It’s good to hear that there are other Fire Types like Houndour in Sinnoh now.

That really did suck how all I could find for a fire type was Ponyta. I’m not a fan of the Chimchar line so it’s usually the one I ignore, so a Houndoom is a good for me.

Fair enough, haven’t seen the dub of the current Anime - but at this point I’d even take them pulling a Bethesda and having 6 people voice the entire game. Sure, it’s not necessary to have Voice Acting, but with how much money Pokémon rakes in it just makes the games feel bush league at times.

Fuck, FNAF(!) technically had voice acting, and that was just one guy dumping exposition - you’re telling me that a game made on a shoestring budget can do VA but the most profitable property arguably ever can’t?

Now that you mentioned it, PLA seems to have little tidbits of Voice acting in the form of Protag making sounds in response to taking damage.

Literally Mega Man X7 tier.
Here’s what I don’t understand. The original voice actor for Ash does the voice of a character in Fire Emblem Heroes, and she can still do the Ash voice. WHY CAN’T THE POKÉMON COMPANY HIRE HER IF NINTENDO CAN?!
 
I haven't seriously played a Pokemon game since BW. I really want a new game to come out that's good. But fuck this looks rough. Played SMTV recently and had way more fun with it than I got out of the handful of hours I put into SwSh before quitting.

I'm not gonna say that the quality of Pokemon games hasn't dipped over the past few years, and that GameFreak doesn't play favorites with certain 'mons, but I'm not gonna blame them for not understanding what the fanbase wants because the fanbase itself doesn't even know what it really wants.

Part of this is inevitable for being the literal biggest franchise in the world by gross. There's literally millions of people who will be upset if you do one thing, and millions more who will be upset if you don't. To say nothing of the "non-pokemon-mongame-fandom" who will bitch at every oportunity, and how many people consider themselves burned Pokefans and bear a grudge at this point.

No matter what they do, literally millions will be pissed.

There's other reasons, both forgiveable (creative burnout) and not (the yearly schedule, masuda being a sperg, like really why give us all these tools to make top-of-the-line pokemon and not give us battle frontier) but still, it's very easy to get swept up in the waves.

This fanbase is even worse than Sonicfags. At least when Sonicfags complain about the game being bad/mediocre, they usually don’t buy the game.

Pokemon Brilliant Menu and Shining Menu are great games. Polygon rates it 9.5/10, the most menu you've ever had in a game. Kotaku 8.9/10, you'll come for the menus and stay to figure out how to close them. Buzzfeed 7.8/10, menu UI is fastest we've seen yet, so fast it just opens mid battle.

I don't think there's specific Pokemon that are sacred cows so much as entire generations being a sacred cow. Gen 5 had some great games but God forbid you criticize anything about them or the diehard autists will try to burn you at the stake.

I don't think there's ever been a Pokemon where someone wasn't willing to criticize something about it. I'd say the closest you could get would be Eevee.
