BTW, heard that releasing mons actually has more of an incentive now, which considering the amount you catch is a pretty smart move to do

Pretty sure I saw Dusknoir in the wild, so yes
also an fyi, if a pokemon line is in then usually it's evolutions and pre evos are as well, not the case for alt forms tho in this game aside from a few exceptions
Yeah, the Duskull line is in. For anyone interested, here's a full list of pokemon in Legends:

It broke my heart to know my favourite 'mons were associated with some of the worst games in the series after being overshadowed by Banette for so long. If the game really is fun then I'm adding Dusclops to my team without a doubt.

Speaking of useless gimmick balls, I don't care if Moon Balls are statistically the most useless ones in the entire series.

They're still my favorite because they have the coolest design.
I remember that I only ever used gimmick balls as a kid based on which design would look best on a pokemon, mainly those I wanted to use regularly. Like catching steel ones with heavy balls, water ones with lure balls and electric ones with fast balls.
I'm Sorry to rant on you but I just don't wanna hear any complaining in these threads anymore. I just wanna talk about the new dang game man.
To be fair this is a griefing thread, not a general. Not expecting complaints and criticisms is like not expecting pasta recipes in the pastadome even though people mainly went there for the sperging.
As kino as that would be that is not correct, it's the same mode but scaled to be bigger than normal.
View attachment 2912133
The dataminers have said it's like only 4 different sizes: normal, big, bigger, and alpha size.

Pictured above: 4 alpha sized mons 2.5x the size of normal.
I like it. I've always hated a lot of pokemon sizes, so I hope they stick with this new size system among other things this game introduced instead of just treating them like gimmicks and abandoning them in the next generations and remakes (🌈🌈🌈). I also wish future games would allow regular pokeymanz to evolve into their regional variants instead of just seeing them abandon new designs and evolution gimmicks like they've done lately outside of mobile shit or at least introduce non-regional variants of the new evolutions (🌈🌈🌈).

Anyway, the game itself looks pretty good so far and seems like a vast improvement over the dumpsterfire known as swish, but like with most open world games I dislike the lack of memorable locations, settlements=towns and NPCs and what areas you can visit still feel pretty empty, especially caves. As for the new mons, a lot of them look fine to me despite what I'm hearing about them (only four of them came off as looking really bad imho) but I'm more disappointed there's only like 20 or so new mons and forms.

Rock Arcanine looks pretty dope, though I wish its hair/mane was bigger or "poofier" like some early fanart did it, specifically more "curls".

1642965842650.png

Ancient Electrode looks rad too, but I wish they had added some white to its new meaner eyes. Both it and ancient voltorb have a nice aesthetic and I like how their eyes are just hollow holes, implying that its more like some smaller electric animal riding around in the oversized pokeball like a shell or camouflage. I also like how its mouth looks painted on.

1642965854460.png

Sneasel looks okay. Would like it better if its face was mostly white. I like its typing so that's a bonus.

1642965884594.png

I like Qwillfish's new colorscheme and typing. Like the others, it would be a shame if they just abandoned it after this one like a gimmick instead of something you can breed with a special incense.

1642965926374.png

The variant of the flower girl from Black and White looks fine, the typing is cool too, and its boss intro gives it a very whimsical feel. But it also reminds of that creepy grass sheep /vp/ furfags won't shut up about.

1642971763862.jpeg

I love these new variants over the originals and honestly wish they'd replace the originals. Love the extra emphasis on the snail traits, makes them look more like proper mythical snail dragons, like the lou carcolh, shussebora and kijikui, with the last two fitting the region. The steel dragon typing is also rad and a vast improvement. I only wish they had changed Goodra's color to something different. Maybe blue and gray, otherwise, this fucker is just great.

1642966748930.png

Typhlosion looks pretty mellow and I like that chest marking. Probably looks better with ghostly fire on, but so far I like the whole mellow vibe it gives.

1642968181842.png
1642968138192.jpeg

I like the look of the SunMoon owl here, although I was hoping it would be something crazy like grass/fire rather than grass/fighting. Still like the wandering ronin vibe its giving.

1642966870530.png
1642967136344.png

I like qwilfish's new evolution more than the beta one. Although I wish it had a bigger mouth or different expression, but this is fine too.

1642967195022.png

I'm loving this guy. Makes Ursaring feel more fantastical and I hope they don't abandon it after this game too.

1642967282946.png

Nice to see blue stripe get some love.

1642967868984.png

Its weird but I like how Ancient Dialga looks more like Arceus. Really emphasizes its status as one of its first creations. Although its neck is a bit iffy.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for the ones I didn't like much or at all.

This is... Um, its new. Looks like furfag bait.

1642967483054.png

So this is supposed to be the lost sister of the genie trio from BW and she can turn into a turtle snake scorpion thing... This is a thing. At least they didn't make it male, otherwise twitter would be latching on to this thing as the first gay or troon pokemon.

1642966625924.png

New samurai seal just looks like an edgy dark version of the original and doesn't look all that different. Was never fond of the original so I guess the odds of me liking it were always slim.

1642966414486.png
1642968762364.png
1642966484286.jpeg

Nu Avalug(?) looks like garbage and its typing is even bigger garbage. Makes me wish that fan version some dude made were the legit version.

1642968035654.png

This looks... awkward. I think this could've worked if they had kept its arms, giving it a centaur look. Now it just looks like some weird deviantart thing in mid-transformation.
1642972837146.jpeg
Arceus doesn't get a new form which sucks, but it does get a pretty rad plate that now makes Judgement supereffective against everything and does STAB damage all the time which is pretty amazing.
1642970962850.png

Arceus also has a bit of "true divine form" entrance when it appears which is neat and makes it feel like maybe Arceus itself is just a form it takes or its part of something bigger. I like also how it talks like Calyrex and that it joins you of its own choice, making it feel like a proper deity who wants to walk among its creations, and the lore and religion of the setting is handled really well and respectfully. 神王
Another year, another shit game
I think its time you faggots apologize to the spinoffs

My only problem with Overquill is that much like farfethch'd/sirfetch'd and ostagune it probably means that normal qwillfish will never get a real evo. I would prefer that if your going to make a regonal evo like this that the one you are basing it off of got something before hand. but as a sinnoh fetus I think that is expected that I would have that take, plus the already added cross gen evos are so cool that I just wish there was more of them in Legends

Yeah that's actually one of my biggest issues with region exclusive evolutions. Which is why I hope they introduce regular non-region exclusive variants of these new evolved forms for them or at the very least introduce some sort of "hisui/galar/etc region stone" that lets pokemon evolve into the evolved form of another region.

I think a possible reason they might be making region exclusive evolutions is that maybe they're playing it safe in case no one likes the new evolutions, but even that makes little sense since they could just introduce alternate evolutions later on, like they did with Gallade in Gen 4. And its not like anyone would really care if they retconned some evolution methods like they did with Magnezone to create some more new evolutions without having to introduce more stones or evolution gimmicks.

Considering that wyndeer and Ursaluna are classic cross gen evos and the first ones since gen 6, I have no real idea. Again this is not to say I hate regional forms or whatever, just that I wish both could coexist like they do in this game.

I just remembered another pokemon whose absence from this game seems odd considering this game's setting: Dunsparce. It's another pokemon based on a yokai (in this case the Tsuchinoko), and this could have been the game to finally give it an evolution. Think of the potential a Dragon-type Dunsparce evo could have.

Yeah Hisuian Typhlosion looks much better in game with his flames:

This design has really grown on me. I'm starting to like it more than the original (it also helps that it's part Ghost-type, which is my favorite typing).

EDIT: Thinking about it, since Quagsire is based on a Japanese Giant Salamander, you would think it would have been in the game. Game Freak could have even given it a regional evolution.

Bugs me to no end. Dunsparce is one of those pokemone I always felt really deserved an awesome evolution considering its mythical snake (tsuchinoko and oroboros) and possible dragon status, with its typing feeling like it was hiding something more.

I'm not disappointed. I think I like it as much as the original now.

I hear some people think it's a joke that as a rare cryptid dunsparce is intentionally useless but I don't buy it I think he would make a good dragon fairy type evo (RIP mega Alteria).

Kleavor, too, it's a branch evolution similar to Slowking, Sylveon, and others, where Scyther can become either Scizor or Kleavor.

A little something to bring a smile to your face:

Yeah that was a surprise when it got revealed to me, I thought for sure for prerelease Scyther would be stuck with a new hisuian form, glad he wasn't because Kleavor and Scizor provide a nice contrast to each other

Is it known when trading is available (if available at all)? I'd like to have all three starters on my team as early as possible, they've grown on me. :heart-full:

Trading is in the game for sure, battling no (but I'm sure showdown will have a legends sim mode)
also this is the second social strand type game, thanks kojima

Time space distortions make trading for starters unnecessary but if you want to do it old school, be my guest

I assume trading is available as soon as you get your starter?

This is my first time hearing about the distortion feature, haven't caught up with all the leaks. Is that like the Ultra Wormholes?

Basically the way it works is that at various points distortion in time and space will appear on the map, inside of them aggressive pokemon will spawm, including the game's three starters. For example, hear is an Oshawott spawning in a distortion:

I was annoyed that the Jirachi bonus disc didnt work with Emerald, but luckily I already had a game link cable and an extra GBA lying around so it wasn't much of an issue
You can download an emerald save file from Project Pokémon with a complete pokedex and boxes full of fully trained, shiny Pokémon, all legendaries included, including every kind of Jirachi with unique berries.

Oooooooh ancient Voltorb and Electrode look really good and I want them. Totally going to get one if I can!

I'll never apologize - I loved these games from the start and if I had to choose between Colosseum/XD or Legends I'd go with the former every time. Kino games, kino characters, kino plots and kino music. The fact that Miror B. hasn't made an appearance since XD is criminal.

I want him to have him in mainline just to see how they would remix his theme
We are at a point with Legends where there is a full on Eurobeat battle theme, Go Ichnose can make wonders of this shit when he properly mixes tracks (which I think was what caused SWSH's tracks to grade on me but thats beside the point, Legend's god tier OST makes up for it).

Does anyone know any legitimately good ROM hacks? I'm looking for something to keep me busy while I wait for PLA.
I enjoyed Blazed Glaze (or Blaze Glazed?), and for a ROM hack with Fakemon Vega Minus is pretty decent.
Fire Red Advanced Challenge is great for a retread of the same FR/LG story.

Pokemon Insurgence is kind wannabe-hardcore and I can already start to feel the lead-in to Legendary spam (like fuck, go back to Legendaries being extremely rare mythical creatures, not a requirement for any Evil Team 101); but otherwise the gameplay is decent so far and has some cool Delta-species.

So does evolution, and look how quickly that happens in Pokémon
To be fair "evolution" in Pokemon is basically just IRL "metamorphosis" most of the time.
Some species of animals can metamorphosize in a matter of weeks.

Imagine Poliwag having 3 weeks to evolve into a Poliwhirl, and if it doesn't evolve by then the puddle dries up and it literally dies of dehydration and/or heat stroke.

I feel like evolution in Pokemon as an idea is misleading. It’s more of a metamorphic change that happens as part of an organism’s life rather evolution as we know it where gradual mutations that are brought on by environmental circumstances.

Case in point, every other bug Pokemon. Most of them have larval and pupal stages before finally evolving into their final form. You wouldn’t call that evolution, would you?
Honestly if Pokemon Evolution worked like Darwinian Evolution; you'd have a case where Venosaur evolves down to Bulbasaur because Bulbasaur consumes less resources and is less vulnerable to the dominance of Psychic pokemon in the Kanto Region.

Or throw in artificial selection and you have a situation where Granbull is "evolved" down to Snubull because people do be that way, turning badass canines into ones that fit in a purse.
