I have the say, while the GTS was fine for the first week, it's complete bullshit right now. Same problem it always gets were people want ridiculous shit for something that's not that hard to get in-game.

That being said, I have about 80% of what I need to update my living pokedex when the Bank update comes out. The only thing I'm missing right now are all the legendaries since I haven't got around to catch them yet, Type: Null and Silvally, Cosmog, Cosmoen and Lunala, and all of the different colors for Minior. I should be getting Moon for christmas, and then I'm going to have to replay that game a few times to get duplicates for the living dex.

That, and to actually add the update and go over it so that there's no bugs with the addition of alola mons and forms (like alolan vulpix becoming normal vulpix or reverse).

Speaking of bugs, has there been any in Sun and Moon? The only ones I know were the GTS picture bug, the supposed "corrupted save" in the Pokemon Center for cheating, and pokerus showing up as still being active and not cured when attempting to switch to another mon on the battle screen.

there's a bug with Synchronize in SOS battles where to Synchronize any 'mon called in, you have to have the Synchronizer on the field when the SOS 'mon spawns and then the game pulls the nature of the first pokemon in your party (outside of battle), not necessarily the Synchronizer's.

so right now I'm SOS Chaining for a Jolly shiny Bounsweet, and the first guy in my party outside of battle is a fainted level 1 Jolly Salandit (though he's appearing in my last slot in battle, but that doesn't matter). i'm using my Synchronizer Alakazam to knock out the Bounsweet, but the game is gonna use the nature of the Salandit when rolling to decide if the Bounsweet's nature is random or synchronized. it's kind of annoying.

also when SOS chaining, the chain counter rolls over to 0 after 255 encounters which basically means that after 255 encounters in an SOS chain, it completely resets and you'll have to work back up to get the higher HA/shiny chance and the 4IVs. this may or may not be an oversight.

but in other news we do have confirmation that with the shiny charm the chances of getting a shiny with SOS chaining are 1/683 (1/1024 without).

edit: here's what the current Smogon OU tierlist (pre-bank) looks like, for any other autists who are interested:

Pheromosa is totally gonna get banned within a month or two though. fuck that.

So for those of you who need Destiny Knots but don't want to earn BP, or just want to farm items while leveling up, the mechanics for Pick Up have changed this generation. Unlike previous games, where items were limited to certain levels, now all items are available from the beginning, with level only effecting the frequency of rarer items appearing.

While grinding outside of the Battle Tree, I'm running a team of five pick up pokemon. After fifty-three battles and at level 44 I got my first Destiny Knot. Along the way I've also gotten some pearl strings, healing items, and some moon stones.

For some reason, no one wants to trade a Buzzwole for Pheromosa on the GTS. Either a huge number of people got Moon (which would change like twenty years worth of trends), or few people have gotten far enough to catch a Buzzwole yet. This is pretty unusual, since, in both Y and Alpha Sapphire, version exclusives and trade evolutions always ended up going through in like an hour for me.
I've got a spare Buzzwole if you wanna trade.

Look at that Zygarde, going "I don't need a third game anyway."

Instead of Third Game, he means "A quick cash in, because this is Pokemon, you know it's gonna sell Millions even though this is simply a enhanced version of the previous two games featuring content that may as well already have been there."

Man, Gamefreak made such a good decision when they decided against "Pokemon Gray" and "Pokemon Z."

The absolute redundant-ness of Pokemon Platinum, combined with just how lackluster Generation 4 was already being, almost caused me to not give a shit about Generation 5.

Stupid Guzzlord with its stupid Thrash killing its stupid self.

It was one of only four things that I had to try multiple times, and the only one of those that took three tries. The others were Totem Lurantis (because it called a damn Sunny Day Castform the first time), the battle with Guzma at the Aether Foundation (he got in a few critical hits, and this was the point at which I began to be at least one or two levels behind opponents), and that dumb bitch with the four Oricorio on Poni Island (because I didn't have a Rock or Ice move at the time, my team is pretty slow, constant flinching from Air Slash, and the Baile Oricorio kept decimating my Vikavolt, among other things).

I really hope that Pokemon Stars (or whatever the next Gen VII games end up being called) is a direct sequel to Sun/Moon the way B2W2 was a direct sequel to Black/White. I actually think that's pretty likely; Black/White and Sun/Moon are the games with the heaviest emphasis on story (which is why BW got a continuation of its storyline instead of a rehash of it).

There's quite a bit left hanging in Sun/Moon that could be expanded on in a sequel, such as:

  • Lillie's journey as a Trainer in Kanto
  • Whether Lusamine makes a full recovery or not
  • Whether Lusamine truly regrets her actions and is trying to make amends or not
  • The third Type: Null (three were created; Gladion has a Null and gave you one, which leaves one unaccounted for)
  • The Ultra Beasts (seriously, there is so much about them that still needs to be explored)
  • The backstories of "Fallers" like Anabel
And this has to do more with setting rather than plot, but throughout Sun/Moon you get the impression that Alola is rather neglected in the Pokemon world. Its lack of a Pokemon League means it's often overlooked and most people only see it as a vacation spot. Professor Kukui specifically created the League on Mount Lanakila in order to put Alola on the map and to show the world that it's a region full of strong Trainers.

In the post game, it seems as though his work is paying off, with even Red and Blue coming from Kanto to check out Alola. So I think it would be cool to see how the Alola region looks in a couple of years.

Is there a way to block this 'call for help' shit? Or do I need to just run? Because it pisses me off.

Actually, inducing status seems to block it out. Ended up finding that out the hard way when Bagon hunting. Accidentally paralyzed one of them, fucked the chain completely as a result.

If you paralyze or put the opponent to sleep, they can't call for help.

Hey guys,

Wow, I haven't been on these forums for a while and it's good to be back but I come to you needing help.
A friend has a buddy he mentors that's a kid with autism, and he keeps getting bullied by these other kids. They apparently always beat his Pokemon card deck and tease him for it, so we're desperately researching and trying to build him a great deck and teach him strategies to kick the bullies' asses. Does anyone on here play the TCG? Know of good decks? I'm researching but I want an insider's perspective.

Thanks.

Really now? That's weird. Might Synchronize also be bugged with the UBs too? Some people I've heard had issues with getting UBs to have the right nature with Synchronize.
I went for a Timid Nihilego myself, and it practically got every nature but Timid in every attempt I had (roughly 20+ encounters or more) before I eventually got it Timid. The chance is 50%, but there's no way I was that unlucky when it happened to several others.

Guessing I should feel lucky enough for my SOS chained shiny then if that's an oversight.

Oh boy it's gonna be expensive, lad.

Like Chicken Nugget said, making a good deck will be expensive. There are a lot of good deck suggestions online but you'll have to gather all of the 60 cards you'll need for the deck and a lot of these decks involve cards that are expensive. Of course you could simply buy a theme deck at any store that sells the cards which would run you about 10-15 dollars and it will have everything you need to play and an instruction manual. Apparently there's a deck called "Dark Hammer" that was released which is quite decent (it has Pangaro on it) Also consider downloading the offical Pokemon TCGO game which is online pokemon cards, you can play agaisnt the computer or real people and it does a good job of teaching the game. Pokemon card boosters and decks come with codes which you can put in the TCGO game and get the boosters and decks in a virtual form.

So I finally found a leppa berry and in 3 days I've gone from one berry to 513. I've swapped to using one field for Sitrus for free heals now though.

I'm basically gonna try for a good ditto (and needed a leppa to swap and more leppas to eat), though everyone's telling me to wait for postgame to bother.

I've just gotten to rainy absol village though, so I've probably a long way to go.

Supposedly Pokemon GO is rolling out a new update involved the second gen. However, rather than giving you access to all new mons at once, they only roll out a couple for now... and you can only get them in eggs, so so much for catching new shit in the wild.

This shit is why I stopped playing Pokemon Go months ago. It has so much potential but right now it's just shit.

Go really needs a better battle system IMHO.
If only there was some way to have fun Pokemon battles with nearby people...
