Third versions offered genuine new content that made it a worthy purchase for hardcore fans even if they owned the originals. It is very clear that DLC for both games is quite literally just post game content cut out at the last minute to be sold for extra 70$, not third version equivalent.
I’d argue they are exactly the same. Cost the same, have the same amount of content, takes just as long to release and makes thr base game feel incomplete without it.
or event Pokemon legit way.
Honestly they should just go ‘you can get them early by limited time event but when game shuts down we will update it so you can get them whenever’ best of both worlds.
That's plenty enough time, resources and in some cases money,
Especially now since the anime releases after the game and is largly disconnected to the plot of the game itself. They could totally spend the 3 year cycle making 2 games that are just complete.

That's where you're wrong. First of all, the third versions offer the original game in it's entirety again, and there is little changes and fixes all around. Even something as simple as changing the trainer sets and what wild Pokemon you encounter make the game worth playing again. Then, there is all the extra content that either wasn't in the original or was there in a very limited form, sometimes including brand new gameplay elements or areas. Third, the story is usually different, and the Legendary Pokemon that was merely an extra encounter gets the spotlight this time around, usually with an improved dungeon and extra sequences. Next, there is massive improvements to battling facilities, Battle Frontier in Gen 3 and 4 for example as well as introduction of Battle Tower in Crystal. Lastly, visuals and performance is usually better in third versions compared to the initial titles, don't make me laugh by telling me that DLC improved the base game in Sw/Sh or S/V any.

DLC for Sw/Sh and S/V are clearly just post game episodes that were cut out, with added quality of life features to give incentive for suckers(by cutting them out of the base game). Just look at the poor excuses for base game post game content in both games with DLC, S/V doesn't even have Battle Tower anymore. People get blindsided by the new Pokemon and stories, but forget they quite literally got all that for free in previous games, even without the third versions(that simply made the post game even flashier or fleshed it out). Imagine if Episode Delta in ORAS or the Looker post game in XY was paid content, or hell the entire Ultra Beast plotline in all versions of Sun/Moon. This is exactly what we're looking at. Don't even get me started on introducing back Pokemon they cut out for no reason to shill the DLC even more, classic "create a problem to sell the solution". Even brand new Legendary Pokemon were not paywalled behind anything, you just needed to be there for an event that anyone could attend, now you need to pay up to get some of these Pokemon.

DLC format simply doesn't work because we already had an alternative that was better for delivering more content and polishing up what was there. Just like Dexit, this is a pure scam that aims to give Gamefreak more shekels at the cost of making everyone's experience worse. I assume they will continue to push the envelope to see just how much money they can charge out of the cattle while putting in as little effort as possible. Just look at Call of Duty, and how they went from having little 2$ personalization packs where you got gunsights and camos for every gun, to bloated 30$ Battle Passes and individual gun skins for one single gun that cost as much as 30-35$ each, on top of demanding 70$ up front for the game itself. This is the destiny of Pokemon at this rate, there is nearly an unlimited amount of ways to monetize the franchise, the only question is "will they let us get away with it?" We didn't have this problem with third versions, you got a brand new game and that was that.

3rd Games suffer the exact same issue you are saying DLC has. Cut contebt that should have been in the base game with qol to make you not think it was held back.

The only benefit to 3rd games offering you the whole game again was until the Switch, if you wanted more than one save you had to get a new game. Thanks to accounts you don’t have to do that any more.

Both DLCs also change the Pokemon you can meet and when. And are all focused on legendaries.

DLC has done exactly what 3rd games do.

The problem honestly was the games weren’t great to begin with. You can’t polish games that were fundamentaly broke.

Which is likely why we have Z as a Legends game where they csn just remake the entire game from scratch.

3rd games have a unique purpose: It's a new game. Pokemon has one savefile, you see, so many people will buy one game to bank their pokemon(extra storage space + transfer between two games with two consoles), one for serious play/campaign, and one for competitive. If you like playing Nuzlocke, you will want to buy an additional copy of the game which you can restart at any time(while banking your old Pokemon). That, combined with the third versions actually being a worthwhile enough purchase on it's own to warrant an entirely new playthru, means that they are not only justified in their existence but they also offer potentially hundreds of hours of extra gametime, just like any other Pokemon title. DLC adds maybe a few hours, at best, and you still need to buy another title to "start a new game" anyways unless you want to delete that savefile, plus any new game will jew you out of another 70$ for both DLC packs. Remember, this is for each copy of the game, if you buy both editions that will net you 140$ for DLCs alone. All for content worth several hours at best and that used to be bundled with every copy of every game for free, you're not getting a brand new title with extra features and a new story like you would with Crystal, Emerald, Platinum or Ultra Games. Even Yellow edition back in the day was a more worthwhile purchase than these scummy DLCs since you still got a new game out of it, despite being a glorified anime show ROMhack.

There is no excuse to give these games DLC on top of already expecting you to pay for Home and other versions of the game, same as there is absolutely no excuse for Dexit. It's all cope. Pokemon fans have to be even dumber than the nigger cattle defending SBMM and 35$ Microtransactions in COD if they really think this is a worthy replacement for Third versions.

So there's no in between period of adopting these trends incrementally? Its either 0 or 100?
"Nudging" is a thing they try to passively (and subconsciously) insert subjects that might be considered normal if they could be considered to abnormal.

We're at a stage, however, where any character with any simultaneous pink and blue accents starts creating lines in the sand. That's how it is with games now, and I'm honestly glad that trailers still exist. They are the only way people can air their grievances at the earliest in the game's cycle whenever they see some bullshit.

I finished an FR/LG livingdex a couple of years ago, and I've been wanting to do one for Hoenn using Emerald, but I cannot get myself to follow through

Team Star is the sorriest excuse for an evil team I have ever seen and the plot twist that "they're not actually bad!" is like the third time in the row Gamefreak used it, if you count Team Skull.
Team Skull was more a group of useful idiots for the Aether Foundation than villains, and in that regard they did pretty well in vanilla SM.
Funny thing is that Team Yell was probably one of the best things about the game.
SwSh did suffer from having a piss-poor villain setup. With tweaking the retarded twins with the fucked up hair could have led a team of their own trying to bring Galarian under their dominion, but they had to stick with a retard panicking about no energy in 1000 years.

Larry was the only good one despite his hair. Poor bastard has to work with incompetent trannies (Rika and Geeta).
Larry's partly a hit because he looks about as fed up with the state of the game as the average fan.
Rika is also popular even in Japan she rank 1st for women's dream character twice.
Rika is more a pretty boy imo than a woman, but it's a solid design. I see them as exceptions proving the rule.

Rika is based on those bishounen but female characters like this sailor moon character.

That why she's popular with Japanese girls.

Its possible the Pokémon company is trying to preempt social media backlash by incorporating the changes seen since Sun&Moon, no longer a primarily white cast, female rival, female elite four champion, large percentage of fat characters, ganes getting easier, body type 1&2 as opposed to the traditional boy & girl.

Eventually these changes continue to snowball. Pokémon is trying to straddle the line between attracting a male and female audience for what was originally a boys brand in the 90's. Nothing is inherently wrong with that but the crowd that wants a queer trans nonbinary sex scene in every game aren't satisfied with anything until they own your company outright. No amount of pandering or throwing them crumbs will ever be enough. You just risk alienating your core audience more which is a dangerous prospect if the next palworld is actually a turn based battle game that actually has potential to take shine off your crown.

Just seems like a dumb thing to be hiring a DEI coordinator and the worst time to be doing it after witnessing the failures of so many games before it that took this route.

Rika I think is a gem of a character among lots of overdesigned characters or designs that look worse in-game than they would in 2D.
No idea who this trend of cluttering up a character design is supposed to appeal to, the latest Fire Emblem has suffered similarly under it.

Rika looks like a character you'd see in the older games ie good. A lot of modern designs suffer from overcomplication, from Fire Emblem to Vtubers to Genshin and other Mihoyo games. The culprit is probably Gacha games like the latter, they clutter up the character/costume design to make the unit or card look more complex and more worthy of spending money on.

Likely. In the time SwSh and SV came out the type of stuff that is popular and watched has changed. It makes sense to to move with the times.

Like conosidering how big Hololive is a vtuber gym leader was a no brainer. Why it was an Electric one and not a Water one was confusing though

The fact that everyone’s response seems to be ‘stick with the old 90s designs’ is rather funny.

The direct opposite would be guys with designs like Grusha. There's probably a couple artists who had to update their art when they finally knew he was a he. That scarf is doing a lot of work, look at the guy's lips!
