemon I've had through a bunch of the past gen games via transferring. So i knew they were already OP with EV training.

Whoever bought my game from game stop is lucky. Bunch of shinys that took so long to get esp legendaries that took months to get with reset and loading. And just OP teams of each element.

My favorites would be Typhlosion,Gardevoir,Arceus,Muk,Gengar,Rayquaza,Lugia,Hitmon Chan,Chansey, Houndoom, Ho-oh and Swampert.

Hey. First time poster in this thread.

I finished the main game of Ultra Moon last night having not played a Pokemon game since Black & White 2 (I didn’t even get to the first gym on that one because I got bored). I’ve been playing Pokemon since I was nine, starting with the original Sapphire Version.

I always played like an absolute noob though - playing with a overleveled starter and an HM slave before trying to take on the Elite Four with my starter and a legendary which never worked out well.

Last night was the first time I ever beat the Elite Four in a Pokemon game. Before that I’d always get frustrated and give up. I managed to do it on my first try and kept up my streak of not whiting out for the entire game (closest I came was at Totem Araquanid - fuck that thing). It was tough, but I managed to beat Hau without much trouble.

It was the first time I played properly with a balanced team, which consisted of Snorlax, Malamar, Magnezone, Toucannon, Lopunny and Primarina for most of the game. I really enjoyed the game - one of my absolute favourites. I’ve also really enjoyed reading through this thread and seeing what veterans have to say. I’m still a total noob compared to you guys (I didn’t know moveset breeding was a thing), but it’s reignited my love of Pokemon.

I’m onto the post-game for Ultra Moon now with 101 Pokemon in the dex (nine year old me would be so proud). I’ve also ordered Y version and Alpha Sapphire and I’m strongly considering getting a Switch so I can play Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee. I tried to get my hands on Soul Silver too, but after seeing the price a new copy was going for now I noped the fuck out. Maybe I’ll get the VC Silver instead since I always wanted to play it.

Maybe I’ll get the VC Silver instead since I always wanted to play it.

Bear in mind if you go earlier than Gen IV then things start to get sort of simplified and clunky.

The moves are split into damage type by move type, and there's way fewer moves, and before gen III there's no abilities

. Also the original versions of gold and silver have fuck all for stones, so I'd recommend VC-ing Crystal- you can get a Celebi in-game to transfer over in VC Crystal.

Still worth playing of course.

You should try Black 2 again if you haven't already completed Black 1 because it's still a pretty awesome game.

I'll have to agree with @Sable that if you go with a VC Gen II game, that Crystal is the best choice overall. Besides the Celebi event, there are many quality-of-life changes over Gold and Silver that make for an overall better experience.

I read @Dunsparce ’s post about that earlier in the thread, so I am aware.

Tbh, I don’t really care which Johto game I get. I said Silver cos of Soul Silver, but I’m not really fussed.

That Odd Egg, of course, never got me a single Shiny.

Beat the post-game Rainbow Rocket mission on Ultra Moon last night. Managed to one-shot Giovanni’s Mewtwo Y with my Malamar (who did more or less the same thing to Ultra Necrozma), but his Dugtrio hit pretty hard. My team’s still undefeated, but Lysandre’s probably the closest I came to whiting out - his Mega Gyrados was a nightmare until my Primarina took care of it.

Now I just need to wait for Y to arrive. In the meantime I think I’ll catch the remaining Tapus. I caught Tapu Koko last night.

You are getting it because it is Pokemon.
