Serebii got some new stuff from CoroCoro, including new Poke'mon and new Alola Forms

I wonder if Marowak's Alola form will have similar stats to its regular version? A physical Ghost/Fire type could be really interesting to see. I don't expect Dark-type Meowth to be much different from regular Meowth.

I'm hoping Alolan Meowth will get a little bit of a stat boost and an Alolan Persian evolution (I've seen some people uncertain if they will; I guess in the Japanese trailer revealing Alolan Exeggutor, it evolved from a regular Exeggcute and so think not every Alolan Poke'mon is going to have a full Alolan-form line). It would be cool to see a more physical-using Ghost Poke'mon, since most of them are special, and maybe with it's typing the sand castle one will have some bulk to it.

Can't say how I feel about Ghost/Ground typing, though. Kinda opens it up to a lot of weaknesses and might make any bulkiness moot without a good ability.

I doubt that there isn't an Alolan Persian. It makes sense for a regular Exeggcute to turn into an Alolan Exeggutor if it evolves in Alola, but wouldn't make sense for an Alolan Meowth to become a regular Persian.

A haunted sandcastle is an awesome, adorable idea. Same with the school of fish; I'm glad so many of these pokemon seem to be bringing a lot of new abilities or type combos to the dex. And God help us all if Alolan Marowak keeps Rock Head and gets Flare Blitz.

Also, something pretty neat I saw on /vp/ regarding Alolan Meowth:

As you probably know, Meowth is based on maneki neko, Japanese lucky cat figurines with a raised paw that invites fortune and other forms of good luck depending on color.

Alolan Meowth is gray. Gray or black maneki neko are supposed to ward off evil spirits and grant protection to the owner. It also has both of its paws lowered. This could be taken to suggest that it does the opposite -- it invites evil spirits.

In other words, it's an unlucky cat figurine. The Alolan royal family bred a lucky cat so much it turned into an unlucky cat.

True, but there are some Poke'mon spergs out there who would believe an Alolan Meowth will evolve into a regular Persian. I'm not sure why, but then again every fandom has it's special little guys in it.

I haven't heard that yet (then again I don't look at /vp/) and only heard comments about Alolan Meowth being like a russian blue or something similar. But that's an interesting tid-bit! Would fit right in with the Dark typing that's for sure.

Another new Pokemon generation... ah more Psychic Legendary Pokemon - because there aren't enough of those already. Another generation with no legendary Poison Pokemon.
 
cuz poisonous animals arent exactly amazing and legendary in irl terms unlike things that have mind control lol
 
Aside from the new Pokemon and Alola Forms, we also got our first look at the new evil team: Team Skull. The leader is named Guzma and the girl is Plumeri (from Serebii):

I was really hoping we could finally have a female team leader... *sigh* Oh well, maybe Plumeri will have a big role (at the very least she's probably an admin). So far there's no information on what Team Skull's motivations and goals are.
