I'm so fucking mad that this shitty game is selling well. My rage is palpable that another mediocre Pokemon game is going to set yet another bad example for a lazy developer. We're never going to get a good Pokemon game again. The reviews are all fluff and the people reviewing the game are frauds. American and Western European press are nothing more than tools. The fucking Italians were the ones that came in with a good review. I'm so fucking mad that this shitty game is selling well. And I'm so fucking mad that people are defending it and saying "but in 30 years after they iterate on this premise it might be good so we should be happy with our shit sandwich!!!" And "but look all the review sites that I mock regularly gave it a 10/10 so that's great!" I'm so fucking mad that this shitty game is selling well.

Regarding Palworld, this developer has actually put out an early access game called Craftopia about a year or so ago. Craftopia is roughly speaking a Zelda BotW inspired crafting survival game with a similar art style was Palworld. In fact Palworld sort of looks like Craftopia just with an imo better idea. I know someone who played Craftopia months ago, and it isn't that bad (for EA access standards) just clearly not finished but it did get an update in mid December of 2021 so it isn't a dead project.

So this developer can produce something playable and decent at least.
IDK I downloaded and played Craftopia without knowing what it was cause it popped up on games pass, it looked like hot garbage in my opinion and played like it as well, stopped after an hour, there are loads of significantly better survival games out there. Also the UWU anime opening stuff was so dumb I couldn't stop laughing.

I'm seeing another lazy cash-in from our friends at Game Freak.
Well, you aren't wrong, given that the protag is an Mary Sue who comes across some magical device that can save the world. And his opposition is...Someone being stubborn about his idea to defend the village, and probably that merchant who's stalking you.

It's Pokemon, the game hasn't really changed that much throughout years until it made it's way to the 3DS. The only reason to look forward to anything is the Rule 34 of the trainers, at this point.

While I'm happy that Game Freak did something different for Legends Arceus, what I've seen from leaks was underwhelming. You could've controlled the Pokémon during the boss fights, much like how Ni No Kuni's combat system worked, but nope. You throw balms, dodge, throw balms, run around for a bit, throw more balms, rinse and repeat until the game lets you send out your Pokémon to do a bogstandard Pokémon fight.

I think the best solution would be to outsource development to a developer that's actually competent. I've seen people suggest Genius Sorority, but HAL Labatory is also a good contender, considering they made both Pokémon Stadium games.

The games didn't change much in the 3D era either. It may have gotten easier to play and had hit or miss gimmicks, but they were more or less no different from the earlier titles.

Also, at least half of the trainers are underage. Gross.

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Being inexplicably angry and over the top about a video game I'm not going to play is my weekend entertainment. How fucking dare you!

So... I take it that Legend of Arceus is a either you love it or hate it kind of game.
More like you're retarded or you recognize the degradation of a billion dollar franchise.

dunno so far up to kelvor and have been glued to this shit somehow, game has alot of good and bad, for example I really like the visual style and the models look the best the series has done so far aside from spin offs like snap, on the otherhand popin can be abit of a crap shoot for the environments. Tho i prefer the LOD to load in like that compared to the pokemon spawning so close like in SWSH, Will say this is the most fun that I have had with Pokémon in years and the feel that if this was merged with normal mainline it could work out pretty well for a new series standard.

So… there’s no multiplayer in Legends? No local or online play? Is this because of the new battle mechanics or something? I thought most Pokemon games, even spinoffs, had some some kind of multiplayer component.

A streamer I was watching said it pretty concisely, "This is the Pokemon game we could and should've gotten 5-10 years ago." It definitely does feel like a game originally meant for the WiiU or as a Switch launch title. I guess people are so pissy right now because this game is basically too little and too late after putting up with Game Freaks' disappointments for so long.

There's trading, but I think that's as far as it goes.

I mean... do you want me to beat the dead horse and say "lazy"? Or are we going with "it is DLC"?

Maybe it'll be a free patch?? :optimistic:

So, I could PERHAPS give them the benefit of the doubt and say that this is just a spin-off and to expect it to resemble a “main series” title might be a bridge too far. For the sake of argument anyway.

They are utterly missing the massive appeal that earned the franchise so many insane fans in the 90s: FUCKING MULTIPLAYER. Shit, they had to ban game boys at my school when I was a kid because people were so obsessed with battling these pokey-monster things. Without compelling multiplayer, I firmly believe Pokémon could have just become another Golden Sun, a collect-a-thon RPG that was… fine, I guess. But people loved the idea of having YOUR pikachu go and kick the shit out of that asshole Derek’s blastoise during recess. Otherwise… what’s the point? Oh look it’s final fantasy but with a water shooting turtle and a leafy dinosaur.

Talk about forgetting your roots.

So far, I'm liking it granted I didn't play too much yet, it's just been fun to run around and catch pokemon this way! I also don't care, I put my money into it because I want to see them try new things and if this pushes them even the slightest bit in that direction I will consider it money well spent.
