For how much the budgets on Western AAA boggle the mind, the fact Pokemon literally makes Fuck You money on every release and Game Freak/Nintendo seems to just reduce the budget on the subsequent releases is baffling for a whole lot of different reasons.

Yeah, they've been coasting for over a decade at this point, but you'd think they'd at least try and reinvest into the things that made them a merchandising empire in the first place. Do the executives at Game Freak think they can still make games for what feels like the price of a GBA game's development (adjusted for inflation, obviously)

The clothing shops are menus now, so presumably the cafes are the same, sadly. And I don't think the restaurants where you can have Double/Triple/Rotation battles that were in XY are available in Z-A either.

I remembered using the restaurants to farm money with Amulet Coin/Happy Hour/Prize Money O-Power, since the O-Power lasts during the whole rounds of battles in them.

GameFreak are a bunch of incompetent morons, if that wasn't obvious. They got handed the keys to the kingdom and they weren't ready for it, few are in the end. It should be pointed out that this is, indeed, all Gamefreak. Nintendo and TPC don't call the shots as much as people think, Gamefreak can easily tell them to fuck off and override their decision if need be. This means that every single fuck up, every single retarded decision, every single bit of incompetence is on them. Nobody at the studio was bullied by big, bad Nintendo or TPC to release broken, half finished games that are 20 years behind the times technologically.

The leaks show that Nintendo tried to help them by outsourcing some of the work to Square Enix, to help Gamefreak with the load. In return, Gamefreak throw a meltie and had a rant in their internal docs about "keeping their independence". You can't have it both ways, you either make smaller games or you get some help making bigger and more ambitious ones, it's clear Gamefreak does not have the talent to be a top dog studio despite how much money their games make. Perfect example of their incompetence would be SV DLC, which supposedly cost just as much as development of PLA Arceus and sold only 1/4th as much as it was projected too. Absolute failure by any stretch, especially since that content was no doubt cut from the base game, not only are they participating in the cancerous DLC/GaaS space but they aren't even any good at it either.

You're right in that they're going to coast on mediocrity for years to come, sadly. Too many retards buying their games still, despite being the dregs of gaming everyone makes fun of, IP is never going to get old, and there is a ton more to the franchise than just the games(TCG, Anime ect.). Pokemon is here to stay, and the games don't need to be good, hell they don't even need to be functional.

Pokemon gender was introduced in gen 2, pokemon are either female, male or genderless, with genderless pokemons being:
- Legendaries because it would be retarded and game breaking multiply what's basically a mythical being like an animal.
- Unown because the way they function in gen 2 games is a mess
- Magnemite and voltorb because they are machines as souless as a goytendo exec.
- Ditto because he's the pokemon whore.

I also want to point out how breeding broke the lore of kangaskan and cubone, as well as the fact that game freak has been too fucking lazy to fix any of this, so most legendaries remains gender unknown and they never elaborated because they are fucking retarded and can't bother to simply say "legendaries refuses to breed so it doesn't matter what their gender is for a trainer."

Some pokemon can be male and female that shouldn't.

I also never understood why they make all male pokemon like Tauros, then make an all female pokemon like Miltank, but you can't breed them together to either get a Tauros or Miltank when they are thematically related, very unimaginative.
There's also the Nidorina/Nidoqueen mystery where they can't breed but female Nidoran still can.

This could be all be fixed by one person over an afternoon so at this point it seems like stubborn retardation.

I had that same question on my mind, and, to no one's surprise, it's localizers making shit up. Unfortunately I don't know where to find bodily fluids guy's Japanese lines, but I would love to know what he originally said.

It's one of those "legacy" things that they'll never fix because it started out this way, like how both Nidorans are still separate species despite gender differences being introduced in the next generation (which can at least be excused by saying it would fuck up the Pokedex), or them never correcting Feraligatr's and Victreebel's names.

They won't give the main legendaries genders, but they'll hint at it in the Pokedex. Lunala is meant to be the female evolution of Cosmoem while Solgaleo is the male (they can even create a Cosmog in SuMo's postgame), and Zamazenta and Zacian are theorized to be brother and sister respectively.

If it wasn't for little town hero, I would have began to think game freak doesn't wants to make pokemon games anymore, they are forced by contract so they make the worst shit immaginable in the hope of making customers stop buying pokemon games and get fired as result.

Instead, they got handed a shitty hand by being forced to make Battle Revolution with way too little time and it ended up flopping. They've been condemned to the mobile mines since then, much to Gamefreak's joy no doubt.
Let's not forget that GS never played Pokemon before, so Colosseum came from absolute outsiders. Even a literally who studio can do better than Gamefreak.

Y’know, a few years ago - literally whenever PLA released - if you were to tell me this was the newest Pokemon game, I’d legitimately think you were just fucking around in GMod.

The fact that Game Freak can’t make something that looks better than fucking ancient ass Gary’s Mod is just sad.

It's not sad, its pathetic and I feel no pity toward the people that dares to tell me they liked the game, either their fathers beat them too much when they were kids or weren't beaten hard enough.
