I think you can catch a female Combee and that unlocks a shiny female? Worth a shot.
This was correct. I caught a Vespequin and it allows me to now use shiny female Combees if I should so choose.

A couple of wild shiny Pokemon:

I hatched this out of an Epic (not Legendary) Egg:

I wasn't in a position to try and catch him:

Standard mode complete!

And... a Manaphy Egg?? That doesn't come out of a Legendary or... Epic Egg? (There wasn't even a Manaphy in it. It was a Phione.)

Its not a fun game at all.

Most of the time on the lower levels the enemies will just 2 shot your pokemon with quick attack even when they are around level 12 fighting a level 8 and normal moves aren't effective against them with a high defense stat. Type advantages don't seem to matter and a ghost type is a REQUIREMENT to get past the first 20 rounds because of how often the AI will blatantly cheat. Though even if I somehow got my hands on a ghost pokemon, im sure the game would cheat and make it so normal type moves can hit a gastly anyway while of course only making that nullified type resistance work for the ai. Fuck that noise. I'd rather just cheat in kind.

Got a run to around 120~ish and have come to the realization that an extra Super EXP Charm and/or EXP All here or there is so insanely powerful that it took me from losing consistently at round ~30 to 100+. The luck/skill ratio in this game is absolutely fucked and I think with some more balancing it could be really, really good, but as it is you're basically relying entirely on luck with items or the legendary egg gatcha to get anywhere. The game just gets too hard, too fast without those factors.

That said, it's still fun in that way that even bad roguelites are, where sometimes you get that God Run and you absolutely decimate the game for a while. It needs to take more cues from its supposed inspiration Risk of Rain and make the game way more skill- and knowledge-based rather than 100% "please give me good items" but I think there's a good foundation for something truly special that will get taken down in a few weeks.

Oh, and for the love of Christ, please add a way to either skip or turn off dialogue. I don't need to see the stupid Rival's dumbass text for the 20th time, every time.

Yeah, the difficulty ramps up fast but I'm still learning some new tricks to help with future runs. For example, it was mentioned earlier in the thread that Pokemon have no limits on the amount of items they can carry. This isn't true of course as there are limits to how many of specific items they can carry but they can certainly carry a lot of them. What I recently learned was that you can move items (except vitamins) from one Pokemon to another. I also learned that wild Pokemon carry lots of items, and good ones too. For example:

Metal Coat.png
This Archaludon is carrying a Metal Coat. Metal Coats boost the damage of Steel type attacks by 20%. If I can catch this Archaludon, I can add it to my party and move that Metal Coat to my Zacian to boost Behemoth Blade's damage. Also, notice that number "1" on the lower left hand corner as well as its white color. This means that a Pokemon can carry multiple Metal Coats and not just one. I assume that the more you have, the more they stack additively.

10 Lum Berries.png
It's a little harder to see with this image but my Zacian here is holding 10 Lum Berries. The number 10 has changed from white to an orange-peach color signifying I'm holding a maximum amount of Lum Berries on this Pokemon.

With these in mind, what I figure is that it's best to work on a few Pokemon rather than an entire party of six. Maybe 5 with some luck on Exp. All drops and using that 6th slot as a revolving door to acquire items from wild Pokemon. It's worth mentioning that wild Pokemon can come carrying Lucky Eggs and Golden Lucky Eggs that boost the xp the carrying Pokemon receives by 40% and 100%. If you're having bad luck on extra charms, you may make up for it with drops from wild Pokemon.

If you haven't been practicing any of that, then I hope I've just doubled your item pools and made things easier.

I finally got my first shiny and it’s a fucking Weedle. End me.

I’m doing consistently better and completed my first daily run, but I lost to the final rival battle in classic. I had no answer to fire types and a Blaziken just nuked my team. Now I’m going through with a Groudon with great IVs except Attack which is zero so we’ll see.

I’ve never noticed any bias in favor of Ghost types or cheating AI, and I got to around 150 on my first run and only lost because I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t heal my party before a gym leader. Are you sure you’re not experiencing, dare I say it… a skill issue? :smug:

In all seriousness, it’s like most roguelikes where you get your ass handed to you in the first or second section until you learn the mechanics and which items are more important than others, then you can consistently get through the first half even with shitty luck. And get a starter with a purple frame/Pokerus if possible, it helps immensely.

(Just now read this because I’m slow and didn’t scroll up)
I'd really appreciate it if the developers of this "game" kept their in-game-mechanic sperging to a minimum or had an option to skip the tutorials. I get that most people are extremely fucking retarded these days given why this site exists in the first place.
You do have the option to skip tutorials. Did you look at the settings?
(Also why did you feel the need to put “game” in quotation marks?)
However, Its really fucking obvious that defeating pokemon or trainers will drop random items and money and they shouldn't be continuing to point this shit out 5 battles in
They only point it out after the first battle…
and no fucking shit a pokemon's current status is persistent.
It wasn’t obvious to me. Knowing that things like stat changes and toxic spikes carry over between wild battles and only reset when entering a trainer battle, which is not how they work in the original games, makes certain moves much more valuable than usual.
If they must do that kind of sperging, at least do it on something not blatantly obvious, like the non descriptive symbols for physical/non-physical moves and the difference between them. Or Priority moves. Because that actually matters in battles.
That stuff has been around since gen 3/4, it’s not exactly new.

To those keeping watch, Pokémon Yellow Legacy got released.
I would rather wait until that hack gets revised, whic happened to Crysta Legacy. Of course, Emerald Legacy would be next.

The only thing I hate about this are the self-inserts from the team that worked on it. Everything else seems to be reasonable choices.

Giving this a shot. Playing Hard Mode for that extra challenge. So far it seems cool. First level cap is 12 for Brock's Onix. Using Pikachu, Poliwag, and Beedril because i wanted to test out a bug type to see how much better it is in this gen. Planning on swapping it out for a Pinsir which you can get on the road that's to the right of Cerulean City that leads to the Dark Cave. More and more I'm warming up to Pinsir for whatever reason when before I didn't like him.

SV has a shared serial code event running as of yesterday, using the code 987W1THSPECS nets you a Flutter Mane based around the one used by the champion of Korea’s Trainer Cup last year. The code lasts until tomorrow so if you want to get it I’d recommend doing so.

The next 7-Star raid event has also been announced, a Fairy Tera Type Primarina will run between May 10th and 12th and a rerun will occur a week later.

Man what the fuck is with these retards and their sub-100 level caps in pokemon of all things? When its more of a soft cap than anything to incentivize getting gym badges in the main games, not any kind of power creep prevention mechanic when the same discordnigger retards have no concept game balance and don't care as long as nothing benefits the player.

Got passed Misty with ease... as soon as Pikachu learned ThunderPunch, he pretty much wrecked the entire Gym, including Starmie, which only took 2 hits to kill.

Currently at Vermillion... By the time I got to the route where Diglet's Tunnel is and started fighting the trainers there, all of my Pokemon level capped to 24 (assuming that's the level of Lt. Surge's Raichu). Now I'm training a Farfech'd I caught at the route where the daycare center is because i always wanted one. At least now the S.S. Anne battles won't be COMPLETELY pointless (outside of money rewards anyways)

Alright, here's where I stand (Wave 171) so far:
Screenshot 2024-05-09 210255.png
Trying to see if I can phase out Golisopod and Mamo. Gyarados and Raichu have been just a blessed core to wipe away rando trainers and wild mons.

Took some save scumming (refreshing when you're about to white out) to get here, in part because the site is prone to erroring out and shutting down, at times, and because the early game will spitroast aggressively if starter choices are limited and your luck is total ass. I'll continue using this file to grind out achievements, and vouchers for eggs in the gacha. Whatever makes a future (more legit) playthrough less hellish early on.

Latest run of Rogue came to an unfortunate end at 120 - of all types, I didn’t enough to deal with a Water Type Gym Leader.

Considering this run started with Pokerus shenanigans, and got me a handful of good Eggs, I can’t complain too much.

And while I wish there was a way to skip the Rival dialogue, watching them become unhinged the further you get amuses me, so I can’t complain too much. I’ll just add that the PC version of the site is hot garbage.

120? If you go at it again, prepare for 145 and 195. I won't spoil what those events are, but out of your six mon slots, please spare one for a Tinkaton and prep it with re-learn mushrooms and a mint (if you are obscenely lucky), I swear to God. She'll be essential for 195 and the endgame. I lost at 195 using the team I posted in the screenshot above; replaced Gogoat (they fell off badly last run) with a useless Roserade, Golisopod with a trooper Granbull, and Mamo with last-minute GOAT in Tink.

Bastard starts out in base with boss bars, then Eternamaxes on you when you get it to the last bar of his base form. E-Max Eterna has a personal that snatches the held items you've equipped onto your guys throughout the journey. I had to cheese the perfect run. Tinkaton fought it in its base form because it has no moves to damage her [in that form]. Then, when it E-Maxes, I had to strategize around using Flatter with Tink and Nuzzle with my Raichu to fuck it with classic parafusion. All of that cheese and I still had to pray that my Gyarados could safely enter and set up DDances. On "the run," I think I loaded up five DDances and tore through it, while the praying that Eterna kept hitting my other mons, which basically served as chip damage/distraction fodder at this point.

Well yeah, another Pokémon game packed up. However, I still won't get any work done, it seems.

Truly fun game. Here's hoping Game Freak doesn't launch the C&D this year, at least! Also, leave it a fanmade roguelike to write a good rival. Ivy/whoever the male rival is enjoyable.

Just played a little of Colosseum.

No way is it already 20 years old?

(and ORAS is already a decade old)
ORAS definitely made more use out of the gen 6 mechanics than X/Y did.

Ivy was alright. At least she believes in us unlike any of the other female professor assistants.

Would be pretty cool if pokemon ditched the static regional format and just used ai generated land masses for exploring postgame content. Would definitely be worth the exorbitant prices they charge for the games these days. They kind of did that with the dimension hopping game in USUM. So they could even bring something like that back to explain how its even possible to explore infinitely generated pokemon worlds. But I understand this is post-Iwata GAME FREAK I am talking about and that won't happen.
