Anyone else think Scarlet and Violet's lore seems awfully familiar to Hunter X Hunter's Dark Continent?

Of age or not, blathering about which characters in a children's game you'd bang is super autistic and worthy of mockery.
Hey, don't look at me. The only reason why I was even paying attention to Grusha was because I had already heard people talking about how all the previous generations had hotter gym leaders

I bring good tidings of YouTube links. Shiny catching has been broken by the update to the point of 2-5 minutes to manipulate a shiny with picnics and the pop in of Pokémon due to hardware limitations.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=cmVVbEcohhkItem duping still exists if you still have cloned ride Pokémon from the previous version.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=FMYwZPCy9KwI fully expect a 1.1.0 duping glitch to be discovered as people continue to try different combinations of glitching. If its still possible if you have the duped Pokémon its a matter of time before a solely 1.1.0 reliant method is discovered.

I booted up one switch and loaded the 1.0.1 version before patch, I installed the 1.1.0 on another. Still have not played a second of the games buy its been fun just to keep up with news of it.
Nothing against you, but that first video is utterly useless. 8 minutes to say "use a sandwich with Lvl 3 Sparkling in an area you can manipulate only your target to spawn". Fucking cunt needed to push the video as long as he could for that ad revenue.

So hey, if you’re getting on for the first time that day and don’t like your Mass Outbreaks, just quit and restart. It’ll be new ones so long as it didn’t save.
I’ve gotten gastly like three days in a row now, so this is good to know.

Alright, but get this: I wish Nanu was a babe with fat tits.

So, between my bouts of shiny hunting for 3 segment Dudunsparce (10 phases atm) and Masuda Method for some oddly specific Pokemon, I've begun a second playthrough. These open world games are much better enjoyed a second time around when you're abusing applying all that knowledge from your first run. Allow me to share some of my most recent exploits (and no, I do not use external software or hardware to edit my save data):

Meet Cherry. Cherry has just arrived to Paldea to attend UVA. If you were to judge Cherry based on just her appearance, you may believe she would pick a fire Pokemon as her starter. While you may be correct in that assumption, she did not start with UVA's standard fire starter Fuecoco. It seems Director Clavell just so happened to have run out of that particular species. Instead, our fresh newbie has begun her adventure with a Ceruledge.

Cherry's new rival, Nemona, has taught her how to capture new Pokemon to add to her team. Cherry rounded out her team shortly after this tutorial with the following Pokemon:

An incredibly sleek Vaporeon.

A grumpy Shroomish.

A camera shy Magnemite.

An adorable little Ralts.

And an incredibly fierce Bagon.

What other discoveries will Cherry find along Poko Path? Who knows!

So you know that little trick that lets you teleport to Pokemon you initiate battle with? I spawned wild Pokemon on the cliffs north of Poko Path to teleport out of the tutorial sections allowing me to sequence break and collect these Pokemon. I plan on galivanting around Paldea on foot completing as much of my Pokedex as possible and leveling my team as high as possible before completing the tutorial. I don't have access to my ride Pokemon, Terastallization, Tera Raids, Picnics, the Gym challenge, the Team Star raids, Titans or even trading as those don't activate until the Treasure Hunt starts. Why am I doing this? I want revenge on that level 40 Houndoom in the story and like hell will I let that stupid sandwich stealing dragon upstage me.

And poor Arven... first his Mabosstiff was savaged by a Paradox Pokemon, and then his Skwovet is going to meet me...

do the wild pokémon attack the player like in Legends? Or does bumping into them immediately start the pokémon battle?

They don't attack the player specifically, just the player's Pokemon. Running into them initiates battle with that specific Pokemon. Some Pokemon are aggressive and chase you down to initiate battle. Some approach, investigate and interact with you a little bit until you actually touch them, and some are just indifferent and ignore you until you touch them. The rules are the same as past games. If your Pokemon all faint, you "white out" or rush to the nearest Pokemon Center or whatever the in-game description for it is now. I haven't had all my Pokemon faint in this game beyond one of the Area Zero fights and that fight just lets you retry.

I'd skipped out on Legends for some reason or another. But, I've got that Pogeymans bug in me and I bought it. It's really good. Not perfect, but I'm honestly digging it more than I was Scarlet and Violet. Just beaning some unsuspecting Pokemon from behind and catching it is really satisfying. I really like having to be sorta tactical and plan around big, nasty Pokemon that are right in your way early on too. It's insane how much better it looks visually than Scarlet/Violet as well. Sure, I'd say the newer releases are more ambitious as far as content goes, but I'm loving it so far. Nearing the fight with Noble Electrode, so not all the way done. I hope we get another entry like this. I know we won't, since that'd be cool. But, something set in ye olde Kalos, Johto or Unova would be especially interesting. Like, something around the time of the war mentioned in X/Y's backstory or someting around the time of the Brass Tower getting burned or seeing Reshiram and Zekrom getting sealed away. Or even something set in modern times, but still using this sorta system would be fun.

A Legends-style game in Hoenn would have been fun, but IGN said too much water so I don' t want to swim.

So I didn’t mention it earlier, but Gimmieghoul’s evolution makes me immediately think of a 90’s “cool” mascot for cereal or a drink or something and I kinda love him for it. Had to put it on my team even though I had Ghost and Steel coverage already.
I made the same connection, and at least for me I can only think of the Cinnamon Stick character from the old Apple Jacks commercials.
