it sounds like Pokémon in general has turned into 'one step forward, two steps back' in terms of how it compares to the games of old. Is there a game that fans are begging for most? Or a real world location we haven't been to yet? I imagine people want full 3D remakes of Gold and Silver?
Not the person you mentioned, but the most recent pokemon "remake" people wanted the most was a revisit to Kalos. We did get that in Legends ZA, now, I haven't played ZA yet, but it doesn't look great (most buildings aren't enterable in a CITY ONLY GAME). I'm actually someone who has always wanted a city only region, but it looks disapointing, I'm straight up preparing for it to be worse than SV when I get around to playing it.

I also remembered how people REALLY wanted a sinnoh remake, however the monkey's paw curled because all the good experiences with sinnoh was from Platinum, and they choose to remake the god awful Diamond and Pearl.

The trend with pokemon games people wanted is that even if an idea is good, GF will find away to ruin it. Back when sinnoh remakes were only rumored, people feared that it would be a let's go style game, they managed to make BDSP even worse than that.

About Wind and Waves, at least has some gameplay before it's release year but really low expectations still, and it could always go lower when it comes to pokemon. I've always wanted a more open tropicial region like hoenn but 3D, so it could be interesting if done right (more likely to win a masterball in a ingame lottery tho). Also speaking of tropical regions, alola could've been great if you could lapras surf physically between the islands, again just like hoenn.

From what we could see from the leaks, GF cares a lot about a place's history, but also it's biodiversity.

This is from the leaks:

"We can make a game based on this anime" "We can make a game based on marvel movies"

This is why pokemon sucks now. These people have no soul. They sold it to pop culture and can't do anything original.
No one is beholden to a console anymore and with that the fanbases of the games decline
Consoles are still popular. Elden ring, arguably one of the biggest modern releases has a much larger PS5 player base than any other platform. Consoles aren't dead, there's just no competition between them right now.
people became fans of smash bros because it was the only fighting game on the game cube.
People liked smash because it was fun you idiot. If you make a fun game people will like it, if it's a good multiplayer game you can pick up and play people will like it more. The gamecube had Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, Bloody roar, so it wasn't short on fighting games either. But they're nothing like smash which is a party game.

The remakes were fine. They played like every other classic pokemon game. The graphics were okay, the gameplay was the same as it's always been. If you weren't trying to glitch it out then it has only 2 legit complaints.

Pokemon cheating due to happiness stat. This is unacceptable and ruined the experience for me.
The elite 4 being competitive teams with perfect IV and EVs. Wasn't needed, made the end a slog and probably why the first issue exists.

Other wise it was fine. The best pokemon release we've had in a decade because it's just an older game with slightly different graphics. Although they added race mixing propaganda, which was stupid and should have got the game banned every where.

Hell the next gen is apprenetly just yet another "Evil capitalist exploiting wants more power" type shit.
They're gonna do another rethread of Lusamine and Chairman Rose, and also yet another subplot about Pokemon becoming enraged and going out of control like we've had in every single game since SwSh (source):

At least the evil team this time around seems to be properly evil instead of the goofy hoodlums we've had the past 3 generations.

I love Smash (all versions) and universally hate every other fighting game in existence.

I want to pester my friends from the other side of the map using Lucas's PK Thunder or PK Ice until they close the distance and I remind them Lucas has a really strong up C attack or laugh maniacally as I launch Jigglypuff from half way across the stage with little to no chance of success,

Even if there is some overlap, the appeal of Smash is that it's fundamentally unserious as a fighting game.

I CANNOT KEEP GOING ANYMORE.
The obvious mismash of different games in the music (Final Fantasy victory theme, DPP music) just makes me wan to stop. Even if I could play this game on mute, there i still the obvious use of the TCG game characters, which were already an irritation point.

Wi this, I decided to ju sto playing Pokémon Aesthetic Red and go to Pokémon PureRGB, which, coincidentally, had a new version out yesterday. Unfortunately, that seemed to have broken SGB support. At least I can play in the GBC emulator.
I also wanted to try working with MSU-1 support, though that part ended up a bust.
Otherwise, I have been enjoying my experience so far. While no to the level of Polished Crystal, PureRGB already feel really good, especially wi the amount of options available.

Surprised that fire red and leaf green rereleases have the event items handed to you by simply beating the game, I truly expected some limited online distribution BS to drive sales. Good for them, still not worth the 20 bucks.
What struck me as odd is how they fixed the Roar glitch but not the legendaries always rolling bad IVs, assuming they had a version with the former glitch fixed since forever ago.

On that note: has anyone noticed

that the gym setup is very similar to Paldea's progression?
1772475037811.png1772475015889.pngprogression.png

Check this out:
  • Grass gym leader as the first/second boss, early-game (Brassius was my first in SV, so I misremembered him as first in the code. I am so fucking sick of early-game Grass bosses. It's been the standard since Sun/Moon and none of them have any fucking variety because they're all so weak.)
  • Flying boss as the strongest early-game/weakest mid-game boss
  • Normal gym leader as the fifth/sixth boss, mid-to-late game
  • Fairy boss as the near-final challenge, right before the league
That's half the fucking gym lineup being very comparably similar to Paldea, with most exceptions being placement swaps (Steel going from early-game to late-game, Poison going from mid-game to early-game, Dark going from early to mid). Ice, Bug, Ghost, Water, Electric, and Psychic don't appear as gym leaders, but every type except Psychic does appear as a new Titan... so they're still very likely to be bosses.

I realize that there were going to be similarities to Paldea no matter what, given that Paldea uses the entire type chart for its bosses, but could it have killed Gamefreak not to reuse half the fucking roster placement?

The only types that aren't near-confirmed to be bosses of some type are the following:
1772475530764.png
And that's only because their current purpose (and order) is very unclear. We don't know if they're to do with legendary encounters (my pet theory because they're majin and the game's legendaries seem to be all about weather), bosses, evil team leaders that specialize in types, or anything like that. They could just be placeholders for all we know. But they're still there, so I'm still bringing them up.

I'll even go as far as saying that WiWa seems to be recycling Paldea's entire structure, sticking with the "three paths of every type" thing again and doubling down on the open world (the latter has already been confirmed via the official site and marketing). It seems like it's not only ripping off Alola, but borrowing heavily from Paldea... which we just fucking had. How anyone can get excited for this is beyond me.

I know I shared a somewhat similar tweet a couple days ago, but it seems like the general consensus is that Gen 6 is when the cracks started to form for people.

I view Gen 6 as a sort of transitional period as far as Pokemon designs go. It was the first generation where they used 3D graphic and it was the last generation where Sugimori was the art director. With later generations, you can tell they designed Pokemon around being in 3D more, perhaps even being made as 3D models first and then drawn for some of them. I've seen it pointed out that many Gen 9 Pokemon in particular have official art that looks like it was traced over their in-game models. And later generations started switching between different art directors, and you can get a feel for how their different idiosyncrasies has an impact on the overall art direction and how it's different from when Sugimori was in charge.

Can we have thunder storm and wildfire version too?
We already have one Fire-type form for Castform to go with Harsh Sunlight, so I can't see them adding another.
But an Electric-type "thunderstorm" form to go with Electric Terrain? Maybe. It's not a proper weather effect in game mechanic terms... but it's weather-ish.

Or, if Game Freak really leans into the volcanoes in Indonesia and the rest of the South Pacific for WiWa's environments, then maybe they could make some kind of "volcanic lightning" form for Castform. Or maybe just a different Fire / Electric Pokémon at that point, instead of trying to squeeze too much into Castform.

The people calling themselves [insert gen 1 pokemon] kings doing these big buyouts where they’re buying hundreds of copies of one specific card at a time are mentally retarded. It’s obvious what they’re trying to do and if you fall for it, you’re a mark just like everyone paying $30 for a first edition common card that was <$1 last year. He’s spent well over a grand on fucking trick or trade stamped cosmo foils, which are something that was so heavily printed.

Speaking of gym leader types, I've always wanted there to be an early game ice gym. Lack of resistances wouldn't matter as much in the early game since ice types on average are pretty strong offensively.

Fun fact, the reason ice is always a late gym type is because in Japanese mythology, the snow is often associated with death. So in Japanese video games, that's why ice levels are always later in the game.
