Also, have they said anything about the previous generation gimmicks (i.e. Megas, Z-Moves, Dynamxing/Gigantamaxing) returning in Scarlet & Violet, or will those also fall to the GF tradition of abandoning features, just to "keep games fresh"?
No word on them yet, but I wouldn't hold my breath on any of them returning at this point and it's for the best in Dynamaxing's case.
The Japanese logos have a six-pointed gemstone-like object on ‘em like all of the Japanese logos for post-Gen V games do (XY’s Mega Evolution symbol, ORAS’s alpha and omega symbols tying into Primal Reversion, SM’s Z-Crystal symbol, USUM’s Prism symbol tying into Necrozma, and SWSH’s weird Poke Ball-like logo hinting at Dynamax/Gigantamax.

Its sad that its more exciting to wait for some quality Gen VIII hacks than a new official pokemon game anymore.

Im more interested in a spiritual successor to battle revolution. Being able to battle with your DS as a controller using pokemon from your gen IV game was awesome.
I doubt we’ll ever see a sequel to the Stadium/Colosseum/Battle Revolution for the forseeable future, Genius Sonority‘s Pokemon entries have shifted to puzzle-genre entries while TPC and GF don’t really see a use for such a title thanks to Gen VI’s shift into 3D. I also wouldn’t be surprised if GF used the same excuse they used to justify gutting the Battle Frontier from ORAS to explain the lack of such a console-level entry.

Even the quality of the spinoffs has taken a sharp nose dive since Gen V. Conquest was alright but did not do a great job at telling people it was a collaboration between pokemon and the "noabunga's ambition" franchise and only found out that it even had a manga adaptation years later.

The 3DS poke-bejeweled games can go to hell and Rumble didn't deserve to die so poke-bejeweled and GO could take its place.
Mystery dungeon became a fucking slog to even get to the gameplay with so much garbage fluff dialog. (I get its no illiad, but it makes Sun/Moon feel like they were free roam open world games by comparison.)

Then BDSP just brought all the bad issues the sinnoh games had back and added a fucking price tag to even trade online in the first place.

I still think adding a “Stadium mode” to gen 8 would have gone a long way to making Pokemon’s transition to home consoles feel special. A collection of rental Pokemon with fixed builds that can be used in tournaments, like cups or the gym leader tower from the Stadium games. A local multiplayer mode that lets 2+ people battle on one system using rental Pokemon or anything you’ve actually caught. A quick play mode that, like Stadium, gives everyone a random set of rentals, also complimenting the Switch’s pick-up-and-play format. Completing challenges like these could then unlock event Pokemon and special items, or at the very least give you points to use in some shop.

To be fair in the original R/S there was only the battle tower and the battle frontier didnt make an appearance outside the entire season of the anime dedicated to it until Emerald.

I still want to see some of the anime and manga exclusive locations appear in the games for once. That Italy region looked way more interesting than galar.

That's a great idea, I guess Stadium games might not be necessary anymore but they should instead include the Stadium features in mainline games.

I guess that would take effort and resources beyond the absolute bare minimum though, so we haven't seen that happen.

Well it appears that the TCG’s usual post-World Championship rotation isn’t happening in August, it’s happening in early 2023. They’ve also banned some promo cards (all of the Special Delivery promos, the Dark Sylveon V and Lance’s Charizard V promos that were bundled with some Celebrations products, and the Europe-only “On the Ball” promos) from organized play due to them lacking a worldwide release.

As to why we’re getting this weird mid-season rotation there are a lot of theories running around but the one that makes the most sense is that TPCi wants to match Japan’s Standard rotation format going forward, which would mean that this style of rotation is going to be a permanent thing going forward.

What is the point of banning everything these days?
Competitive pokemon spergs are the only ones I've ever seen get more ban happy than the average discordfag.

The autists completely miss the point of pokemon being partners like in the anime where the entire point was to train them to take on battle frontier level competitions without all these retarded "restrictions" outside of no legendaries, which even the anime breaks a few times when nurse joy rolls up with a latias of her own and implying Latios/Latias are not legendaries anymore.

They weren't legendary to begin with. Latias and Latios are mythicals or low-teir legendary pokemon. With mythicals, It's possible that there are several of the same ones out there.

I get them mixed up, but isn’t it the other way around? I think the distinction is that legendaries can be obtained normally in-game (implying there are several in the world) while mythicals can only be obtained through mystery gifts (implying there’s only one). But Mewtwo, Dialga, and Palkia are apparently not mythicals so I don’t know.

Just look at "the year of legendary pokemon" and see how interchangeably and loosely they use the term "mythical" for box art legendaries to where it does not mean anything.

The low-tier Legendaries (i.e. Latias/Latios) are usually only 1 per game (I think), and usually have 600 BST.

The cover Legendaries (i.e. Groudon and Kyogre, and Mewtwo, Dialga, and Palkia, are in this category as well) are also only 1 per game, and are called Special or Restricted Pokémon, with the latter being a term used in VGC. Those are usually not allowed in VGC, but are allowed in some years, i.e. 2016, 2019, and 2022 right now, and players can have a maximum of two of them on their team during those years.

IIRC, Mythicals (i.e. Arceus, and the other Mystery Gift ones) were never allowed in VGC.

There are three separate designations in the coding of the games starting in Sun and Moon:

-Sub Legendaries: For the most part they are allowed in most formats with no restrictions outside of a handful of special tournaments(Note that while they are not actually Legendary lore-wise, Ultra Beasts are flagged as sub-legendaries in the coding of the games):
Articuno. Zapdos, Moltres, Raikou, Entei. Suicune, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Latias, Latios, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Heatran, Regigigas, Cresselia, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, Type: Null, Silvally, Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Nihilego, Buzzwole, Pherosmosa, Xurkitree, Celesteela, Kartana, Guzzlord, Poipole, Naganadel, Stakataka, Blacephalon, Kubfu, Urshifu, Regiekeki, Regidrago, Glastrier, Spectrier, and Enamorus

-Restricted Legendaries: Banned from most battle facilities and often limited to one or two per team in official tournaments if they are allowed at all:
Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Zacian, Zamazenta, Eternatus, Calyrex, and most likely both Koraidon and Miraidon

-Mythicals: Banned from most battle facilities, and are never allowed in tournaments outside of very extreme circumstances(so far only in the very final Gen VII wifi tournament where any species caught in any game could be used in a free-for-all as a big grand finale to the 3DS era of the series):
Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Keldeo, Meloetta, Genesect, Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion, Magearna, Marshadow, Zeraora, Meltan, Melmetal, and Zarude

Nice joke lol. The Italy themed region was in Pokemon Heroes, the movie centered around Latios and Latias with all the Italian canals and Latias constantly soaking people with the canal water and flying around the place like its the death star trench run. Why did none of the games ever factor in their ability to turn invisible and shape shift into people they have encountered before?

The orange league needs to be introduced as an endgame area at some point when the next kanto remake is announced. The closest we ever got was FRLG's post game.

Never liked it when some random nobody had one, or sometimes multiple legendaries in the anime. Really takes a lot of the impact away when the physical manifestation of an abstract idea or element is used in a friendly match for shits and giggles.
