This franchise makes how much money, and they still can’t make it look halfway decent?
Hiring a whole synagogue worth of lawyers to shut down competition is less work for them. They don't even gotta do anything but point at the problem and write checks.

It’s crazy how hard Palworld mentally broke these people. Next up is patenting “games with fictional creatures.”
That's what I'm thinking, Palworld scared the shit out of them by finally making a game that sold well while their games are going to shit (despite still selling a lot).
People have been making creature collecting games like Temtem for years but they never gave a fuck. Now suddenly it's a big deal. What faggotry.

you can summon characters to do one-time attacks against other characters in the later games.
In Infinite Wealth, some summons will stay on the field, move, and target enemies for attacks without the user's input. I am noting this because the way this is phrased, it violates the jargon outlined in the patent.

I just realized that Angry Birds of all things also infringes on this patent because you can use a can of sardines to summon an eagle that nukes the field lmao

Death Stranding 2 also now lets you capture BTs (antimatter creatures from the death dimension) and then summon them to fight for you.

Isn't patenting something you initially did 28 years ago not allowed? Setting aside the merits of the patent itself, how can anyone justify granting a patent in this instance? Patents have a lifespan of 20 years in the US IIRC

I’ll add one: the taming skill in Ultima Online.
What I don’t get is, why not just make a better game? Z-A looks like a ps1 game. With 2D balconies slapped on the sides of buildings. This franchise makes how much money, and they still can’t make it look halfway decent? Palworld has a nice style at least. It isn't bad on the eyes.

nintendo doesn't know what the fuck to do with pokemon. I don't either. The second and third generations of games were novel and introduced new mechanics that added a lot of depth to the game and the world they built. Pokemon sapphire and pokemon silver were competent and basic heroes journey type of stories. You start the game as a little kid and end the game the champion of multiple regions.

But, like, in the twenty fucking years it's been since those games, they have the same formula to a lower standard. I bought pokemon Y ages ago and none of the things i said apply to it, it's a much simpler game than the old ones with less mechanics and the story doesn't have any sort of risks involved. chances are you probably won't even faint your pokemon because the games do not want to throw any challenge at you and constantly give you really powerful novelty pokemon. Oh, it's shaped like a sword? that's kind of cool and all but how is it different from a Steelix? it isn't?

these are easy games for children so my bar is not high, but like... Kirby's Dream Land is a kid's game. It's still fun. Pokemon turned into a game that i wouldn't have found fun as a kid. They're totally just riding on nostaliga at this point. They're not going to run out for a while but it's going to crash and burn like comic books did.

Mario odyssey involves captures of creatures. You can summon characters to assist in Smash Bros. Will other Nintendo games not associated with TPC be subject to copy right?
What about Yu-Gi-Oh Capsule Monsters? I'm pretty sure they just rereleased that game and you specifically have monsters caught in balls in that one.

Fuck it, patent the idea of fictional animals with elemental magic.
They already did something close to that when they patented Terastallization, which effectively amounts to patenting the idea of a character switching elemental properties mid-battle.
nintendo owns switching elemental properties.webp

Didn't final fantasy have summons like a decade before pokemon?

Breaking: Microsoft files patent for the concept of an operating system
