3DS servers will be shut down in 2 and a half hours. Sad to see it go.

I'm currently rushing to finish my friend safari because I forgot the date like a tard. I've got 144/147 mon on hand now, but all three left are in different type categories and I've only got 4 slots left. This is gonna be a close one...

Not too concerned about much else since 99% of it can be replicated with hacking.
Events? Got most of gen 6's legit.
Specific combos of moves on mon? Have most of the ones I care about already.
Wonderlockes? I did so many when I was younger that I think I've permanently burnt out.

I'd wonder trade/online battle one last time too but I've already spent a few hundred hours of my life on that and I'd rather not waste one more when there's a chance of bricking my system with it. At the most I'll probably trade away one final box of breedjects that I still haven't gotten rid of and call it a day then.

Sucks to see the servers go down regardless, even if it's understandable as to why. I'm only thankful that the 3DS got longer to live than the DSi, it's nice compensation for that awful fiasco.

I’ve been Wonder trading some old breedjects in X and I‘ve mostly been getting garbage, the only things of note so far is a Shiny JPN Doduo (that I’ll more than likely transfer to SV) and a JPN HA Turtwig packing Superpower.

Oh, and which one of you mega weenies sent me a Swirlix/Slurpuff with the nickname “RIP NNID”?

I've wonder traded some breedjects holding event exclusive berries across both Y and Ultra Moon and I've received a bunch of other breedjects back, including multiple Honedge from some guy named Eric. I got a shiny Pawniard, Pumpkaboo, Shaymin and Giratina and of all those only Giratina seems to be legit.
 
I’ve gotten a few breedjects as well but the only Shinies I’ve gotten are a Doduo, a Ledyba, and a Darumaka.

EDIT: Well I just got lucky, I ended up getting a Shiny Lugia from Wonder Trade. I have a feeling it’s hacked (despite it looking legit for the most part) but I’ll run it by PKSM before transferring it.

EDIT 2: And I got another one, this one's a blatantly-hacked Shiny Arceus.

EDIT 3: Add in another hacked Shiny Legendary, this time it's a Shiny Tapu Lele from some YouTuber. Also, people are still managing to Wonder Trade past 4 PM PDT.

EDIT 4: Another Shiny, this time it as a Yungoos from someone named Farquad. And yes, the servers are still up as of 4:20 PDT.

EDIT 5: I got another hacked Shiny, this time it was a Lunala. I also lost my connection but was able to reconnect instantly. Just what the fuck it going on at Nintendo?

EDIT 6: I got another presumably-hacked Shiny, this one's a Lv. 100 Barboach.

EDIT 7: I got a Shiny Dialga this time, it's probably hacked but I'm not too worried. I've heard that NoA got their end time wrong and the shutdown actually takes place at 00:00 UTC.

Ended up giving in and wonder trading a bunch of stuff away for old time's sake. A whole box of Zorua, another of Furfrou, then a bunch of Goomy, Contrary Snivy, Ralts, Swablu, and more.

Got a few funny shinies back, lots of garbage, and plenty of people catching random shit and naming it "bye 3DS" or some variation. Highlights include a level 58 male shiny Braixen, a level 1 shiny Zorua (for one of my normal breedject Zorua), one of my Swablu (for one of my Snivy), and a Pidgey with its hidden ability named YO MAMA!!!!!.

RIP 3DS Wi-Fi, 2013-2024. Let's hope the troons running your replacement server actually finish their work by 2025. :semperfidelis:


EDIT: This might be of some interest.
I made a map with some friends highlighting every place that I got a wonder trade from (minus the box of Zorua). Pretty interesting, I think. Was very surprised by the Russian as I've never gotten an Eastern European before then despite how many Wonder Trades i've done.

Servers still online as of typing this. Not like I'm complaining, just about done with Gen 7 so if there is a little bit of time left, I might do last minute Gen 6 as well.
 
I don't how (did NoJ fuck up their times too?) but I'm pulling off Wonder Trades after 5 PM, I just managed to get a Japanese Uxie and a Shiny Turtwig named Twiggy.
 
Well, I ended off Gen 7 with a bang. I got a shiny Ultra Solgaleo, which is illegal outside of a one event in Japan. It's hacked to hell and back, it's Chinese and got all the ribbons(including the Mt Battle ribbon from Gen 3) but fuck if I care. I might have to trade it away to another game when I use the bank but that's about it.
I have no clue why the servers aren't down, but I guess I might do a little bit of trading in Gen 6 as well.

The current theory is that it's going down on a game-by-game basis, Mario Kart 7's online features are dead now.

I'm still getting Wonder Trades in Ultra Moon but I haven't disconnected from the service since I added in more breedjects from Bank.

/vp/ is theorizing that if you keep the console on, you can still connect.
I turned my off like a retard to use another DS to fire up Alpha Sapphire. Don't turn your DS off or disconnect from the service and you should be fine.
Man, this takes me back to Halo 2 days, when people would keep their consoles up for days and played each other until they literally burned out when the OG Xbox Live was shutting down. I wonder if we will see that again here?
 
This is what I get for not keeping up on Pokémon stuff, had no idea the 3DS servers shut down today. Not that I used it, but that still sucks.

Secret Base QR codes can still be generated and scanned, right? That's not affected by the server shutdown?
 
My Ultra Moon was just disconnected. Error code 006-0811, maintenance.

Seems to be the case, I disconnected my Ultra Moon briefly to get more breedjects ready and now I can't reconnect. Meanwhile my Y is still going strong.

Edit: My second 2DS just updated, WTF?

I believe QR codes aren't affected, the same should be true for the event Magearna.

Despite getting breedject slop that I ultimately transferred to gen 7 and Wonder Traded there, I managed to get a Shiny Kyogre in WT in Y and an Axew with almost perfect IVs in a Heavy Ball in Moon. There are worse ways to cap off the fun, I suppose.

I already shut down my 3DS so I'm officially severed from the divine light of Nintendo Online for good, supposedly. Just gonna have to be patient for a replacement service...

With the exception of Greece and Poland that one time, I've never encountered Eastern Europeans in WT. I just assumed that Pokemon simply isn't popular anywhere west of Germany. Itould be a cultural thing, but I imagine the people living in ex-commie states who play Pokemon are probably fluent enough to play the games in either English (or German), hence why X&Y don't have cyrillic among their alphabets.

People could also just be spoofing the listed region of origin in their 3DS manually, idk.

Thirding this, I’m going strong on Ultra Moon on my main 3DS but firing up Sun on my modded 3DS failed to launch.

EDIT: I just got a blatantly-hacked Shiny Electivire named MA NIGGLING. Which one of you sent it?

I don't think I exaggerate when I say that Gen 6-7 had the best online experience out of all Pokemon games. Gen 4 and 5 had it, sure, but you have to remember how shitty and limited it was back in the day. Hell, with how the connection worked on original DS, some wi-fis couldn't even be read by the system, like my home internet, so I had to go to my local library like a dork with my DS if I ever wanted to trade something on the GTS.
3DS changed all that, not only was every connection viable like in any other piece of hardware but the games changed everything. PSS, Friend Safari, Street Pass, Wonder Trade, Festival Plaza and online battling that was better than ever. It was not only easily accessible by everyone, but an integral part of an experience as well.
Future gens on Switch not only require a monthly subscription just to connect, already limiting who can access, but the servers themselves are crap from what I heard, and many features are either limited or cut entirely. Wonder Trade might be the only decent online experience left, unless you really like Raids(which only work if everyone knows what they're doing, if some dumbass kid brings everyone down with his shitmon you can pretty much forget about it if it's a harder raid). Don't even get me started on Gen 9, which was meant to also seamlessly integrate the online experience with the main single player one, but the game is so broken that it barely works offline and breaks completely when you invite other players in.

This is an end of an era, not just for 3DS but for Pokemon as a whole. Well, I guess that era will technically end when Bank shuts down, but we're one foot in the grave already as of today. I hope we get fan alternatives that let us connect just like we got alternatives for Gen 4 and 5 DS online play letting you still access GTS today. Even then, 3DS games will only be a shadow of their former self. I felt it when the GTS was overrun with hackers and I stopped using it, I will definitely feel it when I can't connect my Festival Plaza online anymore or wonder trade whenever I come back to my Gen 7 games. These experiences will simply not be the same, I genuinely believe you were meant to connect to the plaza and level it up as you played the game.
Speaking of which, I guess all my guests the Plaza had are now forever trapped in my game, huh? Whoops. I guess that's kind of dark, huh? Hope the Rare Kitchen can feed them or something.

Online has been discontinued for me on my Moon save. If it was an incremental shutdown, then it's already reached me on the East Coast.
