Well, if GF now thinks that giving a Pokemon a Mega is the same as haphazardly slapping extra parts on it, then let's try doing the same. Take a look at my Dragonite-styled Megas:
Mega Crobat.webp
Incidentally, you're not far off from how Crobat looks like when it's fused with itself in Infinite Fusion

And now that i think about it, GameFreak might have ripped them off with Dragonite's "mega"

Mega Dragonite is around the same level as Mega Blastoise or Venusaur
lolno

Megas when they were introduced in X/Y were badass looking and made sense. Having Kangaskan's baby come out to fight was a good mega idea because plenty of people wanted that from Kangaskan in the first place (even though it was a bit O.P. in battle). Making Charizard a badass dragon type was a good mega idea because everyone wanted that. it wasn't until ORAS came along is where the megas started to get iffy.

Nobody.... not a single solitary soul, wanted Dumbo Part 2 Electric Boogaloo (i.e. Mega Dragonite current form). If there was ANY dragon that anyone wanted a Mega from, it was Flygon, and once again it's getting robbed of that spot (I think... unless leaks/official proof says otherwise)

Didn't he also get vaporized at the end of the XYZ anime too?
Lysandre got fucked in every major continuity. In the games he blew himself up with the Ultimate Weapon and either died or got trapped in the rubble while immortal. In the anime he got fucking vaporized by Zygarde Complete Forme. And in the manga he fell a couple dozen feet onto some sharp rocks and severed his spine, leaving him permanently paralyzed from the neck down.

People think about megas that way today, but back in generation 6 they were incredibly divisive and it started the moment they showed off Mewtwo Y, but it got worse when people found out that the megas ended up taking up most of the slots that would have been given to brand new Pokemon and they were relegated entirely to the post game mostly.

Mega Garchomp is a great example of how overdesigned these things could get or in some cases they barely change at all IMHO.

I'm not trying to say that Mega Dragonite is a s-tier design, the more so arguing that the entire design philosophy behind the concept has never been cohesive or properly thought out.

For as much like as g-max gets from the fan base at least the idea is to maximize something about the Pokemon even if things get incredibly silly looking so they all kind of fit the idea.

I think the big issue here is that Nintendo and game freak are essentially keeping everything to themselves because even with the worst Pokemon games they can drum up.

Also, this confirms all of the Ballguy leaks to be true and as somebody that was in that server and has been tracking the leaks for this game for the past almost 8 months it feels like I can finally breathe and talk about them.

DEM Leaks

This game is following the scarlet and violet approach and there's going to be like three different stories, a true ending, and postgame episodes.

There's the detective art where the MZ squad, emma, zygarde, and Lysander to discover what's going on with team Quasar.

There is a mafia saga which we saw a bit of today and the dudes were hired by team quasar to basically deal with anybody that's getting in the way of their plan.

There's of course the Za Royale which has side quest tied to its other inhabitants.

Then there's the true story which focuses on Ange which the best I can describe is essentially like Hal from space Odyssey or an AI ultimate weapon .

I'm not going to go into deeper story stuff beyond that but you get the gist.
>SV wearing the skin of XY and Arceus
lmfao, this shit is so dead on arrival, literally just a crappy launch game except it's late by a few months
Imagine the performance on Switch 1, I got to see this.

I would say that it is a lot more refined than whatever scarlet and violet was trying to go for.

The problem with scarlet and violet was that not only did it have horrible performance which made the game even uglier than it already was but it removed most of the good things from Legends Arceus.

On top of that the big climax at least for me for SV and the DLC felt completely disconnected to the original plot IMHO.

Based on what's alleged here, a lot of things feel a lot more organic and the ending is far more cinematic because it's basically evangelion

Yeah, I remember that, they were even criticized for being ripoffs of Digimon (I said the same thing back then), but by the time ORAS came out they were positively received aside from Mega Rayquaza. And through the power of hindsight we can see that GF would never keep adding 100+ unique Pokemon per generation. If it isn't Megas it's regionals, or Gigantamax, or convergent evolutions, or whatever other excuse they fancy to rehash old Pokemon and sell that as brand new.
People complained about Mega Rayquaza being OP but I don't remember people disliking it. I also personally don't mind if they add less Pokemon to the pokedex in a new region, I'm more interested in what they do with them. Less gimmicks, more game. Megas, Z-moves, etc. don't appreciably improve the experience of battling, and I'd rather GF focus either on stuff that actually would improve the underlying mechanics or just add more stuff for you to do outside of battles and catching. But they won't because that takes effort.
New evo? Oh, must be a split-evo then...! Nope.

I'm still also mad several Megas could easily be proper, actual evolutions in stats and designs to give the ones who could/especially needed an evo to stand out for good but nooooo.....
Yeah this is the other big thing megas did. Megas could have been an early form of regional variant instead of the Kanto-wank we got, they could have been new evolutions or a split evo, but no, they're a gimmick that the player won't interact with 90% of the time and doesn't even count to the point of collection.
I’d say fossil fighters
Man that's a throwback. Fossil Fighters actually could have filled in Digimon's niche as Pokemon's biggest competitor if they hadn't gone and murdered the series in the third game. The first two still hold up pretty well for what they were, imo. Should mention they had triple and rotation battles as a mechanic before Pokemon too.
it wasn't until ORAS came along is where the megas started to get iffy.
Megas were divisive the moment they were revealed, and I think it's telling that ORAS scaled back from having multiple megas for a single mon - nevermind that it was just thinly veiled Kanto wank.

I do think that needs reiterating too; not a single Kalos mon has a mega evo in XY, but Kanto has twelve, more than any other gen. Even putting it to ten by adjusting for Charizard and Mewtwo getting two megas each, that's still two more than Hoenn. For whatever faults it had, Kalos didn't deserve being undermined by having Gamefreak use it as a vehicle to pander to a demographic that hadn't touched a Pokemon game since the turn of the millennium. Kalos was not allowed to be its own region in Gen 6 and it looks like it won't be in Gen 9 either.

I was deep in the trenches when it came to the generation 6 leaks, and it felt like back then everything was just building into a massive quasar of hype but it kind of dissolved once we saw what the final game looked like.

It is forever a shame that the X and Y starters didn't get megas, but a FOMO mythical for some reason was given one instead.

I think one of the biggest problems with Pokemon X and Y was that the newer Pokemon never really had a chance to shine all that much because most of the attention was given to older Pokemon.

Zard X popped up way more than half of the starters

Reminder that the faggot that was behind Teraleaks allegedly has early builds of ZA and even Gen 10. We might get some fresh leaks after the game comes out.

I really hope the leaks are true and the kalos starters get megas since they got done dirty, if I recall well the anime staff wanted megas for all of them but TPC said no and thus only greninja got a pseudo mega tied to Ash/Satoshi.
Did the teraleak (or the one before that) had anything on megas for the kalos starters being planned at some point?

I'll never understand why the game that introduces Megas (and just gives you a free one in the form of Lucario) didn't give it to the games starters at the outset. The gimmick that defined the game's story and your starters have nothing to do with it. I have more memories of sun boosted Mega-Charizard roasting everything in sight for most of the game than I do occasionally plopping out my starter to fight a water type.

Fuck, I have more memory running a Toxic Klefki than I do my starter.

I don't what kid me was on, but man, I was smart to not even touch a Mega until post game; used a full new/Kalos Pokémon team my first playthrough.

I hate to ask, but when did Pokemon start having a million nigger NPCs? Was it Sun and Moon? I watched the trailer from yesterday and noticed that Kalos is starting to look a little too much like modern day France if you catch my drift.

>X but it has longer wings
>X but it looks scarier
>X but it has LOOOOOONG legs
>X but it has a different color now
>X but with more stuff on it
>X but it looks retarded now
>Let's bring back Battle Bond Greninja but pretend he's a Mega now

Froslass and the other two XY starters are alright, everything else is shit
Are there people genuinely excited for this?

We finally get Zygarde lore outside of comics and anime, and this is what it's wasted on? So the game will just be memberberries for XY zoomies and a retreat of that same plotline.
When did Pokemon become soulless nostalgic memberberries slop? I stopped giving a shit a little while before Sun and Moon so I'm not sure if that's when it started or what.

Black and White were all heart and soul, Gamefreak really tried and went all out with these games. Fans didn't like them because they couldn't catch a Pikachu, so with XY onwards it became memberberries slop and KANTO fetishism. With Sword and Shield they removed the only gimmick that made the games playable, being removing all Pokemon being in the game files(you could always trade Pokemon not found in the wild from earlier carts). They removed random moves too, and removed Megas and Z Moves for Gigantomax, a feature nobody liked and at the end of the day was watered down Mega Evolution anyways. XY was when putting niggers everywhere started, but it amplified only later with Sword and Shield and more recently with Arceus(game that takes place in feudal Japan) and Scarlet/Violet which infamously added in "realistic" non-anime NPCs that includes troons. ZA and probably Gen 10 is looking to continue this trend.

After Black and White came out and everyone hated it for having an entirely new roster of Pokemon. Never mind the excellent sprite work, never mind the cool mons, never mind the better story.

I was a month to a month and half late on knowing about the (meta containing) Marnie rival deck and I cannot find it in a brick and mortar setting in English fucking anywhere. Its so over bros.
I’m sure you can buy everything via singles for cheaper, unless you want that full art morpeko that isn’t really good if you’re trying to play competitively.

Any time there’s a new generation they have to do it because people will cry about how the original 151 are being neglected. They want to keep these people happy under the idea that there’s a Pokemon for everyone, but those people also don’t play the games or buy the cards unless it’s to scalp them or try to get a dopamine high off sets like 151.

Let's be real, that was already starting with XY. It's gotten worse with the Switch games because the character designs have gotten uglier on average.
First four gens almost everyone was light-skinned because they were either Japanese or a white foreigner with an English name (in the Japanese version). The only dark-skinned characters I can think of were Phoebe, who's meant to be Okinawan or Polynesian, and Dahlia, who's explicitly Latina given she speaks random Spanish words in both the English and Japanese versions.

Black/White was the first to have multiple black people around, but even then there's not that many of them considering New York's real life racial population. Among the major characters it was just Lenora, Marshal, and Iris, and according to the leaked documents Iris is meant to be a sand-nigger and not a nigger-nigger. Oh right, just remembered Marlon, but from the light skin you can around his waist and way he talks in the Japanese version, he's meant to be a really tanned Japanese swimmer. And out of all the random NPCs I think the only ones that were black were the basketball players, football players, and breakdancers.

I don't think XY had any major dark-skinned characters except Grant and Shauna, but the random NPCs were like 1/3 black in that game. Look through the trainer classes and you'll see that a ton of them that covered both genders (ex. rising stars, schoolboys/schoolgirls, roller skaters, rangers, veterans) would have one gender be black and the other white.

Sun/Moon had a fairly high amount of dark-skinned characters, but that game had some decent reason for it since Alola was Hawaii and most of them were implied to be the Pokemon equivalent to native Hawaiians. They did do the thing XY did for the Veteran class but switch the races, so it was a white guy and black woman, while XY's Veterans were a black guy and white woman.

Sword/Shield is when both the major characters and random NPCs start to just have a lot of random darkies that's hard to tell what race they're even supposed to be, if anything. And a lot of random NPCs in SWSH just look weird ugly in general. And then SV not only has a bunch of ugly major characters, but tons of random NPCs look like AI-generated mystery meat and trannies.

Since someone mentioned Legends Arceus, that game wasn't like that, pretty much everyone was a light-skinned Jap, as is fitting for the setting. There was one black guy with Iscan, but given his squinty eyes and other things, I think he's meant to be a really tanned Japanese guy from beach similar to Marlon, but they went overboard in making him really dark to the point he looks like a nigger. Probably a more questionaly thing actually is that Professor Laventon has rather tanned skin even through he's meant to be a 19th centual British guy.

There is random black NPCs in Arceus. Not Brocks which are just tanned asians, but full on blacks. This one is more insidious since the game is supposed to take place in feudal Japan but despite being DEI coded/propaganda it's not as over the top like Assassin's Creed Shadows where nobody takes Yasuke seriously, so it's more likely someone will fall for it.
I'm curious how Switch game modding works. If I ever get into it, I am planning on making a mod that removes blacks from Sword/Shield and Arceus completely. It should be a simple case of editing textures, altho from what I can gather there is different models for cutscenes and for overworld encounters, battle encounters ect. so there is going to be a lot of duplicates. SV is a lost cause so that game can go to hell, only an exorcism can save it.

I really didn't remember any being there. Looking through Youtube videos I still don't see any in the main village, but it looks like there's some random dark-skinned villagers among the ones in the Diamond and Pearl Clan villages. I guess it wasn't something I remembered at all because there's not really any reason to pay close attention to those NPCs for the most part.
