No words. Just no words.

There was a massive improvement in animation/fight scenes along with better storytelling. So people started actually caring again. Plus the 20 year anniversary, so people thought Ash had a chance to win this time.

Technically this anime news, but whatever.

So yesterday, the Pokemon episode that aired featured Ash losing in the final round of the Kalos League to Alain. People are actually really pissed, because not only did Ash lose again, he was all but set up to win this time (had a pseudo-legendary in the form of Goodra, his Greninja got an upgrade that made it OP as fuck, Talonflame, Noivern, and Hawluncha are all powerful fighters, and Pikachu is Pikachu; not to mention that it seems like Alola won't have a regular Pokemon League so this would be a good opportunity for Ash to finally win a league). And he lost to Mega Charizard X anyway.

People are fucking pissed. Just look at the like/dislike ratio for the next episode trailer:

You can barely even see the like bar. The ratio is also shockingly high compared to other widely hated trailers. Also, here's an article covering some of the backlash.
If you think that's bad, I read that even some of the animators think that Ash should've won the match too. 2ch was pissed about it that it managed to get 5k posts in an hour. I could go on more but this is probably the biggest outrage to Ash's loss.

Also, the video is now at 50k dislikes and even Ghostbusters 2016 trailer's like/dislike ratio is better than it. :story:

I've heard the same too. You can tell like with how the animation of the second half of the finals is not as polished or impressive as the semi-finals match. Their hearts weren't into it because Ash had to lose again.

To go further into it, here's some which I found:

https://twitter.com/aoshi11/status/766241482881638400 (Animator saying that Ash should have won)
There's other tweets from other animators saying that Ash should have won. To have workers from your own company say that you've fucked up is apparently a serious thing in Japan. The Chinese are pissed off too. /vp/ is always cynical as is 4Chan in general, but there are plenty of angry Anons. Reddit's rage is much worse, and they have a hate boner for Alan. Though the Nips on Twitter seemed humble but don't let that facade fool you. 2ch was pretty damn mad and hostile, and 2ch is far more influential than 4Chan when it comes to these sort of thing. They must be the angriest of them all especially when that controversial Bleach ending came out on the same week.

The NEET Spics had the most lukewarm reaction and are damage controlling, but the normies among them were mad too. They say that they could find another audience of kids who will eat this shit up, but they say this without keeping Japan's declining birthrate in mind. The kids who watched XYZ are the same ones who grew up with BW and late-DP. There is no other group of Japanese kids to watch this shit.

This is easily the most angriest people have ever been about Ash losing a league. They've essentially toyed with the fandom's expectations, and SIX league losses in a row is too much.

That's insane. The backlash is even bigger than it was when Ash lost the Sinnoh League, and that loss involved a character we'd never fucking heard of before throwing out Legendaries like it was nothing.

But really, it all boils down to the fact that Ash really was set up to win this time. Everything was stacked in his favor (and even some promotional materials seemed to hint towards his victory) but he still lost because Alain's Charizard was wearing plot armor. You know, Pokemon is like the only show I can think of that never lets its protagonists win anything big. Ash never wins a League, May and Dawn never won their Contest tournaments, and Serena lost her chance to become Kalos Queen. I mean, at least the girls have an excuse (they were still rookies and all) but Ash has like 48 badges at this point, he's not exactly a newbie when it comes to Pokemon battling.

I got to say, I'm really liking the new pokemon designs. Although I'm still waiting for this generation's Trubbish.
Correct me if this is supposed to be a positive response in hopes for an equally absurd yet well designed Pokemon.

I really don't get the hate for Trubbish and Garbador (Garbs is my favorite Pokemon  ) as well as Vanillish's evolution line. The possessed sandcastle is already getting hate too. I really don't get why all the unique ones get so much hate. They're funny and designed well.

The Arceus event only has a few days left so if you haven't gotten it yet make sure to do it soon.

Talking about event Pokemon if you're in Europe or Australia you can get a Meowth with Happy Hour, you go to Recieve Pokemon and enter the code HAPPY, for a complete walkthrough:

100% agree. I love those Pokemon! Klefki? FAIRY KEYS OF DOOM I AIN'T EVEN MAD

Wow, the butthurt was strong with that episode. I suppose I can understand why, though. Ash really is the ultimate protagonist loser, it's kinda underwhelming to see him lose league after league when he's supposed to be a fucking pro at this point.

I guess everytime he reaches a league and moves on to a new region his reality gets reset and he starts his Pokemon journey as if he were a novice, with the exception of Pikachu the Reality-Breaker.

As for the discussion around people hating "object" Pokemon so much, I think it's sort of understandable too. I'd guess people are more inclined to feel sympathy for living beings like animals rather than (animated) objects; there's also Uncanny Valley, too.

Personally, I have nothing against "object" Pokemon. I really like the idea, to be honest, because it reminds me of youkai and other eastern folkloric entities; many of those monsters were terrifying because they didn't really draw from living beings, but rather from things and objects, and that added a layer of unconfortable strangeness to them. Pokemon are supposed to be "monsters", anyway.

I don't really like Vanillish/Vanillite and Trubbish/Garbodor because they look like retards (like, seriously). However, I'm really digging Sandygast and Palossand and their accompanying official images.

As far as other revealed Pokemon and Alola forms are concerned, I don't have much to say. I don't like Alola Raichu's design so much but I did appreciate where they got the idea from. The four different Oricorio are a pretty neat concept with clever design, and I wish they get evolutions. I really dig this guy too, both origin and execution. I actually do like Turtonator, although the extreme geometrical design is pretty much the main reason why I dislike Druddigon, so I can't explain why I prefer this fellow over the other dragon.

People who bitch about the "object" Pokémon are just a gang of Genwunner dumbasses. They have no problem with Voltorb and it's literally just a Pokéball, so they're just full of shit tbh. "The new designs are lazy!!" Like 80% of Gen 1 says hi! Charizard is a red lizard! Gastly is an angry circle with purple smog! Grimer is a pile of mud!

The Vanillish line is one of my favorite Pokemon. I really like the absurd designs even though most of them I end up never using.

Funnily enough despite all these hate for the object Pokemon, I don't see much hate in the Cotton Candy one and they seem to get more love than the other notorious object ones.

I won't let anyone talk shit on Boo Boo Keys

For me it's like this weird phenomenon where I see a new pokemon I say "meh" and then it starts to grow on me. Unless of course it's amazing from the first second I see it a la Goomy

Object-based Pokémon like Chandelure and Aegislash are really popular, at least. I never quite understood the argument a Pokémon should have never been made; if you don't like it, then there are over 700 other choices out there.

By the way, anyone want an adamant Charmander with Dragon Dance? His IVs are flawless excepting his Special Attack. I can breed more of 'em if more than one person wants a 'mon.
