You know the name 'soylent" comes from the 1973 movie "Soylent Green", right? That up until some bugmen used it as the name for their nasty-ass soy drink, most people thought of weird cannibal shit.
Still not as disgusting as guzzling down estrogenic wallpaper paste.
I feel your pain but it's also helpful to remember a bunch of children are playing a children's game.

What annoys me worse is people bringing obviously purchased hacked Azumarill's (which are always shiny) to every single tera raid because they were useful for one and they can't use mom's credit card to buy anything else. So they use belly drum and are one shot. I play support and even with reflect/lightscreen active and me trying to heal them this is the case.

It would be helpful if the developers didn't make the games so painfully easy, it's not like children won't use their brains just a lil bit to beat it.
According to Masuda and Ohmori they will probably turn back to watching tiktok if they don't always win first try.

I don't know why some people keep claiming that there's a good chance for Kalos DLC in Scarlet and Violet. The only reason I could find is rationalizing real life geography based on what Kalos and Paldea are inspired by (France and Spain/Iberian Peninsula respectively). But that's odd because the real world means nothing to the Pokemon world. Like, Unova is based on the U.S (New York especially) and Alola is based on Hawaii, a U.S state, yet Alola is not a territory of Unova. The former actually has more ties to Kanto (based on a region of Japan).

It still baffled me to see that the only mainline game that had some semblance of an "easy/hard mode" was in Black 2/White 2. But the game went out of their way to make obtaining the keys (?) required to unlock the modes hard. Like, you couldn't select a mode from the start and had to beat the game and trade it to the opposite game iirc. Almost like the developers didn't actually to implement this "challenge" mode at all.

Yeah, I genuinely don't understand the people who seem to think beyond a shadow of a doubt "the DLC is Kalos". There is no official artwork of the world and the placements of each region to prove it, like literally that's all it would take to make a solid claim, and they don't even have that.

Also, if it's Kalos as DLC, that means they would be expected to bring Mega's back. From the prospect of game design, why would you do that when you just introduced a new "super form" gimmick this generation?

There's also the possibility that GF could make a Kalos DLC without them. They did that when ORAS didn't include the Battle Frontier, and when BDSP didn't include Platinum's QOL changes.

ackchually, the hard mode in bw2 is easier than the normal mode.
FlygonHG accidentely discovered this, enemy levels get increased but the stats somehow stay the same. Maybe on purpose, maybe a programming error.

Fair point, but that also raises the point for the DLC not being Kalos. Everything you noted is a remake, why would they do Kalos DLC when at the current rate they're cranking out games, gen 6 remakes are like 4-6 years away? GF doesn't strike me as the type of company to take $30 for something they could sell for $60 later.

I highly suspect something more along the lines of the SW/SH DLC, something still "in region" to introduce more merchan-- Pokemon, but not so far from the region that you got people asking questions.

My money is on any future DLC being in an expanded version of the crater. Oh no the time machine is being wacky and is spitting out new pokemon, swipe your mom's credit card to dab on Arven's storyline

Honestly the crater is a pretty good way to go for expansion sake, still got that one door that won't open but definitely seems like it will eventually. Plus the "time machine" is pretty good excuse to release even more Paradox Pokemon.

"Oh it suddenly activated on its own, now there's 12 or so new species we've never seen from random time periods and like an additional 100 Pokemon species from around the world now in Paldea, also something something Arven's parents mystery is involved too."

I'm going to be irritated if they never do anything with that mountain range so many claim is "Kalos". It being completely unclimbable and the way it's shown on the map just screams "we're going to put something over here eventually". I've been able to get inside it thanks to the "fast fly" glitch, but GF have learned their lesson about scrubbing anything they want kept a secret from the game till they release it, as there's nothing of note there.

I'm now at Route 119, beat the Magma Grunts and obtained Mega Latias.

My team looks like this.

Magnemite Lv. 25 in training
Grumpig Lv. 32
Cacturne Lv. 32
Camerupt Lv. 33
Swellow Lv. 33
Marshtomp Lv. 34

Machop died to Numels Lava Plume crit in the Double Battle versus Tabitha,
because May kept being dumb, using Fury Cutter instead of just going for Leaf Blade.
Maxie nearly took out my Swellow and Skarmory thanks to confusion haxx and Skarmorys attack being too low to deal with Golbat.
Zangoose finished it off tho.
Secret MVP is Graveler who carried me through the Gyms 3-5 with a combination of Power-Up Punch, Rollout, Defense Curl and Rock Polish, while the rest of my party was still pretty weak stat-wise due to being unevolved.
I'm unhappy with Grumpig, it misses out on OHKOs it needs to be a reliable member of the team and has a disadvantage against the E4.

Before I go to the list of items, I should mention that I am planing on using PokeGold instead of PokeCrystal in my hack because of the compatibility of the Super Game Boy. That device fascinates me, especially when others manage to daisy-chain MSU-1 support. After weighing the advantages of each, I am only really going to miss the gender option. Almost everything else is moot after t heavy hacking: location graphics, Pokémon locations, and stories in Johto are not going to apply in Paldea, whereas there are no Apricorns in Paldea, either.

I didn’t know people were buying Azus. I did happen on a shiny azurill on accident and raised it up on candies and protein shakes and bottle caps. I was lucky but it’s perfectly replicable. The idea of buying pokemon when you can literally catch any of them for free with little effort is fucking wild; it’s not like you’ve spent 60 hours trying to farm Stones of Jordan and those ad bots are starting to sound more convincing every minute

So, Greninja’s the next 7 Star Raid Pokémon. Poison Type, so at least that’s kinda on theme for being a Ninja?

Yeah watching dipshits bring “totally legit” Azu’s to this one not realizing that Posion beats Fairy is going to be amusing, and get old REALLY fast.
Grumpig is the Hypno of Hoenn. No real niche as everything it can do another Pokémon can do better. At least Hypno had hypnosis over Alakazam Grumpig has...Teeter dance over Gardevoir?
Grumpig also had the disadvantage due to Gardevoir being arguably the first proper Waifu Pokémon. The designers knew exactly what they were doing when they made Gardevoir, no other Psychic type in Gen 3 had a chance

Also I know someone’ll argue Jynx was the first Waifu Pokémon, and someone will be completely unironic about that. I’m more surprised that people haven’t tried to cancel Jynx - is that why she hasn’t been in a Switch game, Game Freak just not wanting the headache of “why’s this Pokémon in Blackface!”?

Jynx is fun imo and I'm not shitposting when I say that. Ah may jok roun fuh da whyt folk roun hya o lawd chille.....but I always found her genuinely interesting as an ice/psychic hybrid. Also I like her design. The purple works better for her too. I still think she's based on the yamma uba ladies of Japanese myth mixed with the gangoro trend.

Where have you been? That little controversy happened ages ago. Why do you think her skin color was changed from black to purple?

That IS what her design is based on. It's skin color was made purple because people mistook Jynx for blackface.

Wait fuck, I missed that? Goddamnit

There’s occasional downsides to not giving a shit about Twitter - I miss funny shit like that…. That said, people in general are stupid enough I’d fully expect them to retread this “outrage”

We talked about this earlier in the thread, but the tl;dr is that Jynx' design is based on a lot of unrelated things that all work surprising well together while aditionally having small details that lead to a very interesting, and creative design. Unfortunately, it's one of those small creative details that unintentionally ended up being a problem.

She's supposed to be based on gangoro, yamma uba, yuki onna, and the Nordic goddess, Hel. The all-black face was not an accident, although it wasn't supposed to represent racial blackface at all. The intention was to show that Jynx does not actually have physical body, but is instead supposed to be an entity possessing earthly objects like wigs to disguise that fact.

This is why Jynx does not have footprints, and why it fades away leaving only its blonde hair when it faints in the Stadium games.
Unfortunately, the design does look a lot like a racial stereotype, so they had to change it. It's one of those shitty coincidences that just happen sometimes in the industry. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Despite all this, the design still works as Hel is described as having bluish-purple frost-bitten skin. The only downside was that the hidden meaning of the design was lost, and much like Porygon, Jynx has been virtually abandoned by GF because of the controversy.

It wasn't even that recent. This happened way back in the 1990's if I recall.

I'd rather have the pedophile tapir on my team than Grumpig. He's got better utility, is bulkier and can make use of his attack stat.
I mean 45 ATK on Grumpig and no Psychic until Level 52 (the tm is in victory road), but Zen Headbutt instead. You're basically stuck with psybeam.
See, it's Power Gem missed out a kill on a fucking Swellow, has to be a really bad SpAtk IV.

and Uri geller Kadabra too.

One of Cancel cultures earliest victims.

That explains a lot.

I haven't encountered any Azumarril's on the Greninja raids I've been on. Indeed, the reason why I managed to catch mine is because because my partners weren't retards and my Gastrodon could tank Greninja's hits. One of them brought a Toxicroak which was genius since A) it has the Dry Skin ability, B) is resistant or neutral to Greninja's attacks, and C) learns Swords Dance and Earthquake.

I got some satisfaction using Mud Slap, which probably helped too.
