What kind of animal / mythological creature / thing do you really want to see a Pokémon based on?

For me, it's the Virginia opossum.

Dark / Fairy. Toothy, gormless smile. Bulging black eyes. Unique ability based around playing dead. Gimmie.
That bull-spider yōkai would make for a horrifying Pokémon if done right.

A recent trending topic regarding the games on Twitter is whether or not EXP Share trivializes the experience, or if it helps cut down grinding. Surprisingly, I see a lot of players say they prefer not using it.

What do you guys think?
i like turning it on and off in the 3DS games, I usually have it off so I don't get overleveled, but if I'm underleveled I like turning it back on in order to grind EXP easier

I updated some dewokings of Pokémon ROM hacks.

All they need to do is add an hard mode.

- EXP Share Disabled, can only be turned on once game is completed.
- All Gym Leaders / Elite Four / Champion teams are rebalanced to be competitively viable / have items / perfect stats
- Cannot level grind until you obtain badges
- No items can be used in- battle aside from held items

And to balance the difficulty i would also add a way to increase your pokèmon IVs/EVs easily so if you end up with terrible unlucky IVs you are not disadvantaged.

This will never happen though, these games will never have any difficulty settings because EFFORT. Just coonsoom coonsoom and pump out these shitty games yearly, so baby mode with you!

They can't even do difficulty modes right, when they tried in BW2 it was absolutely retarded. The modes were version exclusives (hard was exclusive to B2 and easy to W2), you could only unlock them by beating the game and receiving a key, and restarting the game deletes this key, so the only way to change the difficulty was to transfer it to another game and use it there.

Sounds retarded? Wait until you hear that changing the difficulty changes your opponents' levels, but it doesn't affect their stats.

Game Boy NSO is already on Switch 1, and it already has both local and online multiplayer.
Except the online feature is only good for people that are on your friend's list. You can't play 2P games online with any rando that you encounter (i.e. queuing in a waiting room until you get matched), so on a game like Pokemon, NSO would just gimp it like it was on the 3DS, and I highly, HIGHLY, highly doubt Nintendo is going to upgrade those "Nintendo Classic" servers JUST for Pokemon. For something like a pokemon classic collection, they would need a fucking gigantic server that is continuously maintained to make sure is steady and active with little to no hiccups, less we have another Bank situation where it fucking crashes on day 1 and a specific section of the planet only gains access to it while the rest of the world suffers because "PREASE UDERSTAND!"

So, uh... how much information does Niantic record?

There was that one guy who bragged about a gym where he put his Weedle iirc and stayed there since launch. He used to frequent sites like r/TheSilphRoad where he posted a redacted screenshot of his timer protecting that location.
I wonder if that location was this island all along?

And the only time they tried it they unironically stuffed it up.

This was before the grand enshittification after 2014 by the way.

It's a good idea, which means GameFreak will never implement it.

I just wanted to comment on the idea of restricting level grinding. I think it would feel kind of bad if the game had level caps where your Pokemon just can't gain EXP past a certain level for that point in the game, so any you get goes to waste. I think the best way to go about restricting player levels would be to not restrict the player's EXP gain or what level their Pokemon technically is, but instead, have all trainer battles work under level restriction rules similar to online or battle facilities, where any Pokemon on the player's team whose level exceeds that of the opposing Pokemon have their levels set down to equal the enemy trainer's weakest Pokemon during that battle.

The intermission report for the Olympic hockey game between team USA and Latvia is brought to us by...

Like their recent Super Bowl ad, this kind of sponsorship is not cheap. This is shaping up to be quite a high-profile ad blitz for Pokémon recently.
I sure hope that this means that they've got something big coming soon. And I hope that the game's development budget was bigger than this ad budget.

I've seen this before from other companies like Capcom where they blow all their load on ads and other nonsense only to deliver a piss-poor product that comes out like a wet fart. Sega seems to be doing the same thing with their 35th anniversary of Sonic by going all in on the merchandising horseshit without even announcing a new game.

I haven't gotten hyped for anything in quite a while, especially when it comes to Pokemon, and I'm sure as hell am not going to get baited into this anniversary crap considering S/V, ZA, and all the other games before them have been either mediocre, or the worst buggy unpleasant messy looking game ever created. That's not even getting into the bad business practices like Season Passes and the broken NationalDex.

they are going to loose a FUCK-TON of support and good-will
Assuming they have any good-will left.
To be fair, it is about time that they actually decided to port the mainline titles. I mean, they threw literally every spinoff they made on NSO before this (ev&doe it was for the best because the stadium games&the Orre Titles are gems incarnate). Unfortunately knowing Gamefreak being inept at coding basic shit, they will fuck this up. I mean, Pokemon HOME shits itself when you want to transfer a Spinda, what makes you think they're gonna handle transfer mons from the first 3 titles correctly?

tbf that was more of a fuck up on ILCA's part. Though you could admonish Game Freak for no one overseeing things to think it would be a problem, I guess. I don't remember all the technical specifics but basically, BDSP (developed by ILCA while GF was busy with PLA, with oversight by Masuda) is coded in Unity engine instead of Game Freak's own engine the make Pokemon games in. ILCA directly ported over a fuckton of Diamond/Pearl code into BDSP, but had to rewrite some things to work in Unity, and something they fucked up was the algorithm to determine where Spinda's spots are generated on the model. It works in a different way to where you can't easily make a "translation" between how BDSP generates the spots and how other games do it such that the same Spinda would look the same transfered between games, and this upsets Game Freak's autism so they just forbid Spinda being transferred in and out of BDSP so no one would see a spot pattern inconsistency.
