The unfunny meme from a few years ago was right; it is surprisingly easy.
I've seen enough about the process to know that it's pretty easy.
It's just that my old 3DS already has Pokémon Transfer & Pokémon Bank on it, and I don't want to overwrite them or jeopardize the legitimacy of my connection to Nintendo's servers somehow (by modding that 3DS) when I know that what I have on it works.

Ah, that's different. It's still a little autistic, but I understand that more. It's a bit hard to say if Nintendo will just decide to crack down on something at random anymore.

The simple shapes might also just be the easiest for rigging. Because sure, new pokemon are smooth and they're missing the finer details of older pokes, but that lack would make rigging easier, because there's less to weight paint, less bones to assign, etc.
I wanted to mention that as well but I didn't want to sperg about 3D modelling like I usually do if given the chance. They clearly don't model the Pokemon much beyond the basic shapes, which is understandable given the shoddy budget they're given, but it makes the mons look like cheap plastic toys. I saw a guy on 4chan call Baxcalibur a bath toy and I will never unsee it.

The 3DS' servers were shut down, you can't get banned for connecting to them if you can't connect at all. Ironically enough, you need to mod your 3DS to use the fanmade servers from the trannies at Pretendo.

I didn't want to mention the budget, but yeah. Modelling that many mons, and rigging them, especially with some of the new animations in ZA? Makes total sense.

All except for the Pokémon Bank servers. That's what I want to preserve my access to.
I'm not even going to put Bank on the modded 3DS. For anything that I want to send up to Home, I'll just trade it over to my old 3DS, and send it through my legit, properly-linked copy of Bank. I can't wait for those servers to finally go offline and make all of this pointless.

I know that I'm probably overthinking things and being paranoid about risks that don't actually exist. But I'm also sure that I don't want to find out the hard way.

I knew (vaguely) about the servers, and they seemed like a neat idea. How has the Pokémon / Nintendo community managed to fuck it up this time?

I didn't know Bank's servers were still up, that's actually neat.
But still, you can transfer and store Pokemon on a modded 3DS using PKSM, the only difference is that it only has 50 storage boxes instead of Bank's 100. I actually prefer PKSM because the last couple of times I tried to use Bank it failed to connect 2 to 3 times before finally letting me use it.

They haven't fucked it up. Yet. I'm just uneasy because these kinds of projects tend to devolve into drama and slapfighting. My biggest issue with them is that they're slow as hell and only work on the thing when they're motivated (so never), currently the only supported Pokemon games are Pokken and Rumble World, which is...a very unusual selection.
I mean, here's the team behind Pretendo:

Don't they look like stable folxs who can manage a project without it going up in flames?

I don't trust these people enough to connect my 3DS to their network. Depending on the game, I wouldn't be surprised if they can read some of the user generated content and go so far as to fuck around with your system.

If they believe they are fighting incoming Nazis, they would make that effort.

The worldbuilding of Pokemon is honestly shit, I don't know why pokespergs like Bird Keeper Toby and Lockstin make videos on it. I can see that the Pokemon and the regions itself takes inspiration from real life animals, history and mythology but that is as far as it goes. The backstories stories of region feels disconnected and episodic, making no effort in trying to connect all the major legendaries together unless they are within the same region.

I already saw something was off with Pretendo when i saw that they had the typical managerial "no racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia" type shit. It made me not want to use their service.

That's concerning, I got a shitload of Pokemon in the bank still, and I have to eventually transfer them somewhere. Too lazy to order a bunch of used copies as living backups or buying a jailbroken 3DS to install an offline bank, but I will have to at some point. Still remember leaving downloading a bunch of old games given away for free on the 360 before the shop servers went down for the last minute, and they didn't install since there were so many people using the servers at the last minute and they crapped out on me. Still don't have access to those games I technically own, shouldn't have deleted them but hard drives back then weren't as big as they are now and I had to save space.

I have been planning to do a full ribbon challenge with a shiny i caught on my legit Sapphire from my childhood, but i have been procrastinating it for years at this point and i think i just need to face the reality that I am not autistic enough to do this. Especially with the ever looming shutdown of Pokemon Bank possibly coming.

The ribbon challenge has been impossible for the longest time since it requires ribbons from the long-dead DS servers in Gen 4. Unless you count on using a third party server and somehow finding another person to play with AND getting a high streak in the Battle Tower. You can just ignore that one, but I think it goes against the spirit of the challenge.

Yeah Japs highly prefer episodic worldbuilding as opposed to worldbuilding that is more interconnected. Anyone trying to make sense of the logical inconsistencies between regions is just going to give themselves a pointless headache. If the devs did not care about the consistency of their lore, then why should their fans care?

But then that would mean that Shounen manga are outliers in their worldbbuilding.

There is also that extremely autistic worldbuilding only seen in the leaks. Someone in development cared, but either Gamefreak sucks at actually implementing worldbuilding in their games, or for some reason Nintendo/TCPi wanted them to hold off on it, probably so there would be more room for anime/manga to do what they want.

Because I'm autistically obsessed with these super-powered cartoon animals, and because there's a lot of potential that goes to waste. The lore surrounding Arceus, Johto's towers, Kyurem's origins, the Kalos war, the champions' roles in their region (are they sports celebrities? Political leaders? Both?).

I know these aren't meant to be serious attempts at worldbuilding (except Arceus) and they're there just to give the region some flavor, but they're still interesting concepts and seeing them be abandoned once their generation is over is a shame. But seeing how Game Freak's idea of storytelling is grinding the gameplay to a halt to dump exposition in poorly-acted cutscenes, maybe it's best that they don't focus on the story.

I still want to know what Kyurem's original form was, even if I know it'll be utter shit.

why do you want GameFreak to do something when you know they will do it poorly?
There's some merit to this reasoning, but it quickly ends up at "why would you want GameFreak to do anything when they'll do it bad?" which is a bit of a useless point of discussion. It's fine to be disappointed at GameFreak's wasted potential while acknowledging the fact they'd probably botch any attempt to fulfill it given their recent track record.
