No hoenn pokemon but of course kanto gets in

As always
“No Hoenn Pokémon” nigger half of all Mega Evolutions are Hoenn Pokémon. The four Kanto Pokémon here only bring the Kanto Megas to parity with the Hoenn Megas, and that’s only because of Charizard and Mewtwo having two apiece.

Nigger we all know Mega Zard Z is coming.

And that was then. This is about now, even later gens should be on this list. For example gen 2 only gets two spots because starters.

We never know how do they choose whoever gets an alt, but we clearly can see that Kanto always get a variant no matter what and no matter which gimmick.

Listen, I’m actually super on-board with Mega Charizard Z and Mega Mewtwo Z. I love Mega Evolution as a gimmick, Kanto-love and all, and it’s been more than a decade so they may as well lean into this gimmick.

Even then, to say Hoenn is underrepresented as opposed to Johto’s 6 or Sinnoh’s 5 or Unova’s 1 or Kalos’ 1 is disingenuous. Even this list brings the latter most two to 6 and 5 when the Kalos starters should have had Megas from the outset. Frankly, there’s no reason to not also have Xerneas and Yveltal Megas as well if this game is going to take place after X and Y.

Hoenn already is over represented with Megas, adding more would simply exacerbate things. There’s also no other good enough Gen 3 Pokémon barring Exploud and maybe Wailord to receive one.

Jokes aside, yeah. Gen 3 got so many megas in ORAS that I (premiere gen 3 fangirl) am more than okay with this. It opens up more room for cross-gen evos, after all. I do hope most of the oras megas are obtainable in Z-A though, instead of just the three-ish they showed in the trailer.

barring Exploud
based beyond belief, you get a pass for now

Apparently PokeRemixStudio and PilotRedSun are the same person?
Honestly, I can see it. I don't know if this is rumor or fact, but listening to the guy's stuff had me drawing comparisons before I even read your post.

I wonder why he came back to Pokémon remixes in 2024 though? That's definitely what gave him away to my ears, the older stuff is too generic to really make out anything PRS-sounding.

EDIT: he did some in 2019 that I didn't notice. So he took a 9 year break, then left for another 5. Maybe he just makes these when he's in the mood lol

You know, I'd actually be excited for more Megas if it wasn't obvious that they are never coming back when the next mainline series of games shows up.

Unless they bring them back postgame like they did with SM/USUM, this just feels like GameFreak yet again dangling a bunch of keys in front of everyone to sucker them into buying the game because they know damn well Megas are popular as hell, even today.

I still can’t comprehend what they were thinking with the Z-A starters.
>Legends Arceus had gen 2+5+6 starters, can’t wait to see what Z-A will have!
<another gen 2 starter
>oh… they really shouldn’t repeat gens like that, but fine, the other two will be better
<another gen 5 starter
>another repeat?… well at least it’ll be good to see my boy Snivy again-
<it’s Tepig
>o-oh… well, surely they won’t screw up all three choices
<a third gen 2 starter
>what

His site is pretty SOVLful, too.

"These Pokémon are very unpopular. I wonder how we can make them marketable?"

i really like how out of the three z-a starters, only the tepig line is dualtype. i mean i fucking love totodile, but it irks me that it's monotype water. like it was gen 2 that introduced the concept of dualtypes, yet none of its starters took advantage of that. totodile should be water/dark, cyndaquil should be, idk, fire/normal?, and chikorita should be grass/poison (i'd prefer grass/fairy, but fairy type didn't exist yet).

i wonder if they'll do something different with their final evolutions in z-a like they did with legends arceus. it did fix the monotype issue with typhlosion by making it fire/ghost, so it's possible meganium could actually be usable for once if they change up its typing.

in other, more important, news, i managed to catch two shiny yellow florges and four shiny lapras. please clap.

initially dualtypes weren't a thing until gen2. gen1 pokemon were then retroactively given dualtypes, hence fire/flying charizard and grass/poison venusaur

edit: WAIT, i misremembered, but there's a reason for it: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Dual-type_damage_misinformation

and a related plebbit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/189hi37/gen_1_dual_types/

It might also be because there were several dual types in Gen 1 that there were several repeats of so there's less "identity" attached to some second typings. There's 9 different grass/poison type pokemon- all from 3 different triple evo lines, no less. Not to mention 6 rock/ground types, 3 water/ice types, 3 water/psychic types and let's not get in to naming normal/flying types. So maybe it kinda diluted their presence whereas something like Charizard or the Gastly line had more unique typings that were easier to identify

Honestly I had the opposite problem. I used to swear up and down that Tangela was grass/poison as well just because it's so unfathomable to think that it's the only mono-grass type in Gen 1
