I wonder if hydrapple will grow heads with its ability.
Supposedly it does this when it attacks? Not entirely certain, but it is supposed to have more heads according to people. Don't care either way honestly- the design is a bit disappointing, but I don't dislike it so I'm immediately pretty satisfied.

EDIT: Found a pic with its heads out!

EVERY SINGLE TERA RAID. I can't copy them because they're too big for the character limit. Even just the six-stars make the post editor act up.

Stellar-type Terastilization grants a one-time boost to any type of move and vanishes after that. Unless you're in a raid. Then it just lasts forever. It also gives Tera Blast a special effect: if you use Tera Blast while terastilized as a Stellar-type, the move will be super-effective against Terastilized targets and lower both their attacking stats by one level.

Various Pokedex pictures:

Iron Leaves and Walking Wake are completely unencounterable in the DLC. If you didn't get them from the event, you're fucked. Despite this, they are still in the Blueberry Academy Pokedex and necessary to complete it. Thanks, Gamefreak!

Everything is unarchived for now because archive.today seems to be down. I'll try to go back and archive everything after the fact. Images should be fine, at least.

Also, there aren't any real story spoilers in either of these posts, just stats/mon/typings/etc. That's both because I don't want to spoil the plot (I'd like to avoid being shot when it turns out like dogshit) and because there are almost no spoilers out at the moment since everyone is still playing through.

Well my team's ready for The Teal Mask, here's the lineup.
IMG_9719 copy.JPGIMG_9720 copy.JPG
I pretty much made what I planned to do but I added in Sandy Shocks since I liked the idea of bringing in an extremely dangerous Paradox Pokémon to the Blueberry Academy and I added in Fezandipiti (I know, it's a Legendary) since I felt I needed another Sp. Def pivot in the team.
  • Archaludon [Steel/Dragon]
  • Hydrapple
  • Gouging Fire
  • Raging Bolt [Dragon/Electric]
  • Iron Boulder
  • Iron Crown [Steel/Psychic]
  • Terapagos Standard Form / Terapagos Terastal Form / Terapagos Stellar Form
  • Pecharunt
Hydrapple looks amazing compared to Applin's other evolutions. Too bad it's still Grass/Dragon type.

Gouging Fire being based off of a ceratopsian dinosaur was expected but I really like this one, I was expecting GF to go the lazy route and use a triceratops but they decided to go the styracosaur route instead.

Iron Boulder is what I expected it to be, at least it doesn't look as awkward as Terrakion does.

And I called it about the final trailer hinting at a third Terapagos form and it looks like the illustration in the Scarlet/Violet Book. Shame about the Shiny form being unavailable.

Pecharunt is really interesting, I can see what the leaks mention about it being similar to the Tapus. That said the scared expression on its face just makes it look laughable compared to The Loyal Three.

Biomes being upgradable and the starters being locked behind said upgrades was something I expected.

Supercell Slam is interesting but it's another case of GF retooling a previously-seen move, it has the exact same effect as High Jump Kick and its base power is the same as Gen IV High Jump Kick too.

And fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck GF for making the static encounters Shiny-locked, I was hoping to find the Past Paradox Beasts in Shiny form. Oh well, I guess they'll probably end up like the Galarian Bird Trio did and end up as participation prizes for the yearly online VGC tournaments.

Meloetta being the catchable Mythical is a bit of a letdown, I was expecting Genesect.

So 10 minutes into the DLC and I have already headcanoned that my MC hates being here and wants to deck everyone for being beyond annoying…

Christ this is cliche.

And I swear one of the elites was just stolen from an anime in terms of design.

Well whoever said in that the Shiny rate in the Terarium appears to be higher than normal may have been onto something, I just caught this fucker before starting the reaching my first class session.

I noticed they fixed the pokedex notifications for non dlc owners catching dlc Pokémon in online raids. During teal mask I would get notifications for catching them as if I was finishing the kitanami Dex, now I'm not getting them... But I'm still getting the Mons without paying Gamefreak again :smug:

Incineroar got buffed with Temper Fire (and thus avoiding Flare Blitz recoil), regaining Knock Off, and gaining Helping Hand. Look, I already made it clear I think it's a great mon in my eyes, but it was already king in vidya holy jesus christ GF.

Fucking furries.

So I finally got my hands on a physical Platinum cartridge after all these years. What was kinda funny about it was this local game thrift store place has several copies of Platinum, all about 85 bucks each (as just the cartridge itself, this is the cheapest I've seen them). Scalpers ruin fucking everything, but also just how desperate are people that several of them in the area ended up selling Platinum?
I consider myself lucky for getting a legitimate SoulSilver for 40€ (cartridge only obviously), it doesn't always work as the previous owner wasn't the most careful but I've seen cartridges on sale for 100€ so you take what you can get. I once bought a Platinum for 15€ but it was too good to be true, turned out to be a fake.

HOME renders for every new mon:
The new Applin form looked like garbage, but Hydrapple actually looks quite neat. Meanwhile paradox Entei doesn't change as much as the other two and Terrakion looks like it's suffering due to that uncanny metallic frown. And what's the deal with the peach pit?

Every single static encounter is shiny locked because fuck you I guess.
I hate it when they do this shit.

So we meet 3 friends in the vase game and the base plot ends at a perfect point where going on a trip would be great.

First DLC is a trip without those 3 friends and pairs you with randos. You meet a 4th Friend and her brother goes on a power trip in Second DLC

Second DLC requires you to have completed first DLC and base and sends you to a school where everything is Double Battles and it seems each member of the E4 has the same type of personality as 1 of your 4 friends.

Why aren’t the Double Battles in each area and against the E4 member with a specific friend depending on the area? Cullminating in a Solo 2 v 2 against Orge Kid?

Things had been this way since Legends Arceus at least. I started to feel that I could get a shiny Pokémon because I just ate a grape!

Apparently it's the new mythical. There's data to encounter it within the game and even an event tied to it, but no concrete method like with most legendaries. Also it has the mythical "dogshit stat distribution meant to harken back to Mew" problem.

Orge Boy: I think we are reying too much on the MC to do all the work

And in base game the companions you were with were helpful. Oh and did not need to be brought up to speed every five seconds.

Lampshading how useless the group of 3 new buddies is does not excuse the fact that for some reason the game decided not to have the base trio back for this portion. Despite Geeta saying it would be dangerous, knowing we did this before oh and none of them being voiced so it’s not like they couldn’t have come back…

When I am agreeing with the kid that deserves to have their head dunked in a toilet and the game is saying they are being unreasonable…plot has issues

My biggest gripe with Indigo Disc? “Oh, we have a game that can barely run at the best of times? Let’s make a constantly snowing Area that runs absolutely horribly!”

Like who’s bright fucking idea was that? Nevermind the framerate plummeting for me when I dared to go in the water, that area of the map just runs noticeably worse than the rest of the DLC. Which considering what it’s built on, is honestly more impressive. If I actually paid for the DLC Pass I’d be much more annoyed.

Even the ending credits is just a worse version of the base game.

And I really feel like Gem Turtle did not get enough lore. Which, for a whole game and two DLC building to it, is beyond impressive.

I think the whole "Terarium's Shiny rate is higher" bit may just be a red herring, unless I missed on a Shiny Deerling/Sawsbuck/Minior I haven't seen another Shiny until just a few minutes ago (said Shiny was a Torkoal).

I get wanting to see more of Arven, Penny, and Nemona but it's pretty clear they're busy doing other things during your time in Kitakami and at the Blueberry Academy (Nemona's managing the Academy Ace Tournament with the staff, Penny's working with the Pokémon League and keeping an eye on Team Star, and Arven honestly needs a break after going through the emotional roller coaster that was The Way Home). Also, remember that the leaks say that they're going to be in the epilogue to The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, something that's been confirmed via The Indigo Disk via people datamining the DLC.
As to when we'll get it I have a feeling it'll either be released on or before February 27th (Pokémon Day, it's also the day SV's official soundtracks drop) or at another point after that to coincide with the rumored Pokémon movie.
That is a reference to the legend of Momotaro, who was born out of a peach. Momotaro's companions are a dog (Okidogi), a monkey (Munkidori), and a pheasant (Fezandipiti).

I also remember that apple pits and either apricot or peach pits have the makings of cyanide.
All three produce amygdalin (a cyanogenic glycoside) in their seeds/pits as a self-defense mechanism but the amounts present peach pits and apple seeds aren't toxic to people unless you eat a shitload of apple seeds. Now other members of the Prunus genus like bitter almonds are another story.

Funny that: I looked up the Wikipedia rticle of peaches soon after I posted that comment and found the same facts.
I still say tha the reference to cyanide is deliberate, even if you have to ea tonnes of peach pits before things ge toxic.

@Archeops

It’s less wanting to see them again and more the DLC feels like they should have been in it - from Part 1 just having you join with 3 rando classmates, part 2 having you go down to area zero with a trio - brining up how much worse they are than Penny et al in usefulness - BB E4 matching them also perfectly in character and the entire section being doubled.

I feels like everything was designed with them in mind and then got changed which is frustrating.

Especially when what we got ends up being a discount retred of the base game anyways.
