And honestly, the sooner they fire Masuda or drop Game Freak, the better. Pokemon deserves so much more than a game director who purposefully and willfully leaves features out of a game because he thinks players are too stupid or have short attention spans. Fuck Masuda.
Masuda hardly direct the new games as his latest game he direct is Let's Go and I think there different director for the game now.
Also I think Gamefreak are still good but they have problem with the games need to be made because everything from the tcg, anime and merchandise all depends on the games being release.

I chalk that up to Game Freak using it to further flesh out R/S/E as there was more that could have been done for them at the time after using X/Y to dip their toes into the 3D era.

Like people have said earlier in the thread, the first three mainline games in the franchise were pretty simple compared to gen 4 and onwards. The remakes served to help further flesh those games out and bring them to the modern era. On that front (despite some of ORAS's flaws), I'd say they succeeded.
Yes and somehow these games did not expand in a similar manner. LetsGoPikachu/Eevee did a similar thing by expanding what the first release offered. The expanded underground seems cool but other than that its lacking that extra oomph to call it a 'remaster' vs just scaled up graphics.

Also I think is ILCA first time making a game? Correct me if I'm wrong.

The worst mechanic ever added is that decreased catchrate on pokemon higher level to then you. I just experienced the true form of hell where a much higher level gastly trapped my cranidos with mean look and the cranidos could do nothing and the gastly could not hurt me

Was that something they added in SWOSH to "balance the wild area" or was it there before?
No, they had some involvement in other games, but it is their first time making a pokemon game.
It's pretty much the first game they did majority of the work on, ILCA before this was primarily a support studio for other games (nier, yakuza, dragon quest, ect.)

Wait seriously? I get that it changes TM distribution from a balance perspective, but there's no reason to punish players by having breakable, non-replaceable TMs. There's a reason they moved away from that system.
I always saw the shift to non-breakable TMs as a QoL improvement, plus it really kinda stresses me out to know that I only have one single TM I can use to teach one pokemon this one move - I know BDSP allows you to regain any TM you want, but it just makes the process of learning and relearning moves more tedious than it needs to be, especially since it seems like a number of TMs are locked behind the Battle Tower, which isn't going to be fun to do in order to regain the ability to teach certain moves with TMs.

Masuda's listed as a director for BDSP too. I would have no problems blaming everything wrong with the games on him, considering his notorious laziness.

If it makes you feel better though, I feel the same way about Ohmori, who was the director of SwSh. Fire them both.

it really sucks how hard Masuda fell. He was so good in gens 3-5 alongside directing Crystal and sub directing Gold and Silver. What happened? Did he burn out?

Gen 5 failed due to a lack of KANTTTTTTTTTOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and this is his revenge

He's out of touch. Can't even say it's entirely his fault because...

Gen 5 failed due to a lack of KANTTTTTTTTTOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and this is his revenge
Gen 5 goes from Pokemon's nadir in public response back then to a masterpiece/a gem today. Man is still reeling from the whiplash to this day.

Looked over some more of the new features of BDSP on Serebii after my roommate announced that he bought Shining Pearl and the amount of stuff they left out from Platinum (but will still reference in small, mostly aesthetic ways anyway) is too disappointing for me to even wanna borrow the game. The original Diamond and Pearl were among the worst-selling main series titles for a good reason, and removing stuff from Platinum just kinda feels like rubbing salt in the wound. Discounting the lack of a Distortion World and Battle Frontier in these remakes, Platinum had better pacing between gyms, an improved overworld and a more balanced regional dex, all of which made playing DP obsolete. BDSP seems to have rectified some of these issues, but if they were gonna base their remake off a Sinnoh game, why not base it off the one that was a far greater critical success?

But yeah, postgame E4 teams with full IV/EV spreads is cool af and I'd love to see this continue in subsequent games, I've heard nothing negative about the Grand Underground, and even though I really don't like the art style ILCA went with, it's not ugly and has a pretty even split of fans who like and dislike it.

I was just reminded of how frustrating it is to finish the Pokedex in Sinnoh, especially with ILCA keeping the Honey Tree and Feebas tile mechanics.

Does anyone have a spare Chimchar they're willing to part with? I'm able to trade a Turtwig once I reach the nursery.

Oh fuck. I'm not going to let my game get patched if we can jesus-bike to Shaymin. That's a shiny hunt I've always wanted to do!
And I've done it. I caught a shiny Shaymin after hunting it after work these past couple days. I'm looking forward to the Darkrai and maybe even the Arceus event in the future.

Firing Masuda or Ohmori feels like nothing will change. I think there lots of stuff happening inside the company that cause some lackluster games. I mean in ORAS there supposed to make a Mega Flygon but Sugimori got art block and a special npc in the game who partner is Flygon given you a Garchompnite they could give it to another artist.
