Sword/Shield didn't even have a story, it was unfinished and what we got were hap-hazardly stitched together bits that came out of nowhere and make no sense. Treating the narrative of that game as a "storyline" is being kind to it, it was half-assed like everything in that game. That said, "Pokemon going out of control" isn't an interesting enough topic to bring it up again. I should point out that Orre games on the Gamecube 20 years ago did this better with Shadow Pokemon and an actually intimidating bad guy faction in Cipher, but then again they also had better graphics, animation, double battles, better characters ect. so this isn't unexpected.

Speaking of villains, the ones in AZ look like a tired old retread of Team Flare but with even worse looking suits. It's hilarious that Gamefreak's villains peaked with Team Plasma, and arguably with the "fakeout" that Team Skull weren't the true bad guys. This is as good as their writing ever got. I am not kidding my self here we will get anything groundbreaking in AZ.

Reminder that there were only 4 clothes in the base game of SV. If you played a female character, I'm sorry "Body Type B" character you didn't even get a dress, just the same generic outfits that the male character got. Best part is that I know they did it not just for DEI purposes but also so they could shill clothes players actually wanted to wear in DLC. Maybe this is the reason why they focused so much on it in the AZ trailer, lmfao.
 
Dude, Dragonite looks terrible. I like the ball on its tail and that its tail is longer. Slimming Dragonite up for an improved battle form is fine, but they didn't take it far enough.

Which was already retreaded in Legends: Arceus with the Wardens, and Scarlet and Violet with the Titans. You could argue that the Dynamax storyline, too, was just a retread of the Alolan Totems with slightly more malice involved.

This site (tried 3 different archives and none worked) has some of them, their descriptions, and more artists' renditions. The goofier looking ones like Starmie and Victreebel are meant to be rampaging Dynamax Megas without trainers.

There's also some leaked story bits like Zygarde having a psychic connection with an older Lysandre and Quasartico hiding a new Ultimate Weapon inside Prism Tower (spoilered for anyone that cares).

We finally get Zygarde lore outside of comics and anime, and this is what it's wasted on? So the game will just be memberberries for XY zoomies and a retreat of that same plotline.

They brought Mega Evolution back but made the new Megas look like Gigantamax.

Yes. The head-wings aren't flapping, and they seem to act more like extra arms than anything else. Spreading out or smacking air. It only flies with its back wings. Look at its animations here:
The battle idle leaves them completely motionless. The head-wings only move when attacking or initially mega-evolving. Otherwise, they're completely motionless and it's just the tiny ones on the back keeping it afloat.

Knowing Gamefreak, they did start out life as Gigantomax Pokemon, but then somebody slapped these retards around and told them they need Mega Pokemon since the game takes place in Kalos. Now they are Mega Pokemon, nothing about their design is actually changed aside from making them smaller.

I don't think there's enough footage to make that determination. Being bigger wings I wouldn't be surprised if in its idle animation the big wings flap just less often.
 
holy shit lol did anyone notice that you need to pay currency to change moves, abilities, and natures in Champions? You also can't edit IVs, like at all, only redistribute EVs with some weird and clunky EV-like system that only works on a scale from 1-32.

TL;DR: once a day, you can use any one species for free. Once. If you want to use it any longer, or (likely) bring over any HOME companions you have, you've got to pay points.

You cannot change anything about your Pokémon until it has been permanently purchased. Seems like you just get stuck with some shitty default kit.

You still can't bring anything not in Champions into Champions from HOME, but you also can't bring anything you got from Champions into HOME itself.

Champions is not getting a Switch 2 version. It's only for smartphones and the Switch 1. It's also being developed by ILCA under the name The Pokémon Works.

The site makes no mention of it, but you have to pay currency to "permanently acquire licenses" for various different Pokémon that are included in the game.

Like I said, it's just an inferior Stadium clone with mobile game monetization and modern online play rot. Either way, inferior to just firing up Showdown.
I bet you 100% they will add premium currency down the line, they just need to boil this frog a bit first.

There is no hype surrounding ZA. Nobody is talking about it, and after one of the longest news droughts of any game, the only thing Game Freak cares to reveal is a Dragonite with wings on its head. They aren't even trying to market this game.
I know that at the end of the day this is a Pokemon game, but if things keep going this way I honestly believe it will bomb.
