What makes these cyborg lizards so special they're exempt from battling? Not even Arceus got that kind of special treatment.
I followed barely anything about Gen 9, the fact that people are willing to defend a game where you can't use the box art legendary is mind-boggling. Why are they even playing? Has open world ubislop conditioned gamers so thoroughly that an empty field to run around in gives them a pavlovian boner?
they've spent 30 years developing the same game over and over again,
They've not even been making the 'same game' for the last ten. The last time there was a game with undisputed iteration was BW2 in 2012, they couldn't even make the same game when they've been doing literal remakes since then.

I think my schitzo theory may be coming to pass. A while ago, I speculated that Nintendo is tired of Game Freak and is moving to buy them out, and it will be Creatures and Nintendo running TPC instead. Nintendo's in-house games are very polished, and I think that lack of control angers them because it must be embarrassing.

As for S/V holy shit the game is finally playable, if they cut out Namora the game would be tolerable. I don't know who is worse, Hop or Nemora. Gen 9 has some OK designs, they are no way near as bad as Sun and Moon. Wind and Waves sounds interesting because Terastilization is not awful.

and when they try to do something different it doesn't sell, either because it sucks ass or because it just isn't Pokemon and doesn't pull the same numbers as Pokemon.
Personally I enjoyed their 3DS game Harmoknight. It even had Pokemon songs as bonus unlocks (Gen 1 and 2 with Gen 5 battle theme being the last unlockable boss song). Only downside is the timing is a bit on the strict side, especially when you have to play the songs all over again in double speed for completion sake.

ETA: Was I really the only one here who watched those "don't press the B button" videos as a kid? You're no fun.
Those videos had the Pokémon end up being in a half-way evolved state. Even if this video wa supposed to be one of those, I did not see anything that involved actually pressing the B button, but a Pikachu evolve into something exceptional.

It's still in the same style of a Pokemon evolution going wrong, you've also got videos of mons evolving into toast-shaped scribbles and being deleted (there was a video of a Snivy being deleted by pressing B because the poster didn't like Servine, but I can't find it). I remembered this one because I found it funny yet disturbing.

As unpolished as Pokemon is it still sells like hotcakes, even if Nintendo wants to buy Game Freak, I doubt GF would let themselves be bought out.

Also, Hop is worse just by virtue of being a clone of Hau.

Preorders for Black Bolt/White Flare dropped on Target's online store last night and they surprisingly stayed up for a lot longer than I anticipated, that might hint at the theory of TPCi cutting out LGSs from the loop to curb scalping and slap distributors a bit.
The distribution for LGSs should remain that the stores that have organized play and spaces to play should be the ones getting top priority and the ones that sell alongside other hypebeast shit like sneakers and labubu should be bottom priority. They strayed away from that around the time of the pandemic and it just became a free for all. The other thing is I’m starting to believe that scalpers are not as big of a problem as people like to imply. They’re used as a boogeyman by people who also will buy out stores and fight at restocks in order to consume more product.

Another hilarious thing now is this sudden interest in Chinese cards. All of a sudden, after years of bashing people for collecting Chinese and Korean cards, people suddenly have this interest and are trying to drum up hype and fomo. They’re printed in the same facilities as the Japanese, but there was always that fear of encountering counterfeit cards. Taiwan got a promo to promote their organized play program and all of these retards are trying to get a hold of these promos.
Then there’s the gem packs that all of a sudden are being hyped up. Nobody touched them at first, but the hype and fomo train picked up on them.

Anyone try PokéMMO? I've heard good things for years.
Last time i touched it, I started a Gen5 playthrough and got really fucking annoyed at the level cap they set so you can't go any higher than the gym leader's pokemon. Before that it was worse, if you can believe it, where if you exceeded a recommended level, your pokemon would outright disobey you, as if all of a sudden it acted like a pokemon you got in a trade without having the correct badge.

TLDR: Pokémon Scarlet and Violet actually have technically superior and mo realistic lighting and graphics compared to the old Xenoblade games. The reason why the Xenoblade games look better comes down to them using very old techniques that had been in use in 3D games. Moreover, while Pokémon Scarlet and Violet try to render, say, trees, realistically, the Xenoblade games instead would try to communicate the idea of a tree then rely on the viewer already knowing what a tree is. The Xenoblade games also used several artistic techniques: they made sure tha there was never a plain, boring horizon, bu tried to 'break the line'.

SV is so poorly designed that the game will always crash after a while due to a memory leak(every time you reload a cell, the entire world loads at once, making the game run worse after you enter and leave an interior or another cell). That alone makes any point where those games are technically superior to anything else irrelevant.

So GameStop is doubling down on TCGs after having success with both selling Pokemon and being a (shitty) middleman for PSA submissions for people too stupid to send in their own shit. I don’t see this model being sustainable as the interest in the cards is declining due to dropping prices on the hits of a set that’s not even a month old.

The PSA thing is hilariously bad, like people submitting cards that are worth much less than the fees as well as hurrying to submit chase cards such as moonbreon/sunbreon or whatever the chase of the day was and then getting it back and paying fees to get a slab that’s not even worth more than the raw card because there’s so many of them out there.
