How they handled HOME sucks, but that's it's own thing and isn't required to enjoy the games. The restored content is just further incentive to get the DLC and was likely planned from the beginning (hell, it's not even completely restored either as some moves and pokemon are still missing). That doesn't excuse the scummy nature of it, of course.

As someone who's been playing both BD and Skyrim recently (I'm waiting for FFXIV endwalker)... yeah, Pokemon's glitches don't even add up to the power contained in a single bucket in Skyrim.

As someone who's playing Phasmophobia as well it barely registers.

If Legends has anything going for it, it’s that Pokémon’s spin off games are usually where GF and TPC tend to actually give a shit. It’s weird to say, but there’s been times where it feels the Main Line games exist solely to create new Pokémon for Merchandising and beyond that are made for as little as possible, while the spinoffs are actually given room to breathe and be their own thing.
I will be buying it day 1, I don't even care. I want them to try something new and I will put my money towards it in hopes that maybe, just maybe, it tempts them to try new things in the future. It could suck, but the spin offs have been where they shine.

I’ve seen this passed around on Twitter.

Honestly I hate the general monster taming genre community even more than the Pokemon fandom. I used to love playing monster games, I’ve played them for years and tried to get my hands on as many different kinds as possible as a kid. However, thanks to the zoomers who have is “us vs. Pokemon” mentality, the simping for monster games that aren’t even out yet or are just bad to own Pokemon, and the general immaturity that I’ve documented in this thread and the Pokeclones one, I threw in the towel and I don’t even give a shit about the genre anymore. The non Pokemon side of the genre was pretty niche in the West, I wonder which (non Pokemon) game caused it to be flooded with normies?

I think it might have been Pokemon fans growing up, getting the ability to make games themselves, and to various degrees getting annoyed with the games faults - either real or perceived. It's why you rarely see a game that approaches things from a wildly different angle, a la neopets or even things like that CD monster game. It's all pseudo-build-a-party-of-mons-stuff.

I miss neopets when it was good and I was too stupid to get all the marketing. I watched that game die in real time.

Are there any old classics you recommend? I've always wanted to branch out and the wildly different earlier ones (a la Spectrobes) stand out more to me than the buggy and incomplete new ones.

So today I realised that my new phone is an Android, which has a wi-fi hotspot option you can edit. You know what this means?

I just got a legit Azure Flute in one of my copies of Pokemon Diamond. And guess what? I can also get every single other legit wi-fi exclusive event 'mons and items - meaning I can do full odds shiny hunts for Shaymin, Darkrai, Arceus and many, many more and if for some odd reason I have to transfer them there'll literally be no problems.

I literally have no reason to even give BDSP the time of day now.

The CD Monster game is Disc Creatures.

Someone brought up Dragon Quest V. There is also Dragon Quest Monsters, Telefang, and Monster Farm. Medarot 1 got a new fan-translation.

No, not disc creatures. the one where you could scan real life CDs to get monsters and raise them in like a barn.
I looked it up, and its called Monster Ranchers. I think that's what you were thinking of when you said Monster Farm

Monster Farm is the Japanese title of Monster Rancher.
Which is getting an upgraded port of the first two games on switch in early December, check it out if you want some of that good old monster raising nostalgia

Yes. I meant Monster Rancher when I said Monster Farm.

Yeah, no. It's roughly a bit slower than the originals, if you can believe it.
I'm curious as to what you've experienced that's been slower in BDSP versus the originals. I think the 3 biggest gripes I had in the originals were Surf/Waterfall speed, how long it took to Save, and HP Bars, all of which have been drastically sped up in these games.
Surf/Waterfall Speed

Saving Speed

HP Bar Speed

These are the only bugs I've encountered so far:
Kakuna's English name was shown in Japanese when it evolved into Beedrill

Random pre-battle text replaced my attack's text

Worst stuff I've seen glitch-wise is trainers randomly warping to a higher plane (i.e. bridges they walk under), otherwise it doesn't seem any better or worst than your average Pokemon game.

Aside from being a bit slower, as well as all of the other common bugs/glitches, you sometimes get stuck in corners.
