I'm excited, but I don't talk about it a lot because of all the negativity. Like, they're bringing in fossil reviving, and that'll be neat. I can't wait to see which fossils are in (I'm praying for Dracovish), and I'm fine with turning in items for them over hunting for the pokemon, via time bubble, like Legends Arceus.
when/where was that announced? I haven't been paying attention to the latest news due to work and playing other stuff.

Personally I loved legends arceu but am being cautious about this one after how badly SV ran.

Besides kalos games, I think the other super cursed region when it comes to games is sinnoh, platinum is fantastic and still holds up great to this day...while bdsp and dp are actively bad and are the 2 worst games in the franchise imo (tho I actually think bdsp isn't as bad as base dp).

Honestly the other sinnoh games being god awful probably makes the platinum experience slightly worse for some people, as plat being good could honestly be seen as a freak accident given their counterparts. I understand that dp added A LOT mechanically to the games, especially the physical-special split., but they have aged horribly.

Hell, pal park in dp only allow a SINGLE transfer from gen 3 per day...while both platinum and hgss allowed infinite transfers.

The thing is, what few things bdsp does better than platinum is only because it's a modern game in modern hardware, like faster engine, or pokemon home comparability allowing easy access to gens 1-4 pokemon. Funnily enough the reverse is true, what bdsp does do better than other switch pokemon games, like non-liner routes and a partial natdex (only gens 1-4 tho) is only because it copied a game with a good foundation. If og DP had random gens 1-3 missing from the code or a elite four and champion easier than xy's then so would bdsp. Even then i still think the rest of the switch games, yes even swsh and let's go, are still overall better games than it

Also it would be kinda funny if bdsp got the dp treatment and got a platinum remake that fixed literally every issue and created another golden age for pokemon, that would be the most diamond and pearl thing ever. The chances of this actually happening is less than 1% though.

Also speaking of mechanics changes, despite being called weird by some people, gen 5 is probably the most "average" pokemon gen. No major mechanics overhaul, no major special gimmick, and still had an in-game way of transferring pokemon from gen 4 like gen 4 had for the gen 3 games.

Because Gamefreak doesn't need to care about your sale. They didn't care that I and a bunch of people like myself didn't buy Sw/Sh because it still sold gangbusters. A lot of twitterfags always say retarded shit like "Um, you're going to buy it anyway???" and they pull out that decade and a half old photo of the Modern Warfare "boycott" as if it's proof you'll cave in, as if any of that is a real response to criticisms of shitty management from GameFreak.
Well, they're right. Guarantee you that most people in this thread will buy the game and then complain about it, then cope they won't buy the next one. This happened with SV, it happened with SwSh and it happened with previous games, too. Pokemon consumer base has to be the worst niggercattle in gaming, even worse than gacha whales. The actual fans, however, largely stopped playing the games, only leaving outsiders, tourists and normalfags who don't know better holding the bag(same ones who had a hard time distinguishing what a "fan" is in this thread, for example). Call of Duty is in the same situation where many former fans are playing something else and mostly just complaining about the franchise now. Better this way, both series are now made in mind for brainless subhumans, former fans who played these games when they were good deserve better.

I still remember when that awful Mega Dragonite was unveiled, some people here actually liked that design, others didn't have a problem with it because "it's only a baby game" or whatever cope they used. Well, if you have zero standards, then I guess you won't mind if the Pokemon transfered to ZA will be stuck there forever, it's only a baby game after all. Looking forward to more features getting removed, at this point might as well just laugh at the idiots still paying for this garbage. So glad I jumped off at Dexit station, I absolutely knew it would lead down to this eventually.

Pokemon Legends Z-A should've only kept the original mega evolutions, probably add them for the Kalos starters and legends, and then made new Kalosian regional variants of familiar mons because that's what previous games done and it would be so fucking cool to see them do it but NOOOOO, they have to make shit like "obese nigger Victreebel" and "Dragonite but with wings stapled onto it".

There are in-game files that suggest Zeraora, Heatran, and Darkrai are getting Megas.

Finished all Kanto Gym leaders and went back to the second E4 fights.

Somehow it was easier than before, instead of Lance Using two dragonites he went with a Salamance who got oneshoted by Meganium of all all these fellas.

After the second pass there is only red left, but I always hated this part of the game tbh

Went there and beat the fucker.

So if you want to play a vanilla+ with improved level curves of the Crystal and modern QoL, you can go with this romhack Heart & Soul.

I still didn't finish Orange Islands yet, but this was quite ok game to clarify that I don't give a shit about Johto region at all.
Chikorita was my starter back when I played Silver, and I chose it again when I got SoulSilver, so it makes me happy to see others who appreciate Meganium.

I've been playing Alpha Sapphire with a self-made hack to make all the battle Doubles or Triples, and it seems I forgot to set a Pokemon species for one random trainer so I found out what happens in a Gen 6 game if it does a Double Battle when the enemy trainer only has one Pokemon. The trainer puts out a placeholder level 999 shiny Bulbasaur named Pikachu that also has the Mega symbol next to its name. It's untargetable and doesn't seem to do anything, and if the other Pokemon is fainted then that counts for ending the battle.

Yeah, that's the missingno for gen6.

I started a challenge run for myself in LGPE. I'm RPing as KingCobraJFS, getting all shinies for the team, and naming them in-character. I'm aiming for only green or black shinies, too.
So far, I've got a shiny fearow (Turkeyleg), and Nidoran female (Angie). Nidoran was on purpose, Spearow was an accident (that evolved while hunting Nidoran).
I'm hoping for a Charizard, and I'll kill myself if I don't get an Arbok.

I just wait until the emulation comes out

I literally have no idea tha true and honest Pokémon fans are actually leaving the modern games. I am leaving them, too, but I have gotten the idea that fans work in a cycle that I already mentioned in this thread: whine because of the trailers and leaks, buy the game anyways, whine abou the game, orgasm over the latest Pokéclone, possibly not buy the Pokéclone, and get excited over the newest announcement of an official game.

Alright, I'm gonna judge them all. I'm gonna skip past the ones we don't have a full leak of yet, since as we see here the fan-made mock-ups tend to look significantly different. And I'm gonna assume all the leaked in-game images are real and not AI generated or some shit.

Mega Raichu X & Y
Both look really lazy. Like someone up high said to do Raichu forms for the DLC but the artists had no ideas, so someone just fucked with the ears and tail to make it look like the letters and called it a day. Really uninteresting.
Mega Victreebel
I kind of see what they're going for, but it just looks dumb. And not in a funny way, just dumb.
Mega Starmie
I get what they're going for with making it look like those starfish aliens from that old Japanese sci-fi movie, and it looks more dumb in a funny way, but they obviously could have come up with something cooler. Though supposedly there's some story reason it and a couple others are different kinds of Megas? I guess I'll see about that.
Mega Dragonite
I don't hate it, but it really looks like they wanted to do something like most fan renditions and have it be closer to Dragonair, but they also wanted to avoid actually looking like any of those fan-made designs so they forced themselves into something that looks half-assed.
Mega Meganium
I don't love it, but I don't think I would really be come up with a better idea for a super-charged Meganium so it's fine. Meganium is a pretty plain Pokemon with the big pink flower around its neck being its own defining trait, so it's hard to think of a Mega that wouldn't be making the flower more prominent in some way. I guess they could have changed the color scheme like Mega Charizard X.
Mega Feraligatr
I don't get what they're trying to do here. Like I get the big red flap is supposed to be like a skull helmet, but it's way too big and blobby, I don't get how they screwed this idea up.
Mega Emboar
Looks pretty good. What a shame that Emboar is the starter of this trio that I like the least, but the whole Chinese warrior aesthetic gave them some more obvious ideas to work with, I guess.
Mega Scrafty
Even though it's a simple design for a Mega, I like it. The color scheme looks cool, and despite the simplicity it looks better as a temp form than as a permanent evo, which is how a Mega should look since you don't want to think "it should have gotten an evo instead".
Mega Scolipede
Need to see the whole thing to really give an opinion, but I like that they changed up the color scheme. Looks like it's meant to go for some kind of knight or mechanical theme?
Mega Chandelure
This one seems... slightly off. It doesn't look bad, I agree the main direction to go with a Mega Chandelure is making it an even more ornate chandelier, but it feels like they should of changed the color scheme up more instead of just giving it a bajillion more arms.
Mega Chestnaught
Looks good. Nothing more to say, they did Chestnaught good.
Mega Delphox
Almost good, but the attempt at an X-shaped fur beard looks stupid. This is definitely something that looks better in fan art than it does on the official model.
Mega Greninja
I like the color scheme better than Ash-Greninja (and the "hair" on it always looked retarded), but its default pose being hanging upside-down off its shuriken seems kind of... tryhard? Like they were worried that just changing up its colors wasn't enough of a change, so they had it do some gimmicky thing all the time to look more different. I don't mind the idea it does it sometimes, but making it the default pose makes it look kind of dumb.
Mega Malamar
I never liked base Malamar and wouldn't be able to think of a direction to take a Mega form, so having it turn into Megamind looks fine to me.
Mega Dragalge
Looks good? They may have went a little overboard with the "hair", but I kind of like the weird fake screaming dudes on its head.
Mega Hawlucha
Another good one. Making its mask and "outfit" part of its feathers really flashy seems like the best direction to take its Mega, and gold and black is a classic color combo.
Mega Zygarde
Hm, yeah. I think I'll need to see how they're using it in the plot.
Mega Drampa
I need to see it clearly from the side to get a full picture of it, but from what I can see of it I like the way it looks. Really playing into the angry Chinese dragon look.

Mega Meganium is the only good one, because it barely does anything and still fits the concept. A lot of the others are random, nonsensical, or contradict the evolutionary design, like Dragonite (who still looks okay, but the wings suck).

Replaying ORAS as apart of my wider 3DS pokemon games replay and noticed a few things.

One of the most interesting things about ORAS is that non-hoenn dex pokemon becomes available after you catch/defeat groudon/kyogre both through dexnav and souring/mirage islands. This might be too late to be helpful in a playthrough but you're able to catch all the pokemon not avalible in X and Y, and thus you're able to complete the entire national dex between the four gen 6 games. This is the last time that you're able to catch every non-mythical pokemon within a single gen, and probably won't comeback due to dexit seemily being permanent. Also if pokemon Z did get released like it should of, they probably would've had certain pokemon exclusive to XY or ORAS just like in emerald or platinum, so this fact doesn't mean pokemon Z was already cancelled by then.

Another super interesting thing is that victory road had many of it's trainers use non-hoenn dex pokemon, and all of those mons are pokemon findable with dexnav or mirage islands.

This is honestly pretty cool and I think it's the only time a pokemon game does this. This straight up look like something you'd see in a romhack but in a offical game.

Say what you want about ORAS and the rest of the 3DS games, but I personally refuse to believe they were lazily made. (Maybe with the exception of the ultra games, but they're more super underwhelming imo than truly bad). Despite the poor transition to 3D I still think that pokemon could've turned things around before SwSh.

I don't appreciate Meganium at all, it fucking sucks dick and is terrible. But I always pick Totodile or Cyndaquil, since this game was basically a vanilla plus, the only thing that salvaged Meganium was that they made fairy type an option to the game and it learned a fairy move. Without that, it would still be the worthless starter that it is.

Now I went back and finished the Pokemon Orange Island game. This game is quite wellmade, it seems like a lost gen 3 gaiden game that would existed in a better world. Simple and direct like the official gen 3 games.

But damn, I love how each one of the fourth gym battles have a modicum of soul with the scenery. 1000046112.png

Also it is cool for once that we see pokedex lore being actually depicted in story.
1000046114.png

I wish more games would use the tournment bracket system instead of the elite 4 (not that this game used per se), but before the final fight we fight against Gary and my Lapras absolutely mogged 4 of his 6 team

Then in the final battle against Drake in the arena, man it looks weird but is cool anyway.
1000046116.png

Then the fight begins and his team is quite strong, my strongest pokemon was a lvl 49 pikachu but overall it was lvl 43-47 meanwhile his weakest was at lvl 50, it was quite a hard fight because of his speedy mons and his sleep/confuse tactics.

I only had Lapras and a paralyzed pikachu in the end against his Dragonite and an unknown at the time Gengar. I remember when I started playing pokemon for the first time ever and discovering that a pokemon could only use 4 moves then I watched this episode and holy shit, this dragonite used like 8 different moves in the battle. But unlike the anime, I did oneshot him with ice beam.
1000046118.png

Gengar was quite annoying to beat but it would choose shade instead of shadow ball so I could chip his life as I used full restores to wake me up.

And then I beat Drake.
1000046120.png

This was my team, a pink nidoking because of course it would be, a different color victrebell, my starting Pikachu who I couldn't evolve because I didn't found the stone. The based Kingler, the amazing Lapras and a Magmar that I barely used.

1000046122.png

This was my team at the end, the level curve isn't so high because it uses the old exp share system and also there is just 4 gyms, but there is lots of other trainers in the game.
1000046124.png

It is a complete game and all, but I will never forget the original spanish Naranja hack that I played when I first started playing romhacks. That game made me awe that it was even possible to do all that stuff. I wish that the guy who finishes romhacks would finish that game.

Now for a next game, anyone heard of Tourmaline? Is it good?

What do people think about Unbound? I'm trying it out now, seems interesting...
Mechanically and the map/features/everything that isn't the main story is just the absolute best pokemon game ever made.

The main story is really bad. If you mash A anyways, play it, you will never be satisfied with official GBA games ever again. It is really fucking good and fun to explore and do the mini missions and mini games. The mining minigame is fucking awesome and fun to do it.

Screenshot_20250605_054708_John GBA Lite.png

It is the closest I ever got to finish the Pokedex but I am still missing like 40 pokemon because of some mission I didn't complete to open them.

1760244763646.png

Turns out those anti-centro screenshots are also anti-reddit too....whatever they may be lol.

I think I brought this up recently, but it will never not be both funny and sad that switch pokemon destroyed the entire switch 1's reputation. Like it straight up caused people to view it as a "weak console" when in reality it's pretty strong by Nintendo standards and most Nintendo franchise got great games made on there. Pokemon games sucking was a strong exception rather than the rule.

Also it will be hilarious if legends ZA is so bad that it damages the switch 2's already rocky reputation.

Also speaking of legends ZA, the fact it has a $40 dlc announced before the game even comes out is wild. Especially since it'll probably be yet another 2 hour story with very little side content. Something fucking even SWORD AND SHIELD had on release.
