What's this?
Lol
What Black/White was... a huge pokedex of NEW pokemon in a new region with no past mons piggy-backing it.

It should also go back to what made pokemon successful to begin with.... the feeling of being a kid training monsters that you personally like, going on adventures and training them the way YOU want to and giving them the moves that YOU think would be cool to give it. That feeling of "this is not just your team, but your best friends that you've made many memories with".

It should also include:
  • No HMs
  • trainer rematches
  • hard mode that is NOT tied to Nuzlocke bullshit
  • absolutely NO hidden stats (IV's)
  • at least one new type to make everything more balanced so that the other lesser used types can shine.
  • Online battles for that extra replayability

I like to vent on Emerald Rouge a bit. The 7 gym badge is as far as i have gotten.
I managed to beat the game exactly once, on my first try, and then never again. I think flipping all the switches in the lobby after my victory to unlock everything probably made it harder. Fun little game.

On less of a doomer note, what would your dream Pokémon game be? Fan games and hacks are getting somewhat creative now (only took them about 10 years), with stuff like Emerald Rogue and Tectonic actually trying new things, so I'm curious.
A Pokemon Card GB2 sequel where all cards (except for maybe the Imakuni joke cards from the expansion sheets) from the original run and Neo series are playable.

@Anonitolia
Pokemon deserves coverage but I’d bet it’s being done because they don’t want everyone talking about every little detail and doing silly leaks. It’s a game like PLA, it’s not going to have DLC to keep it going. Once out it will be out.

You want to actually keep the hype until you are closer to release. Not a year out.

And the mainstream has always been like this with Pokemon. They’ll come back for the next game as they always do.

We are approaching 6 months since PL: Z-A's reveal without a single droplet of news.

I wonder if they're actually sticking to that "we want to slow down" sentiment from the interview from a few months back? I know this kind of news drought also happened with PLA, but with that we at least got gameplay revealed in the first trailer and a synopsis of the game's setting, starters, and gameplay. We don't know anything about Z-A yet other than its setting in Lumiose City and sequel status to PLA. It's kind of impressive.

I won't lie, I'm glad that this is the case. It's staved off a lot of the retarded fake leaks (since absolutely nothing is believable, nobody even bothers speculating) and properly killed off discussion of a series that, frankly, doesn't deserve it in the modern day. SV ran out of stuff to talk about when Indigo Disk dropped nearly a year ago and even that was bereft of new shit to discuss by 2024. Given that the sales of the series have properly stagnated now--
Sad they just had to fucking ruin the last region I actually enjoyed with their miserable modern bullshit before they croaked. Maybe if we're real lucky ZA will get canceled or something before the franchise goes into hibernation, but I really doubt that.

Well Worlds 2024 is going well, one player was caught cheating and was disqualified and a player that managed to get Top 4 in the TCG's Masters division was disqualified after making an "obscene" gesture after winning his match. Was he making a jerk-off gesture or a dice roll gesture? That's up to you to decide.

Now we have Iron Thorns ex and Miradon ex as Masters' current semifinalists. I'm really fucking happy to see both decks do this well (with a special mention to Iron Thorns ex, that one is considered a joke deck to most people). As to who will do well it's 50/50 at this point, Miraidon ex has a lot of strong attackers and decent Energy acceleration but Iron Thorns ex is nasty match-up for any deck that's heavily reliant on Rule Box Pokémon with Abilities.

Didn't Jonathan Evans (?) pulled out the middle finger during Worlds 2016 in VGC? IIRC, that moment was edited out of the VOD that incident happened in, and he didn't get DQed for it. Maybe it was a recent rules change that led to that DQ for that action. (?)

Lockstin, of the Pokémon learning channel Gnoggin, is getting shit on by the Godzilla super fans. He didn't know about the Shin movies and now they are overtly pissed off at him.

Link to some people getting angry? I guessed it had something to do with politics but it wasn't as political as I thought.

I've wanted hardmode for so long in Pokémon. Its a crime that Gamefreak has yet to actually implement one, and even if they did they would still fuck it up.
I agree with everything BUT the no IVs. I'm fine with them, but the grind is absolutely aids. It also shouldn't be a pain to know what IVs they have either, and should be transparent.

I've been replaying Pokémon Emerald lately and the and the one thing I appreciate is how quick dialogue is compared to the more modern games, which scenes are a slog and unskippable (I have yet to play any of the Switch games). My only two gripes is the retarded AI (sadly like this in all games) and the overuse of certain Pokémon with the various Trainers. Otherwise I'm having fun. Breeding is such a chore this gen however.

Also, is there a ROM hack yet for Omega Ruby/Sapphire that makes it harder? The actual game was an absolutely shitty remake and it still pisses me off. Or better yet, is there one for Emerald that makes it harder and implements the Gen 4 physical/special attack split?

Edit: Thanks for the recommendations for Radical Red and Pokemon Elite Redux earlier in the thread. Will check them out, but I'm looking for something a bit more "vanilla".

Imablissy’s competative Pokemon is pay2win series is getting silley now. Yes, it costs you the price if the game and the DLC to olay. No shit. Lol.
I have too many ideas. I've always wanted a Pokémon game with rubber banding so legendaries are hard to control but shitmons can be buffed if you use and care for them enough.
In fairness that’s kind of what EV and IVs and Badges needed to control Pokemon did.

I doubt it’s ever going to become more complex than that when Pokemon seems to be trying to get away from all of that complexity and autism with stuff like Bottle Caps, Mints and ways to control EVs

They did. And they did.

Fuck the bloody Key System. Fuck it to hell.

Fucking hell, Iron Thorns ex Control won Masters TCG Division. I wasn't expecting that but I'm glad it happened. Roaring Moon go first in Juniors division and Regidrago VSTAR got first in the Seniors division.
I have some bad news for you
I know that they didn't show anything for the opening ceremony, but the closing ceremony's been confirmed to have some news.

Ishihara mentioned that they'd be sharing "special" news for future Pokémon games at the closing ceremony on Friday.
Oh, huh, I guess that's what I get for not being interested enough in competitive to watch the championships.
I hope he didn't just mean mobile shit since that's all we've gotten so far and the only news has related to TCG Pocket as of now. Then again, that doesn't specify Z-A either. Maybe he's officially announcing that slowdown thing.
Eh, probably not. I really do wonder what on earth could warrant something that vague and noncommittal of a statement though. Kinda makes the atmosphere more ominous given Gamefreak's track record.
