According to this video the Raichu expansion is day 1 DLC. Already on the disc and locked behind a pay wall.
The Kalos starter megas are unlocks from ranked play i.e. online which nitendo charge for.

To get access to all of this game at release will cost $110s. Nice.

I'm realizing now that I missed this in my giant overview post, but this is entirely correct:

Legends Z-A is launching with $30 day 1 DLC, after already costing $60-70 dollars, partially for a console nobody's buying that costs $450 minimum. :story: :story: :story:

Honestly I'm not even mad, I'm kind of surprised they didn't do this sooner it's so abysmally scummy

All this means for me is that I get to play the DLC at the same time as the release, when it inevitably leaks, so I'm cool with it for purely selfish reasons :story::story::story:

In actuality this is, of course, genuinely evil business and I hope it blows up in GF's faces

But we all know that won't happen, so hey fuck it why not celebrate the only positive from this

GIANT FUCKING EDIT: I'm blind

However, there is every possibility that this really is on-disc DLC, so maybe my comment about the DLC leaking with the game might still hold true kek

I think they only showed a logo and a no-gameplay trailer for the DLC because very little work has been done on it. I doubt much of the content has been created yet, just planned out.

Like what even is it we're buying? I imagine a story where you can travel through portals to encounter new megas? If they had something that'd make people want to buy it they'd show it no?

The best comparison I can think of is Fallout: New Vegas' first DLC, Dead Money. In the released version of NV there was a early version of the villa the DLC takes place in. Dead Money was released two months after the game did. Mega Dimension is releasing four months after release so take that however you want.

I think the implication is Raichu's megas are in the game day 1 but they're locked behind purchasing the DLC.

Nope, the information was already leaked out but the mouse isn't coming until next year along with the other Hyper Luminose City stuff.

From what it said basically the DLC part 1 is going to be adding a lot of side quests and Megas of legendaries, probably more quality of life stuff

Apparently Pokémon Center dropped preorders for Phantasmal Flames yesterday and it actually managed to be available for period of about 2 hours, I guess they did cancel those orders from that one botting group.

Oh, and TPCi delayed pass purchases for their PokémonXP event that’s running alongside Worlds 2026 to an unknown date. I’m fine with it since it’ll give them more time to make the checkout process as clean as possible, give potential attendees time to accrue more cash, and make the pain of ordering a $150 non-refundable pass less severe.
I actually couldn't find Pokemon cards in Walmart - an employee told me he thinks they stopped carrying them recently.
It tends to vary from location to location (stores that stop stocking them tend to have major problems with scalpers) and Walmart sells a lot of its TCG stuff online.
Is the Pokemon TCG having its day in the sun/is now being played by people (as opposed to kids collecting them 'cause cool Pokemon pictures)? Or is it just scalpers looking to make a quick buck?
It’s basically the latter, the same investorfags and cryptofags that decimated the sneaker market pulled to much and shoe companies decided to go scorched earth on ‘em by pumping out enough shoes to meet demand.

I actually tried to preorder last night & it already sold out. (Nephew asked for more. He's currently deep in the Pokemon TCG collecting hobby - I blame card pack opening TikToks).

I live in Oklahoma - I imagine there was one too many violent methhead fights over Pokemon cards to justify Walmart continuing stocking them.

Welp, I managed to beat the scalpers and order two of those Sam's Club-exclusive Pokemon Lucario Ex & Tyranitar Ex Premium Collection boxes. I'll pray for good pulls and open 'em when they get here.

Yeah, with Pokémon Center drops you really have to pay attention to those stock watcher accounts on Twitter if you want a chance at getting anything.

On the plus side Japanese product can be found for somewhat-cheap prices and this year's Trick- or Trade BOOster Bundles should be arriving on PC at the end of the month and in other stores come mid-October.

Unfortunately he's picked a really bad time to collect cards right now, even with sealed products being sold out everywhere some scalper groups have learned the "wonderful" art of price manipulation and are trying to inflate the prices of certain modern cards.
I blame card pack opening TikToks
Card opening TikToks are only a small drop in the bucket if we're being honest here, the real culprits (as far as streamers go) are rip-shippers on sites like Whatnot.

A lot of kids don't get into pokemon as a game. They're balls deep in youtube and tiktok investors using pokemon cards. They want to open a box not for the cards to play with but to open something worth a lot of money.

Just started playing through Diamond. Holy fuck did they fix the Sinnoh dex in Platinum, it's so bad here. Half the encounters in the entire game are Geodude.

There's one fire type line (excluding starter), three electric, one dragon (excluding legendaries), but fifteen or sixteen water type lines. wtf?

Music's just as good as I remember it being tho.

Wait, how bad was Diamond? 'cause I remember playing Platinum as a kid, and being annoyed there was barely any fire type Pokemon in Sinnoh. I probably wasn't the best player/don't think I used any guides, but for a normie who wasn't trading Pokemon over from older games, the best fire type you could find in grass was a freaking Pontya 😭

Lord help me, if there's some sorta Pokemon card collecting to cryptobro pipeline.

*On a serious note, my sister is just glad my nephew is not into horses (note: we live in a rural area with lots of horses/I own horses). Horseback riding for kids is a moneysink since they frequently outgrow their riding gear/tack/etc. Booster boxes are always going to be cheaper than new saddles (a good youth saddle runs well over a 1,000, easily).

Fire types in DP were starter and Ponyta. That's it.

I can't for the life of me understand why they had a Fire Type elite 4 member in Sinnoh.
- Rapidash
- Infernape
- Steelix
- Lopunny
- Drifblim

I've been playing some random battles on showdown lately, and I really miss pursuit

In DP it was literally just Infernape and Rapidash. If you didn't start with Chimchar then Rapidash was your only Fire option. Platinum added Flareon, Houndoom, and Magmortar. Your best Fire option in Platinum if you didn't start with Chimchar is probably Houndoom. It's low-key really good in in-game playthroughs, but there's barely any games you can catch it in during the main story. You can catch a Houndour in Platinum just before the 4th Gym.

Diamond kinda almost killed my love for pokemon. I didn't like the starters, it was slow as balls, no fire types (wtf), the lake trio catch rate pissed me off, the fuckin honey bullshit, and I couldn't find a croagunk in the swamp. I just wanted a croagunk and a drifloon, and while drifloon was easy enough to get, fuckin croagunk always evaded me.

And it was so slow...
And team galactic was another team rocket, and I was bored of that.
And I couldn't find an Eevee, for the cute new eeveelutions!

and it's so petty and autistic, but there's so much that just made me hate it

The underground shit was fun, tho. I spent hours digging up bullshit.

Yeah, I remember finding it to be super slow. Also, I remember a lot of the game plot felt locked behind special events? Like, without an Action Replay to hack in special items, so much of the plot/new features were just missing.

Want to see Darkrai? (who was heavily featured in the Pokemon anime movies at the time?) Nope, not a thing without hacking. Want to see the special event with Champion Cynthia & catch the Pokemon God Arceus (which I think was a dumb addition to the lore, but that's a whole 'nother story)? More hacking. Want Shaymin? Also hacking (or glitching through specific walls of the Elite 4 stairs if you saw the tip online).

And I couldn't find an Eevee, for the cute new eeveelutions!

I don't think an Eevee was even available in the game? I think the only way to get one was via hacking, or trading it over from Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen.

Technically it was, someone in Hearthome City gives you an Eevee... in the post-game. Platinum just had her give you the Eevee first time you're there, making all the Eeveelutions available during the story.

DP just generally made this utterly baffling decision exclude most of the Pokemon who got new evolutions from the regional dex, with them only being available in post-game, or by inserting a particular GBA cart, or trading up from Gen III (Tangela - which meant as first all Tangrowth were evolved from GBA-native Tangela or bred from them). Which means almost half the new Gen IV weren't even available during the main story of DP. The biggest thing Platinum did for adding more available Pokemon was simply making all those lines available during the main story so all the Gen IV were actually part of the regional dex.

And it was so slow...
I kind of like it, it works for the oldie and relaxed feel the Sinnoh games are going for imo. I think it also feels much slower because all the tiles are smaller on the screen too, so to traverse an environment you're traveling more distance. Even the grass patches are noticeably bigger.

Probably wouldn't have hurt to speed up the animations in battles though. Especially the HP and XP bars lol.
