So does evolution, and look how quickly that happens in Pokémon
I feel like evolution in Pokemon as an idea is misleading. It’s more of a metamorphic change that happens as part of an organism’s life rather evolution as we know it where gradual mutations that are brought on by environmental circumstances.

Case in point, every other bug Pokemon. Most of them have larval and pupal stages before finally evolving into their final form. You wouldn’t call that evolution, would you?

>TFW actual Darwinian evolution that caused fundamentalists to call the game satanic only started to be in the games 20 years later and might have been a one off gimmick if it wasn't so well received in Sun and Moon
Uh... bro? Hate to break it to you but species go extinct like every couple year. Not even to mention things like Tasmanian tigers, cave bears, thunder birds etc
By Gen 27 there will be a classic mon variation that is due to it being a fossil mon and being recently extinct

That's been the general idea since the very beginning. In its lore, Pokémon were legit real life animals at one point until new, powerful species began branching off and just ended up taking the place of normal (mundane) animals in the ecosystem. Supposedly there's still real animals, but they're just not as common as Pokémon.

Didnt see anyone mention this yet but the japs are having piplup events, The BDSP one is whatever. The Arceus one however knows roost, which is a pretty massive move for a pokemon like Empoleon to have.

I’m almost 100% certain that piece of lore has been silently retconned since at least Gen 3.

After 18 years, I finally got a Jirachi onto my Ruby version since my brothers borrowed their friend's bonus disk.

And then I find out you can only get one Jirachi per save file. And multiple Jirachis have many different Berries.

Fuck.

I rarely ever start over my save files due to the attachment I have with them. It was sad enough Gold and Silver's batteries died which meant my near-completed PokéDex was all for naught. My Ruby version is so old, it couldn't even fix the Berry Glitch, but it'd still be great to get a Shiny, at the very least.

I could just suck it up and buy myself a Sapphire version for the sole purpose of doing this one Shiny hunt and just send the Jirachis into my SoulSilver to harvest the Berries 'til I get the Shiny. Sounds like fun, I can do that.

what the fuck

Oh wait, that's with the box included. Can just get the cartridges themselves for reasonable prices anywhere. They just... label them weird on Amazon. Huh.

You have to be careful with buying GBA and DS Pokemon games online. They are very often bootlegs that are buggy and wipe data or freeze regularly, and they are often the cheaper ones in terms of price. Buying them in a place like a physical store or garage sale is usually the best bet, as long as you look up the minor differences that give away a bootleg cart from the real deal because you can inspect it up close.

So what are you guys' thoughts on the dex for Legends: Arceus? It's smaller than I thought it'd be, but I can't complain since some of my favorites made it in (Gengar, Rhydon, Crobat, Heracross, Garchomp, Yanmega, Gliscor). Hopefully there will be DLC that adds some more in down the road. On that note, which 'mons would you like to see make it in? The ones I'm hoping for along with their evolutions/pre-evolutions:
-Exeggutor
-Shiftry
-Hydreigon
-Volcarona
-Gen 3 starters
-Scolipede
-Gen 3 fossil mons
-Aerodactyl
-Flygon
-Chandelure
-Trevenant
-Cacturne
-Banette
-Marowak
-Dragalge
-Blastoise
-Venusaur
-Claydol
-Wailord
-Mawile
-Absol

One final thought about the dex: for a game set in a region based on ancient Japan, there are some missed opportunities via certain pokemons' exclusion. No Shiftry (design inspired by Tengu), Claydol (inspired by Japanese Dogu statues), or Mawile (based on the futakuchi-onna) for example. Also would have liked to have seen a Hisuian Scolipede based on the Japanese Ōmukade, or a ghost type Hisuian Wailord based on the Bake-kujira.

Smaller than I expected like you said but alot of the mons I loved that were absent from swoshi were here and the fact that the alot of the animation issues have been ironed out (and especially the idle mon animations, thats so cute and the interactions involving that I love so much more than following mons, cant wait to pose some scenes for them). as for if there's DLC, theres a couple I could see, some from the plat dex that didn't show up, others just for the fun of it:
WOOPER
Feebas
Hoothoot
Marill
Houndoom
Grafireg
Absol
Sentret (with a new form so it isn't redundant with bidoof also being in the game)
Mereep
Snubbull
Shuckle
Skarmory
Delibird
(Add one or two cross gen evos to one of these mons like Shuckle or Delibird because I really appreciated the new ones in Legends Arceus and that makes abit of mons)
The main problem with making DLC is they used up all the sinnoh legends and areas for the main game, which is great for the postgame hunt to be worth a damn again, however this makes having DLC hard to do, but the one that would make the most sense is having the Sinjoh Ruins show up as a "newly discovered trade route" to bring more Civilization to Hisui
Plus it would possibly make Celibi be that DLC's centeral focus and get the PC to un time travel himself and wrap the story up
Also find a way to include volo again since he doesn't have a rematch in base game and seeing them try to find a way to make that fight even harder would be funny
Maybe have some stuff like the unown quest being completed impacting the DLC story and explore what the relationship between sinnoh and johto really is and you can have a solid foundation for an expansion

It’s a small thing, but I do really appreciate that you can actually see the size difference between a tiny and a large of the same Pokémon now.

There's alot of little details that you can tell that the team had a ball working on this one, the interactions on the water with the pokeball and the raft for land pokemon come to mind for example.
When you make an open game and can't purely rely on scale little things like that add up to bring the world alive and feel unique

I have been playing a lot of this and am at an area called Firepit Island. Pretty sure that is the name. I'm not sure how I feel about playing much more. The game is playable and a good sort of "turn your brain off" kind of game. But I think I am glad I did not buy. Sometimes I get a Sonic Adventure feeling from this game.

I like the open world but it does not all fit together great with battles. Story is also okay.

What do you mean? Are there different models for each size difference?
As kino as that would be that is not correct, it's the same mode but scaled to be bigger than normal.

The dataminers have said it's like only 4 different sizes: normal, big, bigger, and alpha size.

Pictured above: 4 alpha sized mons 2.5x the size of normal.

Just curious, anyone know the stat lines for the new Pokemon and the Hisuian forms? I only saw the stats for the Genie.

EDIT: Found it on a link, and the genie has a therian form too. No way these forms are stranded in this game.
