so dose Nintendo own the right to the gameplay/style itself? sorry for the stupid question.
They don't, but there have been attempts at Poke-Clones/Replacements and none have had any staying power. Recent example Palworld is likely a flash in the pan. They're competing with an entrenched behemoth that is arguably one of if not the most popular merchandizing brands ever.

It's going to rot for a long time yet.

This actually popped up in LifeSiteNews.

Pokémon Go slammed for introducing genderless characters in latest app update

Many online are condemning the popular children's game Pokémon Go for pushing the LGBT agenda on children.

(LifeSiteNews) — Pokémon Go is being blasted for their new app update that seems to erase gendered avatars and replace them with genderless characters.

On April 17, the popular game Pokémon Go announced an app update to allow players to change their avatar’s appearance, which many online are pointing out is an attempt to push the LGBT agenda on children by making genderless game characters.

“Trainers, your avatar can now look even more like YOU!” the official Pokémon Go account wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“We’re excited to announce that new avatar customization options are now live in Pokémon GO!” it continued.

Many online were quick to point out that the update changed avatars from male and female to genderless characters.

Launched in 2016, the game has become immensely popular, particularly among children. However, in the new update, male avatars were given more feminine features and female avatars were given larger bodies and more defined jawlines, blurring the lines between the genders.

“Character creators in AAA games went from Male/Female to Body Type A and Body Type B,” former video game executive Mark Kern wrote on his X account.

“The next step, from AAA Studios I spoke with, says even body types are being erased in upcoming games,” he continued. “Instead, you will be presented with a random mix of male and female parts, bodies, heads and faces.”

“Pokemon Go! already did this yesterday. This is the future of AAA games,” he warned.

Similarly, many online responded to Pokémon Go’s update announcement, condemning the move.

“We are not androgynous,” one commented, while another pointed out, “The attack on women continues with Pokémon GO’S new update.”

“The new avatars almost look unnatural compared to the old ones,” another lamented. “They all look like they are transsexuals.”

“Who suggested this change and why to the anatomy?” another user questioned. “Why were the small indents on the women’s hips adjusted at all? Why not add more variation options in clothing and hair styles instead?”

“I’d like to ask about a partnership as well. I discovered an activist group who lists you as a client … id like to know if they had any hand in this,” the user continued.

Indeed, many online are pointing to Pokémon Go’s recent decision to consult with LGBT advocacy group GaymerX which aims to push the LGBT agenda into games.

“What’s behind the @PokemonGoApp gender erasure?” Kern questioned in an April 18 post.

“Turns out, the makers of Pokemon Go! consulted with a Sweet Baby Inc style consultancy firm, @GaymerX!” he revealed. “Did this lead to the changes?”

“These firms need to go!” Kern declared.

Even if that was the case, the continuity of the games are fucked due to the inclusion of past pokemon. If Hoenn is supposed to take place at the same time Gen1 Kanto takes place, wtf are Gen2 pokemon doing in the Pokedex?
Because Gen 5 clearly follows on from FR/LG and not R/B/Y.
I did not embark on an adventure in New York United States with it's own 150+ monsters to go into the sequel game in the same region to catch fucking zubat and grimer AGAIN.
I still think all the games should have their own Pokédex. Even if that only means like 60-100 new mon heing in the game.

Stuff like the later games having 400 + in the dex honestly feels like it takes away something from the region itself.

by the time Emerald came out I’d think they made it so Gen 3 followed on from the remakes of Gen 1 rather than the origanals.
Even if you want to make that assertion, you view the Gen2 Pokemon in FR/LG AFTER you get the NationalDex, which is a post-game feature, meaning not part of the main series. It's why your golbat will stay a golbat until you beat the elite four. It's why I don't have a problem with it being in Black and White because it's after you've seen the credits and completed the main game, so it counts as bonus material.

The Sevi Islands is also only in FR/LG, unless you count Naval Rock and Birth Island, but even then those two have event exclusive pokemon, so it's not official canon content.

Niantic and the tranny community manager are doubling down on the avatar change by saying players can now change their eye color (even though you could have done that with the older models). I think Ak knows the Tranny CM is the reason why Pokemon Go turned to shit, but he's trying to choose his words carefully. People are still pissed.

I spent more time with some biomes (mostly gasslands and lakes), and out of seasonal and weather appearances they're meh for the most part. I will say that I like the map and graphic updates when you catch Pokemon, but I'm not seeing anything drastic Pokemon changes unless incenses are used. I'm still seeing the same old shit and the same old Pidgeys and Yangoos, and I still struggle with getting pokemon on certain parts of my routes (like nothing shows up). I didn't do the stupid egg hatching event because fuck that.

On my demake of SV, I already said that my Pokédex was packed, but I found a way I could clear some space: I simply switched the Scolipede line (whic had a Future Paradox forme) with a Future Paradox forme of a Bug-typed Betamon. I think I switched which Bug-typed Betamon, too. Because of this, I can fi the beta versions of the Burn Tower Trio.

I miss the Sugimori watercolor art so much it's unreal. It made things seem more authentic.
The watercolors are nice but I started getting fatigued over the style after seeing fans of the monster taming genre community lazily ape it to make their own original, non Pokemon creatures. And these artists who love this style don’t even do anything unique or put their own spin on it, they just draw the same bug or bird or kaijumon with triangle eyes and sharp fangs and teeth. You almost never see a gen one style object mon or a gen one style cute Pokemon not based off of Pikachu or Eevee. The monster tamer community always complains about how Pokemon has such a hold on the genre yet they won’t stop drawing their own creations in its style.

Have we heard anything at all about Pokemon ZA? I'm so hyped to how GF is going to fucking ruin Kalos with their fucking bullshit.
No, why would we? it’s only been 2 months since it was announced and it’s coming out sometimes next year.

We are like half a year away from learning anything.

And anything GF does to Kalos would be an improvement.

Have any of you been playing Pokerogue? It’s a few weeks old now but I found out about it a couple days ago. It’s a great implementation of Pokemon as a roguelite (better than Emerald Rogue, which I also really liked) and it immediately earns my praise for using a bunch of Mystery Dungeon music.

Didn't even know it existed. I'll have to give it a try.

A lot of people do; and it's not because it made things authentic but rather distinguished; pokemon's artstyle has become more and more generic overtime; I don't even think Sugimori's artsyle is the goat, just look at old card artworks from gen 1-2 and you'll find both cards that gives you that classic nostalgic vibe as if they were drawn by Sugimori but also absolute gems; umbreon cards from all gen 2 sets for examples; none of them has been made by Ken, but they are simply gorgeous.
There are other aspects that contributes negatively with that, beyond the artstyle itself, a few times you can blame the background, other times the new pokemon themselves being overlydesigned, the the ugly logos present inside the pictures or placed over the offical art itself; game and the frame of the trading card around the art itself, which a lot of times contributes with the whole blandness thing. The fact that the design of human characters are complete ass doesn't help either, and when they are in 3d I would argue that they're even uglier.

Give it another year before they send the hype train into full gear again.

Everyone forgets the Gen 3 cards when they did shiny pokemon right. No idea when they started backsliding on them but "radiant" pokemon just sounds retarded compared to just putting a shiny star next to their name with art of the shiny version and giving them the same treatment as the current UR alternate art trainer cards like they used to.
