I definitely got evil vibes from her. The obsession with the treasures of ruin doesn't help her case.
Playing on Scarlet makes her sound even more evil, considering how obsessed she is with history over the present when you know what’s going on in Area Zero.

But yeah, she encourages you to unseal and free the Pokémon of Ruin, and then when you come back and tell her you caught them all, she says she wanted to catch them and control them herself but them being under your(the player’s) control will do for now.

That’s not a criticism either, I actually like the idea of one of the teachers actually using you for their own purposes.

Just popping in here to say thank fuck they're finally retiring Ash from the anime series. This is what the Pokemon Company should've done a long time ago, make new protagonists specific to their regions. While I'm sure this probably won't fix or make the anime any "better," I'm glad Ash can finally rest easy knowing what he's accomplished over the show.

The next 7-Star Tera Raid event will be Fighting-type Cinderace, lasting from Dec 31–Jan 1 and returning for Jan 13–Jan 15.

Just what we all wanted, right?

There's also going to be an event for Delibird from Dec 23–25 (1–5 stars, various types).

After one of the other farmers started posting their Nuzlocke progress I figured I'd jump back in, figure out emulation on my phone, and have some fun. I've always used a custom ruleset revolving around Premier Balls and making managing your money and inventory more impactful. I've also taken the rare candy pill cause grinding is boring.

The Premier Locke
1.) Standard first encounter per route, dupes don't count, Shinies are free game
2.) Challenge doesn't start until I've acquired my first Premier Ball
3.) Not allowed to use basic bitch Pokeballs
4.) To purchase any other balls I must first buy at least 10 Pokeballs which I will subsequently sell. (I've tried tossing the excess and it was too restrictive especially in the early game)
5.) Can only use each PokeCenter once
6.) Can not grind on wild Pokemon, but any time I catch a new one or pull it out of the box for the first time I can use hacked rare candies to bring them up to the lowest level of the Pokemon in my party
7.) If any of my Pokemon are a higher level than the next gym leader's Ace they must be boxed for that battle
8.) Right before a Gym Leader I can use hacked rare candies to bring any stragglers up to their lowest leveled 'mon.
9.) A full wipe is a loss.

I've been playing Emerald and here are some things that I've noticed with this ruleset.

The battle against the rival under the bike path is fucking brutal and while I rarely wipe, I almost always lose someone at this point.

Watson has walled most of my non Mudkip runs because of his Magneton. I've looked up how the Game Corner works and with this ruleset getting Flamethrower to deal with him isn't feasible given the $80,000 cost. I need that money for soda pop and I don't want to grind at the roulette wheel for hours upon hours to get it. If it was Voltorb Flip, maybe, but not Roulette.

Norman is terrifying, but I've only fought him once so far. I think a good strategy is going to be to coddle a Dustox up till that point since it learns Protect by Level Up.

Pokemon Emerald, obviously 💚

If you think you'll want to play the whole series, start there and move forward because it's easier to gain QoL features than go backwards.
It's so funny to me how they went in with the mindset of "okay we'll release two games first, probably not the best but it's good enough for now. Then in a year's time we'll release a third game in the same Gen which contains a mix of exclusives from the first two games, a lot of QoL fixes and improvements such as better animations and whatnot. It's Ingenius!" Before realizing "Oh shit, having some exclusives in the same game defeats the purpose of producing two games, SHUT IT DOWN!" Starting with Crystal (or perhaps Yellow) and ending with Platinum (tho games like Ultra Sun and Moon definitely fit the "release the same game but kinda better" point.)

I got extremely lucky recently and encountered two Shinies within an hour of each other, the first was a Silicobra that I only noticed was Shiny after noticing its eyes weren't the usual green color (I blame my initial skepticism on it being night when I found it, the lighting makes it barely noticeable than a regular one) and the second one was another Hoppip that spawned while a thunderstorm was raging in the area and blasting other Hoppip into oblivion.

Oh, and on the topic of the anime I've honestly lost any sort of interest in it after Gen 3's movies (more specifically Jirachi - Wish Maker and Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea) so Ash's time in show coming to an end and a reboot-of-sorts coming soon doesn't really effect me all that much.
My only complaint? I wish it had the catching system of PLA, but mostly, I want the fucking shiny jingle to alert you of shinies back. Because now it's me having to stop every 20 steps and look at a Pokemon and try to fucking determine if it's a slightly different shade or not.
Whenever I hear people complain about the loss of PLA-style catching I always remind myself that they're essentially in the same camp as the fans that whinge and complain about the loss of Megas, Z Moves, LGPE-style catching (yes, I HAVE heard people complain about this), and similar gameplay "gimmicks" that set each game and Gen apart from the rest outside of the Pokémon themselves. You'll get these "gimmicks" in other games that share the same style but expecting them to be added to the main line games is a crapshoot.

I will agree that the loss of PLA's overworld Shiny SFX/VFX combo is an absolute travesty, the lack of one makes it extremely difficult to find Shinies of some of the newer Pokémon and I genuinely hope that it comes back in a future patch.

To be fair Cinderace was chosen due to 2023 being the Year of the Rabbit, it’s even mentioned on the Raid event’s Poké Portal News article. I am mildly disappointed with

Agreed. I much preferred the catching mechanics of PLA, but it was a crucial part of what made that game special.

Incidentally, they'd better make another 'Legends' game. It would be such a waste not to.

True. I actually didn't notice that until after I'd posted. It is still a bit disappointing, though. I was hoping the next one would be more exciting than yet another Charizard event.

The latest pocketmons game I got is Alpha Sapphire, so shinies are still rare to me.

I've been playing the games on and off since the time Gen 1 was new, and I've only seen a wild shiny - that wasn't the Red Gyarados - only once or twice: a green Zubat.
the only time I ever saw a shiny without consciously looking for one was a shiny blue gastly in the memorial tower by solaceon town when I was a kid. Obviously I caught it but since gengar is a trade only evolution, it sat in my PC ever since

It's definitely a case where I'm annoyed that GameFreak hasn't jumped on the accessibility bandwagon like, at all. Like ffs you'd think a game aimed for small children would have voice acting by now but here we are. I've seen plenty complaints from colorblind players or legally blind players about the lack of extra visual cue or sound cue and even taking away options like being able to switch to "set" mode arguably makes a game less accessible. The small amount of players who have mobility or dexterity problems now have to input extra button presses 🙃🙃

Anyway you probably know this but for shinies the best way not to miss them is to throw out a Pokémon in "Let's Go" mode because they'll refuse to fight the shiny ✨💖✨

I have no idea why they decided to throw out all the good things US/UM did. It was the perfect generation with the GTN being accessible to everyone and 90% of the pokemon being actually obtainable in 1 version of the game. They even threw in a second cosmog for Lunala/Solgaleo and they were the last cool box art legendaries in their own right.

Though it will never not be funny that I somehow caught Solgaleo at the start of the battle with 100% HP with a single premier ball.

It appears to have taken the Prankster support role that Whimsicott would fill in previous generations of VGC, since Whimsicott is not available in S/V. The fact that Murkrow can benefit from Eviolite (since Honchkrow gets Moxie instead) also helps.
It is a pretty cool interaction and I am a Murkrow fan tbf. I am just very partial towards Rain this gen so I can't fit another flying type with Pelipper and Kilowattrel

I'm glad they didn't cripple their game for the fraction of a percent of the audience that is crippled themselves. Get that God of War shit outta here.

Do you perhaps need me to compensate for a disability like dyslexia or irlen syndrome that would help with your reading comprehension to help you understand the whole post rather than fixating on one word? I can happily change the color or font for you.

Bringing back options and features from earlier games and adding voice acting is not going to cripple the game, now that I'm thinking about it I wish they'd bring back L=A as well which is another accessibility feature for people with only one hand. I don't specifically know God of War but I'm generally pro-accessibility *options*, particularly subtitles and screen readers. I'm sorry the existence of menus you can completely ignore offends you so much.

God I'm so fucking glad they don't have voice acting. You being pissy about it only makes me gladder.

Whp else never noticed that all past Paradoxes have yellow eyes and a tail?

Slither Wing's fatty dino tail is so cute.

They should've chosen Azumarill so we could all get a taste of our own medicine. Maybe Diggersby, even...

Also, while I loved the speed and satisfying *thwock!* of PLA catching mechanics, I'm a little glad they went with a hybrid of being able to catch something off guard but still having to put a little work in. I filled my PLA boxes with so much trash it's unbelievable; if I'd kept playing long after the Mass Outbreak update, they'd be bursting at the seams.

I don't really give a shit about accessibility options, but I sorta wish they'd bring back Catching Contests, the daycare, secret bases, rumors, a national dex with postgame expansion, contests (even if poffins are tedious), fossils, VS Seeker, the Area Dex, the Safari Zone, medals, Easy/Hard Mode, dark locations, berry farming, the fucking Battle Frontier/Subway/Maison/Tree/literally any challenge for testing your highest level lads and teambuilding skill against at all, the GTS, Supertraining, the PokeGear or whatever they called it in Gen V, rotation battles, battles royale, and Shuckle.
