American region are unironically whiter than the Euro ones, which makes this hilarious. If you count Orre, I think there is literally only one in the entire region and he's in an optional side area.
Editing a sprite sheet is banal anyways if you have the right tools, so it's not like you can't edit out the nigger. Ditto with textboxes, gender select screen might be harder, and there is probably more pozz waiting for the players.
Not worth it, imo. At this point, I would rather just play BW1 or 2 again, or one of it's romhacks. I think I heard of one that basically remakes Gold/Silver in that engine, so if it's out there, that's all you really need.
Oh, no. I am capable, especially after tha time hacking pokegold.
The source is open, too. I can simply recompile a 'de-woked' version. I can find any woke bits further along the line.
I a more thinking if I could be bothered.

I looked thru some really old folders of mine, and I actually found some images posted during the Phoenix Rising debacle. This includes a very low res thumbnail of the very much coveted "Youngster Zoey Shadman.jpg". in one of them. These should give you the idea of how these threads went down on /vp/:

I always found her Platinum team to be harder, and even then the main reason I'd fail against her was because my team was just a poor match. She's as easy as any other champion and her "hardest boss evar!1!!!1" reputation is severely overblown by sinnohfetuses.

I found her harder in DPP just because there isn't as much variety in encounters as there is in platinum and the level curve is slightly lower/there are not as many options for leveling up unless you go out of your way. Had the most vanilla team in pearl and won via item spam the first time I beat her.
BDSP was hardest but you could cheese her whole team with Weavile, that didn't work in the original games.

if game freak want to save their garbage franchise, they should copy SMT like they did when they made the first game. and by copy i mean rip the mechanics and gameplay from new SMT games and then dumb it down for babies (this was how the pokemon rpg games were born)

And add the dating elements from Persona

It's also how the Pokemon RPG games became shitty.
Not saying Pokemon games have to be ballbustingly hard or anything. Just stop holding the player's hand throughout the entire fucking game.
yep. they suck. its time for everyone to move on finally, grow up and play JRPGS that arent terrible, of which there are many

Save their franchise from what exactly?

Because unfortunately, it isn't financial ruin.

from being terrible. obviously people love slop and will continue to consume slop in the future, but where does that end? if you have any faith in humanity, there will eventually be a competitor who will steal their market.
There was that one game that people were looking forward to, forgot the name but it was ancap pokemon with guns. Shame it never got off the ground, and apparently the community/dev team is full of troons too, welp.

Unfortunately, the attempts that have tried have all either bombed, or otherwise failed to so much as gently nudge the table so Game Freak hasn’t paid attention to them.

Game Freak has this market on lock, because nothing really scratches the itch quite like Pokémon - and it’s been a disaster for Game Freak more than anything else. The problem is, for anything to actually manage to steal the market, they would have to quite frankly recapture the lightning in a bottle that started this series.

There's faith and then there's delusion. Like or hate the franchise, it has over 25 years of dedication and a worldwide spread under its belt and is the most profitable media franchise on the planet. The chances of some unknown company swooping in and stealing the throne is essentially zero, no matter how good these theoretical games or franchises might be. The only way Pokémon is gonna go away is if the entire company shuts down for some reason.

That's wrong, during Sun/Moon era Gamefreak legit saw Yokai Watch as a competitor. That didn't amount to anything, but it did influence that era of games, for example RotomDex and the Rotom Phone in every game going forward.
BTW Yokai Watch video game is pretty cool, it's pretty much exactly like pokemon but without the branding. I would give it a go if you're looking for alternatives.

Bullshit, and the only part of your post I completely disagree with.

The two are quite similar, but they're really not the same. The most they have in common is catching magical creatures in an RPG and some base elements like a max party of six (not exclusive to Pokémon), being of Japanese origin, being tailored to kids and having a bird's-eye view for the camera (which they've ditched since 4).

Every Yo-Kai game is not turn-based; it's an auto-battler where, in any given battle, all you have to do is command three of your Yo-Kai at a time to target specific creatures by throwing a single pin on one while catching floating orbs that come across the screen every second or two.

If you're not doing that, you're paying attention to the bottom screen to do a dumb touchscreen minigame to supercharge their ultimate move or save them from the effects of an opponent's.

If you're not doing that, you're shuffling through your inventory to heal a member or try and entice an opponent to join your team (which has a very very high chance to fail until the late game).

Note that you're doing all this while your entire party will not shut the fuck up and stop screaming any given member's catchphrase every single time it makes an attack or gets injured.

It's a lot more fast-paced, with minimal involvement from you in terms of actual attacking (save for special moves or inspiriting) and a lot more emphasis on reflexes and team-related buffs.

Also worth noting is that Yo-Kai has a much cornier tone, and the monster designs follow suit. I think there's maybe like 20 "serious" monster designs in the entire franchise, and probably half of those are Jibanyan reskins.

I could go into more gameplay differences here, and I kind of want to, but I don't want to go on another autistic ramble like before and I haven't played through the YKW games nearly as much as I have any Pokémon title so it'd be harder to draw proper comparison between the two. Just know that the two series are very different, even if they don't appear to be on the surface, and that a fair amount of the similarities between them often come from Pokémon adopting them after Yo-Kai's release.

The entire YKW fever that hit Japan a few years back sent GF into such a panic that it's a miracle the entire company didn't implode right then and there. Probably didn't help that the whole fad struck just as so much stuff was changing hands at GF (lol Masuda -> Ohmori).
If Level-5 hadn't driven YKW into the ground so quickly, maybe that panic could've actually lasted and kept GF on their toes...
