They released a short movie about Hisuian Voltorb. It's cute.

Good to see one of my favourite electric pokemon is finally getting some attention. I'm still undecided on if I'm going to get Arceus when it comes out thanks to BDSP's lackluster performance, but if I do decide to consoom this fella's going on my team without a doubt. I wonder if Hisuian Electrode is going to be the inverse of Voltorb where it's super pissed off all the time instead of being an absolute shitlord.

This Tweet was at 5 AM. Jesus fucking Christ.

For serious real, 15 years ago I was in a Stone Cutter club to talk bad about Joe. I truly saw back then how unhinged he gets.

In March 2005 he had an epic pity party just because Bulbagarden was adding new features he couldn’t. He claimed he was selling his domain which led to all the kiddies breaking their piggy banks to try and help.

How does that relate to the Tweet? /sincere/

They'd likely outsource to another company in this if BDSP is any Indication (they might even use ILCA again).
So like, was it ILCA's choice to make it a by-the-numbers remake, or was someone breathing over their shoulder?

I mean, even though it's a little disappointing I understand why they'd want to play it safe, but I think they went a little too far.

I had long forgotten how fun the mining minigame is, only this time there's no wrist-killing touch screen action.

While I would've liked the EXP Share to be optional, the remakes at the very least fixed the main thing that plagued all five Gen IV games: The speed of, well, everything. Even the surf speed boost Platinum added only fixed one of many slowdown issues, it is a very slow group of games, battles take far longer than they need to, mostly due to how the HP draining animation was coded for the games and slow text scrawling even on the fastest settings. I jumped back on Platinum to see how I felt going from BDSP to it, and it somehow seemed even slower than the last time I touched it a few months back. The save time especially is hilariously bad(Gen V had the same issue as well), mostly due to how it checks and double-checks every single Pokemon in your party, PC, and daycare to make sure all of them are backed up properly.

Joe was always nuts even back when he first got into the fandom. I remember admins and mods from other huge Pokemon forums despising the shit out of him and the members of his forums. I even have a faint memory of ones of those places referring the Serebii forums as “the green boards.” Livejournal communities also made fun of him because of his slap fights with other Pokemon forums and his obsession with getting news out before anyone else. I also heard rumors that he used to have a history of stealing and plagarizing content from other Pokemon sites.

Now all those forums and LJ accounts except for Bulbagarden are long deleted so none of the zoomers who worship him know of his past. The guy has been a laughingstock of the community since the beginning.

No. Not this, never this. Gen 5 is fine on it's own without the nu-GF cancer spreading onto it. Not so much B2/W2, but Hard Mode, Pokemon Dream Radar. and Pokestar Studios makes up for it.

What a baby.

Gen 5 remakes are inevitable at this point as that is the last entry in the series that was made before the transition to 3D. Although, this does beg the question of what they'll do after they've remade all of the 5 Generations.

They will remake kalos despite the only thing really changing being full sized models on the over world, though I really don't think the 3d gens need remasters it's like remaking any Final Fantasy game past the ps1 with a major overhall, I just don't see how you can do anything with it other than cash in on nostalgia

Watch the XY remakes STILL have chibi models.

Gen V was good as it was, why remake it?

I suppose they would do it to cash in on nostalgia, maybe it would be better if they remade it in a way that includes B&W2 as 2 games in one with their respective color version into a 2 part story.

I'll take my rainbows and colorful pieces now.

Remake based Kanto again. Zoomers on suicide watch.

He's got a point. The fact that Gen 5 had the balls to go "no past gen pokemon until post-game" was one of the best things that could have happened. The new Pokemon should be able to hold their own with each new generation and not rely on past Pokemon to pick up the slack. It made sense in Gold/Silver/Crystal because those games were direct sequels to Red/Blue/Yellow, especially since both regions are literal next door neighbors. So having older pokemon gain new baby/evolutions was a good idea, and if they hadn't axed the ideas they were going for in the beta, we would have had a fuck-ton more.

Then you get to Gen 3... new region, clearly an island seperated from Kanto'n'Johto. 135 new Pokemon in total, while not as big as the 151 in Gen 1, is still an impressive list. Hoenn could have definitely held it's own without the addition of Kanto/Johto pokemon. Azurill and Wynaut could have been post-game Pokemon and moved at the end of the pokedex (like in Gen 4 where all the past pokemon evolutions got their own section).

Speaking of Gen 4, they seem to have went all out on the new features (The Underground and the special/physical split being the big ones) but skipped out on the Pokemon themselves. This time only 107, including the previously mentioned newer evolutions. Not counting Magmortar (and the later added Heat Rotom), you only have Infernape, and Heatran as the sole fire types for this gen, which considering Fire is one of the common types in all gens, that's pretty pathetic. Even worse, you have 386 past Pokemon to pick up the slack, so now those new Pokemon become an afterthought unless your name is Garchomp or Lucario, which are both used competitively.

And then... Gen 5. With a whopping 156 new pokemon in the first Black and White games, not once resorting to using past Pokemon, never creating new baby/evolutions for them either (although Alomomola not being related to Luvdisc is kinda an obvious wtf), every single pokemon type has multiple pokemon to choose from, and only allowing you to play with the old toys in post-game. And then they fucked that all up with B2/W2 by adding 493 past pokemon in the UnovaDex because people bitched, moaned, and complained about it. And ever since then, from X/Y to Sw/Sh, it's been the same shit over and over again, only worse thanks to Mega Evolutions and "Region Variants"

I don't know about you, but when I'm going into a new region, my first thought isn't "GOLLY GEE WHIZ, I SURE HOPE PIKACHU IS BACK IN THIS GAME FOR THE 238462384672348672TH TIME!!!", I'm going "O.K., let's see what these new pokemon have to offer and if i can build a team solely on this gen". I can absolutely do that with Gen 5 and then some. Say what you want about the pokemon designs (and a lot of people have), but in my honest opinion, Black and White are the games in which they actually made some fucking effort to build from the ground up and give fans a completely different experience while keeping the basics the same without relying on nostalgia pandering.
