There's a volcano in Indonesia that spews blue fire, Kawah Ijen:

It'd make for an awesome Pokemon.
Given Sandygast and Palossand's shinies being based off of Hawaii's black sand beaches, as well as A-Dugtrio taking inspiration from Pele's Hair, I could see it happening... but I don't have my hopes up, both due to the insane degradation of the games' design philosophies and the fact that it's just such easy bait for regional variants. I'm expecting a Salazzle variant (due to the acidity + blue flames and similarly tropical region, it's just too easy) instead of anything original, but Slugma/Magcargo, Gulpin, or even fucking Muk if they want to be really unoriginal is possible too.
The volcanic area mentioned in the leaks also seems to be completely standard, with red lava and black terrain as opposed to the Ijen volcanoes' greyer terrain and blue lava, and I'm not sure if Gamefreak even want to touch an active sulfur mine with a twenty-foot pole. I'm pretty sure the only reason Galar had coal mines was because 1) it'd be tantamount to cultural sacrilege not to acknowledge it given Newcastle and Galar's general themes of industrial revolution and progress and 2) Britain's coal mining industry is so fucking dead that there's basically no controversy to be gained from adding it. Meanwhile, Ijen's still got active miners being paid less than American minimum wage to do super dangerous shit on the regular and-- since Indonesia is a third-world shithole-- most of those miners also end up with really shitty conditions that would probably not be ideal to depict in a game for barely-sentient babies.

Then again, given that gen 10 is globohomo central and the Ijen complex was declared a UNESCO-protected site a few years ago, it might happen... just not in any genuinely cool way, because this is modern GameFreak.

Pokémon Gen 11 in Congo, where you find the people who mine Electabuzz shit in caves.

Type shit you would see in a fan manga that gets cancelled after 3 issues.
Throwback to the pokemon manga where the defeated pokemon fucking DIE.

Oh an apparently, Ghetsis beats the shit out of N in the Black/White manga. (read right to left)

ETA: I'm trying to play pokemon clover but I'm getting a checksum error. I downloaded Pokemon fire red squirrels from the internet archive but it's not the correct one?
Reddit is failing me, as is google.

I won't contend that Pokemon Special/Adventures is darker than the games (not really a high bar,) but that scene is a bit of a fake-out exception to show off that the Arbok has super-regeneration powers and it doesn't die.

The fact they actually went and had it get cut in half and only come back a few chapters later and not immediately is still damn cool though. There are also other scenes of pokemon fucking dying, so it's not like your point is entirely false. At one point Giovanni freezes some Magmar solid and shatters the blocks:

Unlike that Arbok, they don't come back.
Oh yeah, also poke-zombies:

I haven't followed it closely, but the manga is a good read if you're hungry for a darker take on the Pokemon world.

It should be noted, I think those Magmar and maybe one or two other instances in Gen 1 are the only implied Pokemon deaths in the manga. I don't recall anything straight seeming to die in later parts, but the violence in it is relatively more brutal than anything you'd see in the Pokemon anime, rarely there's even blood. Including violence against human characters too. Hence the meme: "[Pokemon]! Use Kill Child!"

Here's a list of all the poketubers on the sex offenders register..

Enough time has passed. The shock has worn off. You've accepted that this is the line-up.
You've had a chance to think about them more clearly.

Who's your starter?
Grass is an angry bird. Fire is just a ball with a face. Blue looks fucking gay there but looks fine in 3D. Water one is going to turn into something fruity which sucks since it would make a good alien.

Do you guys ever complete the pokedex? I don't. I only care about battling and collecting badges. i want to be the very best, just not like no one ever was. To catch them? That's not my test. To train them, that's my cause.

Some might say growing up is realizing you don't always gotta catch 'em all...

I've completed it twice, Ultra Moon (400 mon regional dex) and Legends Arceus (for story). I'm also close to completing it on Black 2 (NatDex, Already completed the regional dex).

I completed the National Dex in Gen 5 with the exception of Shaymin, the one event-only Pokemon I missed and never seemed to get an event during that gen. I never really tried to when playing Gens 1-3, but then when I was playing HGSS I liked it enough I was trying to find more things to do in it and so started catching as much as I could. I realized looking at what I had in HGSS plus the fact I owned every game at that point meant completing the entire dex was pretty attainable, so I started catching things in Platinum and my Gen 3 games and used the link cable I had between my GBA and GameCube GBA Adapter to do trade evolutions. Eventually after I had a 3DS, I started doing trade evolutions between the Gen 4 games and getting all my GBA Pokemon onto the DS games, then transferred everything to my Black after I finished it. And finally did some more evolving and breeding and catching, and played White to get its exclusives and do Gen 5 trade evolutions, and finally ended up with a (nearly) complete National Dex in my Black and later Black 2 saves.

After Pokemon Bank came out, I used all the versions and a lot of GTS trading to eventually gather a full Living Dex together, consisting of at least one of every species (including Shaymin, I got one from a Gen 6 event), one of each gender if they have gender differences, and one of each form if it's a permanent or semi-permanent form difference. So by extention, I had a fully complete National Dex in my X and Alpha Sapphire saves. I continued that into collecting every form of every Gen 7 Pokemon and had a complete Dex in my Moon and Ultra Moon saves.

I haven't been buying any of the Switch Pokemon games, so my Living Dex has just been sitting on my Ultra Moon and Ultra Sun carts. I did emulate Legends Arceus and fully completed a regional Living Dex in that game though. I also caught every Shadow Pokemon in Colosseum and XD when I emulated them.
