I've never played Go. How bad is it if you live in a rural area?
I live in the suburbs, but I'm near a preserve and thankfully there's plenty of pokestops and gyms at parks and fields, especially if there's a shit load of signs.

But some towns are just completely fucked and barren, including ones that have massive shopping centers and malls. You'd think they would be easy pickings, but sometimes you have to go to the next town over, or two towns over to find an area with tons of spots.

It used to be much worse, with literally nothing spawning, but it got better during covid. I don't think my local go group is even has 30 people in it. Most raids are inviting people from online.

I've mostly stopped playing, because the FOMO was killing me, but my husband still actively plays, and the nerf on remote raid players was bad.

Finally got my shiny Torchic, just as Arkansas closed their polls. Was the 10,316th Torchic.

As I research, the amount of Pokémon manga that exists and there are no scans around is incredible. But here a rare, pre censorship Jinx

These kodomo book would be a great way to learn japanese

There used to be a number of Tumblrs dedicated to scans of Pokemon media that have sadly been lost to time; the scan of Ranse's Color Picture scroll was one such casualty.
There are lots of oneshots for pokémon that never got translated

I am currently finishing read the pokémon manga adaptations. I just finished the I choose you manga. There are some stories that are pretty alright but Holy shit the Volcanion and Margeana was so fucking bad.

Sadly there isn't translations for the early films until the last gen 3 film with Manaphy.

Now there are two or three left: the zeraora and the coco films.

Surprisingly I liked the Hoopa one the most so far. The I choose you was 2nostalgia4me

The Nintendo Switch successor is confirmed to be backwards compatible with the original Switch's titles (duh, but now it's official), so you can think about how the later Pokemon games are going to run on it. It is possible that Nintendo went hard after the Yuzu and Ryujinx emulators late in the console's life cycle because the ROM format of the new console is compatible with the emulators on day 1:

Nintendo Switch 2 Officially Confirmed to Be Backward Compatible

Super Switch is expected to use the Tegra T239, with ARM Cortex-A78 cores instead of Cortex-A57, 12 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB, and a much better Nvidia GPU supporting some version of DLSS upscaling.

I got redirected to this thread by accident.

Oh shit, found something amazing. Here in Brazil, when pokemon was introduced, they released a magazine that covered lots of information about pokémon and in this website there are some issues (not all, it was serialized for 87 issues until third gen)

As you can expect from an era, there is lots of misinformation, in this page they use the japanese names and calls Sneasel steel type instead of dark type. They even attempt to link with Meowth line. They call Blissey an pre evolution to Chansey

You can see lots of old merchandise and products, quite fun stuff to see.

And those children letters and drawings, man, these types of magazines oozes soul, not sure how it was in other countries, but Brazil had lota of these fan focused magazines based on anime with parodies, articles full of bullshit and rumors.

You can see more in the link bellow

Do you mean translations of the novels/manga tie-ins for the films? CN would play films regularly on saturday evenings during the mid-late aughts.
I mean the manga version of the early films, not the movies themselves.

Damn this brings me memories, I remember I had these anime comics compiled into a bigger book.

They would add these GS pokémon with their japanese names and add the english names in future editions. Also here they said that Ampharos was going to be electric/dragon

Their news section, showcasing the tcg gb game, the pokémon airplane, the TCG, news about the third film and even the original japanese names of the pokémon.

Also some deadass websites

An article about the first film on the cinemas, the kids looks so happy lol

And of course they may be the first time brazilian kids knew how the initials were going to be in their final stage. Curiously there are ads of the price of the games and if we convert to today's money it was the price of a new console game today. The GBC itself was the triple of the gane price, no shit I never knew there was a game when I was a kid, these prices were insane.
Screenshot_20241106-211403-591.png

And you know they were starving for content when they made a special about the summer olympics games (curiously it was my First olympics that I have memory)

Screenshot_20241106-212121-794.png

Sadly there isn't more issues of the later era, I wish to see what they were saying about the advanced generation.

Edit: found some later issues right before the american release of RS, there are some leaked designs that were absent from the teraleak.

And even better: competitive autism, with the real life brazilian elite 4 showcasing their teams and explaining it. Pure autism but fun.

And yeah, they also have original designs donut steel artwork

I dedicate this to @Horribadger.
I dewoked the latest version of Pokémon Emerald Seaglass (version 3,0). Thankfully, all I had to do was change a few lines of text in the intro; the rest of the hack was clean.

Since there was no source code, what I eventually did was use Glitched Xtractor in pulling a .csv file from the ROM. That .csv file is actually a series of hex addresses followed by whatever data was in that address but run through the Pokémon character encoding. Then, I opened up the .csv file with a text prorgamme, searched for the woke text, pu the addresses in Glitched Text Extractor that had already loaded the ROM, then replaced the text. There may be some garbage text internally because the original text i shorter than the woke text, but a very quick playtest had that part run just fine.

Sinc extracting the .csv took about 22 hours (or a few less), I appended the .csv file to the archive.

If you can remove the white outlines around it, I will play again.

My autistic focus in Pokemon Go is the 0* pokemon. They're statistically rarer than perfect IVs, and you'll never know unless you check them yourself, and mark them.
